That would only be 6 or 7 deaths of elderly people each year. As it is expected that the elderly will die, it may have not caused much suspicion. However I am willing to bet that some people had their suspicions but, with no proof and dealing with a well respected figure, did not know what to do.
It’s absolutely nothing like that. The assisted dying is only if given permission and they have 6 months left to live. Shipman’s patients could have been quite well and wanting to continue living so it obviously wouldn’t be legal
Thank you for your interesting analysis of Shipman, and explaining to us why he isn't an out and out psychopath. Although difficult considering what these two people did to their child victims, I'd be interested to hear your analysis on either or both of Ian Brady and Myra Hindley. Although I've heard descriptions of their terrible acts, I've never heard a proper analysis of either psyche. Thank you as ever for your time and effort. :)
I wonder if it's not that he hated the elderly. Lots of doctors have that narcissism that makes them think they're God and maybe his mother's death made him believe that no one should ever have to go through that type of end. So, maybe he believed he was doing his elderly patients a favor by taking them out before they came down with something painful, debilitating, and/or embarrassing. Regardless of his reasoning, it was still wrong.
He was my GP. Crazy times when the story broke.
He was one of the world’s most prolific serial killers and was also a doctor
Obi Wan : You have become the very thing you swore to destroy
It's hard to believe that nobody noticed a pattern of death, especially in a village. 200 plus victims is a huge number, even over 30 years.

Ironic timing, with England just passing the "assisted dying" Bill, would Shipmans behaviour now be legal? The case could be made.

Like every abuser, a cowardly bully who likes terrorising those more vulnerable than them
Doc, please could you do an analysis of a fictional film/TV character of your choice. Could be a good festive special. Cheers
