What’s the biggest moment that impacted the title race?

I would say the 3-1 win over Liverpool. That moment on, people started to really believe in the team again. Pulled us back from the brink, so to speak.

      Arsenal had a dip midseason.
There is a price that comes with having a better defence. Rice just can’t play progressive passes like Partey would do. And as a team, we stopped playing such a high line as we did last season in exchange for a better defence.
When Partey was injured, we have no solution playing against teams that park the bus. We are forever passing between Rice and our defenders.
Especially if we can’t play Zinchenko as well, the situation gets even worse. The quality of our possession, buildup play, ball progression and chance creation were nonexistent.
Except for Haaland, it is very clear that ManCity players are so much more skillful on the ball than Arsenal players. ManCity is clearly better than Arsenal. But what Arsenal do, doing things the right way, is what I respect them for. We can be proud that we are the best team in England among the clubs that didn’t breach FFP.

Now it’s expected to qualify and we’re pushing Liverpool and city right to the last games of the season! We’re doing good James. Good comment! ...I think we really have improved from last season because - like you said - this time it's really difficult to find any what ifs from our point of view ... I can only think of one single really disappointing performance this season in the league and that was away at Fulham - that's 1 game out of 38 ... The team deserves a lot of credit for this season

People often confuse progress with achievement. Arsenal made big progress compared last season to this season.
    1. If Arsenal wins against Everton, they they will reach 89 points, which 5 more points than last year. By the way, the city won the league 89 points last season.
    2. Arsenal beat all big six without defeat
    3. Arsenal scores more goals than last season
    4. Arsenal conceded fewer goals than last season
    5. Arsenal has more cleansheet than last season.
    6. Arsenal won 27 games out of 38 games, which was a maximum win in a single season in history.
Even if they don't win the league this season, they really deserve to celebrate like champions!

4 points from 18 against Fulham, villa, west ham. Criminal.
City will have picked up 12-15 points from those games, losing only one away to villa.
A 4-7 point swing like that against City, in the same fixtures, and you have no chance of winning the league.

  • @thelimey351
    @thelimey351 4 месяца назад

Nothing much big went wrong, City have been a bit more lucky - especially recently at Forest, Forest should have won that game.
Note: I don't care about the domestic Cups, we've already won the FA Cup 14 times & the League Cup should probably be scrapped with all the games now being played. The Premier League & the Champions League are where the glory is...

The Invincibles should have lost vs Portsmouth and should HAVE NOT have lost vs United... both games decided by dives (Pires and Rooney)
I think whats important is that we are on the opposite end of the spectrum when compared to Arteta's bad run, Emery and Wenger's end.
Now even expecting to do well in the Champions League is not being unrealistic.
And next season w Timber and hopefully 1-2 other players we will break more records.
And for all we know Man City will get this title stripped and it will be handed to us and I can see it in Guardiola's face when the subject is brought up, he "HOPES" that his higher ups are telling him the truth in that there is no violations but deep inside he knows there has to be something and he is scared of it.

James, rish here- big Arsenal fan from Australia! Vila 1st half was pivotal. You talk about fine margins. My thought was about Arteta’s decision to try to bring in Gabby Jesus after injury! The team had momentum with Kai as the 9 and no Jesusfor a number of weeks, but at villa arteta started havertz, Saka, Jesus, trossard- we created chances but our balance wasn’t right- trossard missed a sitter, but Jesus was terrible in front of goal - the more chances the team missed the more nervous we got and Villa gained confidence exposed us and won the game. What are your thoughts on this?

  • @RPatelAFC

Everyone talks about “when is 2nd not enough”, ultimately it will be when players start to leave. Make hay while the sun shines, if we don’t win something in the next season, BIG players will start to leave, and the perception of the CLUB will be “they just cant get it over the line” Klopps team stayed together because of the major wins. They had blip seasons but they still won consistently together. I honestly believe an FA Cup, league challenge again and a QF in the CL is the minimum for next season. It ends the trophy talk for a little but but cements the players as “winners”

Nonsense. Arsenal just aren't good enough. Too many things still wrong with the squad. The manager has to been looked at here. He's too stubborn. Loyalties to players that aren't good enough has been the downfall of so many managers. Additionally, like pep once enlightened us about, PLAYERS win matches not tactics! Too much is made about tactics and Arteta is susceptible here. That's it in a nutshell. Arteta must realize this. Unfortunately, I don't think he does and that's what differentiates top managers from the rest.

    XP = expected points
Man City maybe a 95 XP team and off days/Injuries make them 85 XP, Arsenal maybe a 90 XP team an off days/Injuries make them 80 XP. Aston Villa may be a 85 XP and on a good day at 85 XP explains why Villa could take 6pts off of Arsenal if Arsenal are on an off day.
This is why I detest the term "toe-to toe with City". The rest of the league may be 75 XP or below teams and we are just doing our job. This is why Wenger for years kept Arsenal top4, Bad days under Wenger football made Arsenal beat a lot of teams comfortably even with terrible players. To win the league Arsenal had to be more perfect to our XP than City and Partey was out for most of the season.

Spurs fan here. As much as I hope you do not win the PL, Arsenal have been brilliant this season, and last season. Finishing second twice in a row against this Man City game is a huge achievement. But what do you get from the rival fans: belittling and accused of being bottlers. As a Spurs fan, I have nothing to boast about. However, we had our moments when we almost won the league (Leicester won that) and made it to the CL final. For that team, it was overachieving. But...we were only ridiculed.
Try again next season, it will be more difficult though as I expect Chelsea to challenge as well. Spurs: we'll try to get top 4 🙂

Arteta got it wrong in important games. The games we dropped points in featured Zinchenko at LB, Havertz in midfield and either Jesus or Knetiah upfront
When Havertz went up top, Jesus was out injured, Kiwior played LB and Jorginho played midfield we won 8 games in a row.
Arteta forgot this and went back to Zinny, Kai midfield and Jesus vs Villa and we lost

People cannot say that this city team is weak because had they beaten us at the emirates and eithad (like they usually do), they would have had 96 points.
Even with a near perfect 2024 form despite the hardest title run-in (15 wins, 16 most likely, 1 draw, 1 loss) , we are still not winning title. All I can is that I am super proud of this team. Going up against these juggernauts, and challenging them until the very end unlike last season.

First time I see your channel, loved the episode and pretty much agree with you on all you said.
It just really hurts this time (as an Arsenal fan for over 2 decades) because unlike many (many many) times before where we've officially "bottled it",
I truly feel that this time we really cant be accused of that.
The boys have really been fantastic this year. Not only are we unbeaten by any of the big 6; we've also scored more goals & won more matches than the INVINCIBLES!).... and we've managed to fight it out to the very last day.
The pain comes from the fact that many of these "fine margins" this year really haven't been very kind to Arsenal, so many of these came to within literally a few inches away from changing the whole final outcome and leading us to the (what would have been a fully deserved) Title.
Not to take anything away from City, if they win their next game (and thus get 30 points from their last 10 games) no one could ever say they didn't deserve to win it, they've been phenomenal.
In an ideal (parallel) universe, this remarkable season would have gone to a final playoff match between Arsenal & Manchester City to decide the winner.

Excellent analysis. This is how I like to think about it: If I were to say to you that from the New Year, we would only drop 5 points, and only 2 of those points was a draw at City, you would think I was joking. Pushing City to the last day of the season, when they themselves are undefeated this year is incredible.
Again, if you reframe it, and I were to say to you in January 2024, after those defeats to Fulham and West Ham, that Arsenal will be second, taking it to the last day of the season, AND Man City will be on an unbeaten run in 2024, you would not believe it.
They have been on two astonishing runs of form for two seasons in a row - there is a lot the club should be proud of.

Love the journey we have been on. Really really appreciate what Arteta has done to the club. There’s a great positive energy around the club.
Tottenham went out of their way to lose and do not deserve a Manager like Ange Postecoglu.
We should not have dropped points to 10 men Fulham and the 2-0 Aston Villa loss.
The other losses are fine, I do not expect us or anyone to be invincible every other season but those two hurt alot.
We are up against Good competition that’s all, in the run in they are winning all their games with good score and are not slipping up and even tho absurd but technically speaking you are supposed to be winning all or majority of your games in order to not rely on anyone to win the league.
