Early September 2020. Uchiura, Noto Peninsula.
The sea has just changed its clothes for autumn. This is the high season for fishing, from this time of year to late autumn.
It's the season when many kinds of fish appear and entertain anglers.
Today, I will take pictures while enjoying offshore fishing in this season.
First of all, I left the boat and headed for the offshore reefs.
After arriving at the reef, I decided to try dropping a fish into the sea to see how the fishermen reacted.
I dropped the bait into the sea and brought it closer to the reef.
I approached the reef, but there were fewer fish than usual.
I could see bluefish and red snapper, but there were not many of them. We couldn't see any sardines as bait, either.
The occasional small school of sardines would come and go, but they would soon disappear.
There seemed to be no fish in the reef today.
We decided to try fishing at the reefs.
After an hour, I found a school of fish near the bottom of the sea.
I attached a krill to the bait and dropped it toward the seafloor.
Then I saw a bluefish. Unfortunately, the krill wouldn't react to the bluefish.
Then I saw a fish biting the krill! Chickamakintoki!
It's a high quality red fish that can replace the red snapper in the Noto Peninsula in the Sea of Japan where there are no red snapper.
And we got two HITs! I hurriedly reeled them in and got two fish safely!
This fish has a tendency to stay in a school, so I was hoping for a series of hits.
I put krill on it again, and when I dropped it, I got a bite right away! It was quite active and seemed to bite into the krill.
Next, I dropped them in the middle of the school and tried to catch more krill at multiple points!
