    Super job, thanks ! I'm doing it the other way than you do: my low wind choice is the Spitfire 960 (replacing that good old HPR 980), its low end ability being useful for knee-high windswell while I take the ART899 once it's stronger (20+ kts) so I can enjoy the glide and not fear the higher stall speed it requires. Using a 375 progressive stab but looking into a skinny 50 to replace it.

    I’m using the 840 with progressive 350 tail on the ultrashort fuse and I love it! I switched from Takuma 980 and find the Spitfire way more forgiving with a much lower stall speed. Wave riding is a dream. I agree that is is a little slower but well worth it. Looking forward to getting the 780.

    Having a HPS 930 rigth now, and looking for more wave, agressive turning I would love to test the 900. 85 kg using the 380 speed backstab and a 88 liter board with 5.0 and 4.0 wings.

    Hi! great review!! very helpful. I am using the art999 mainly for wingfoiling wind bumps here in Buenos Aires, usually up to 18-20 knots and a 5m wing. Sometimes I feel the art 999 is a little stiff to carve aggressively, while it offers good gliding. What I do not understand is why you experience that it takes more speed for the spitfire 840 to get up...being a little thicker and having the same area I guessed it would get up easier...

      @WingsurferNL  Год назад

      Well with 18-20 knots you will be fine on the 840. I can feel the difference mainly in low wind, or when getting up on with supfoil.

      It's still the bigger wingspan which counts for an early lift

    Great review, thanks.
    I am doing kite foiling and here is my current foil setup: Axis Power Carbon 90cm mast, HPS 650 at the front and Progressive 375 at the back, all that connected via Black Series Short fuselage. The foil is powered and controled by Duotone Mono 7m2 and Duotone Pace 4'6'' foil board. The spot where I ride has the wind up to 20 knots so I was thinking to upgrade the wing setup to: Spitfire 840 at the front and Skinny 360/45. Also, planning to get the Axis Carbon Tray V3 110cm foil board. Any suggestion/comment/advises you can give me would be highly appreciated - thanks.

      Hi Alek, thanks. As I don't kitefoil I cannot advice you all the way. But as setup, I think the Spitfire 840 can better be matched with a slightly larger skinny. The Spitfires also work well on the advanced fuselages. Not sure where about you are from? But I could get my hands on a Tray v3 - 100 at the moment.

    Great review discussing the whole range at once!!
    When looking for a foil that you can throw in the curves from side2side, is the Spitfire, HPS or ART better suited for it?

      Definitely the Spitfire is a Wave carving machine!

    Hi - i see you sell F-one as well...have you tried the Sk8 vs the Spitfire? i have a spitfire 900 but wondering to get smaller 840...or even swap spitfire for SK8 as i only hear good things about this wing / even better than the Spitfire? What do you think of their relative advantages / disadvantages?

    • @WingsurferNL
      @WingsurferNL  Год назад +1

      I rode the Sk8 950 a lot this spring. Until the spitfire came along. I thought of doing a comparison, but never got around. Both work great and are in a similar segment. As I never compared in the same conditions it's hard to say what's really different as they are quite similar. I do think the Spitfire can and needs to be ridden a bit more aggressive. As the SK8 might be a bit more forgiving. Spitfire 900 is different then the smaller sizes I think. Atleast for my weight it is. I rather ride the smaller ones when it's on.

    Hi, which spitfire do you recommend for 87kg?
    For most of the time i took my ART1099 and for more Wind the ART899 with the Crazyshort Fuse and 375 Progressive Rear.

    • @WingsurferNL
      @WingsurferNL  11 месяцев назад

      It depends what you wanna do. Replace the 1099 for light wind by a Spitfire, you would still need something large. Riding swell and chop you can go 1100. But riding breaking waves, you wont hold such a size down. But you might have gotten better by now, so you might get up easier with a smaller foil. For wing I really don't take out larger then the 900. But this size won't be on the foil as quick as the 1099 when the wind is really light.

  • @northyvids
    @northyvids Год назад

    I bought the 900..now I'm wondering about the 840 or 780! Im 85kg and no so skilled but love wave riding. How much wind do you think the 900 vs 840 vs 780 needs to get on foil for the avg guy?

    • @WingsurferNL
      @WingsurferNL  Год назад +2

      It really depends on wing size and conditions aswell. For every step down you need more wind to keep going for a smooth ride. But how much exact is difficult to say. Probably figure out until which wind you are comfortable on for the 900. Then try and imagine in how much more wind you like to be out. If the difference is small, go for one step down. Otherwise go 2 steps down in size. Hope this helps.

    Lekker bezig Kris.
    De spitfires zien er erg aantrekkelijk uit.
    Ik snap dat je met de kleinere maten beter in de pocket vaart, maar hoe zit het met de glide in de bumps?

    • @WingsurferNL
      @WingsurferNL  Год назад +2

      Hi Jeroen, De glide is nog steeds onwijs goed. Uiteraard minder dan bijvoorbeeld dan bij de ART series die erom bekend staan en hogere aspect ratio's hebben. Maar de Spitfires vind ik wel beter werken voor onze Noordzee waar vaak best wat wiebel en lucht inzit.

    • @WingsurferNL
      @WingsurferNL  Год назад +1

      Aanvulling: beter in de pocket in vergelijking tov de ART in vergelijkbare maten. Dus niet persee dat de kleinere maten beter in de pocket varen.
