China insisted on Monday it would never renounce the "use of force" to take control of Taiwan, after ending a day of military drills around the self-ruled island that Beijing said was a "stern warning" to "separatist" forces. Beijing, which claims Taiwan as part of its own territory, deployed fighter jets, drones, warships and coast guard vessels to encircle the island in its fourth round of large-scale war games in just over two years. FRANCE 24's International Affairs Commentator Douglas Herbert tells us more.

To resolve the unending tension, I hope China quickly reunify Taiwan back into its fold soon. This will decisively bring to a stop America's mischievous provocations against China via Taiwan and bring peace back to the Asia Pacific region. After all, the whole world in general sees Taiwan as part of China. Why prolong the ambiguities and unnecessary stand-off?
