Why? Because I'm an idiot!
If you haven't seen this one just ignore the above and enjoy:
Footage from a FAO Schwarz store during the busy Christmas season in December.
Shots of the NES, the Sega Master System and various toys and games.
Also, some interesting VCR "learning games".
This video from NYC last around 12 minutes or so.
#duckhunt
#Poleposition
#Nintendo
#Sega
#Excitiebike
#RaggedyAnn
Imagine 37 years later coming upon this video and recognizing your parents and little you shopping in NYC from 1986.
That should be creepy
I mean fun and entertaining old memories
😅how was life in 1986
Went to NYC a few months back. Got Covid pretty bad, bed ridden through Christmas. Place smells like urine, marijuana, cigarette smoke, exhaust, and sewage. So gross. My sisters box is cleaner. However, this video is great. I love seeing all the toys and video games. Sega released the Master System right about then.
I’m convinced Vampire Robot is actually a time traveler because he or she has captured so much of what we all find nostalgic in such a great way.
lol..thank you Quake 😀.. I wish!
@@vampirerobot Did you film all of this or have you collected it all from elsewhere? Regardless of where the footage came from, this is a nostalgia gold mine :)
Wow, that "Rich Little's VCR Charades" game, based on the cover alone, would definitely bring any party to a screeching halt
It's crazy to think that classics like Duck Hunt and World Grand Prix* were still new releases back then.
I know right!
That was World Grand Prix on the Sega Master System. Pole Position was released in 1982 :)
I was 5 and remember that exact duck hunt game!! That was high tech back in the day!! I sure miss these times!
There was also a game called Hogan's Alley! a real gem! :D
The 1980s, what a time to be alive. iStill remember the smell of opening that nintendo (nes) for the first time on christmas day of '87.
So thankful I was a kid in the 89s
Take me back, please lord
Real world today you can't handle it 😂
Bro tIme travels to 1986 to just chill at the toy store
I wonder where all these people are now🫠
@@da0fficial._mikeybelieve927dead or wishing they were back in the 80s/90s again
@@Sgk_Gaming-27 The kids are in their 40's, not dead
If I could time travel it is one of the places I'd go.
It's not time travel it's just a video. Kids!
Those kids with the Raggedy Ann dolls sure looked happy, I would of been around the same age as them. They were quite popular here in Australia too.
The days when us kids used our imaginations and did not rely on technology.
Do kids even play board games anymore? My nieces and nephews(ages 8-16) do not .. they just go online
@@brianmeen2158 most kids I know are on their iPads most of the time
@@kris78787 Really depressing, isn't it?
@@arcadeapocalypsemusic yes!
Sad.
In 1986 High School was ending for me. I was becoming an "adult". Ironically when I was a little kid I so wanted to be older. Now I dream of those days of childhood. The 70's were my toy and games times. From Toys R Us to the JC Penny's Christmas Catalog and the Sears Wish Book those were the three best places and items for a kid. K-Mart, Target, Southridge Mall, and some other places filled in the gaps. It was a wonderful time to be a kid. I really miss them, but seeing these videos brings a little of it back. Thank you for that. God Bless you all. 🙏
Don't know why exactly but them Raggedy Anne dolls creep me out completely. Puppet Combo vibes. 🤣🤣
Can you imagine how people would react today if somebody was just standing recording kids
The police might be called for this. 😲
Nothing wrong with recording in public, everyone with a smartphone, happens daily. If your kid happens to be in the background when I film so what ?
Literally nobody would be calling the police. This is B-roll footage from a news crew, and believe it or not, they still do things like this every day for your local news. It's not some random person standing there in a toy store recording children.
Oh the good old days when I was a kid , I see there was a Nintendo and sega mega drive systems 👍
This Sega Master System Footage is amazing!!! I don't think I've ever seen anything like this.
Thanks for your work
Man! I want this feeling back..! 👍
A year after the release of the NES for the North American market. It sure was a hit back then! Duck Hunt, Excite Bike, and I'm not sure what racing game that is. And Raggedy Ann dolls. Both my sisters had Raggedy Ann dolls when they were growing up in the 80s.
I think racing game is Pole Position for the Sega Master System (precursor to the Genesis)
NES was my favorite Christmas present I’ve ever had. I still remember tearing into it and just couldn’t wait to play it
I feel like the NES didn't fully take off in popularity until 1988. Maybe that's because we didn't get a NES until Christmas 1988.....
Good on the videographer to match the frame rate of the recording to the TV's refresh rate. So many others would be a nearly non-viewable strobing mess!
This is an awesome throwback!!!
Hard to believe those kids playing with raggedy Ann would be in their 40s today! Or very late 30s
I was 3 in 86, I’ll be 40 later this month so yep 😉
I was 1
Fao was the shit back in the day. I got a few toys from that store in NYC. I've spent hours there. How I miss those days…
I was born in 1986. Vampire robot u made ma day😂😂
Happy to read this Daniel
@@vampirerobot yes indeed. 1986 was also the year the. Club auto device via sterring wheel lock to prevent auto theft was invented
@@danielsantana540 Interesting, I learned something new today 👍

I Born in 86 too I'm 37
Absolutely golden. A 1986 footage with nes and master system in a shopping mall has never been posted on RUclips.
Excite Bike was one of my favorite Nes Games, also Elevator Action.
We had “Duck Hunt”, it was a love hate relationship with that game😂😂
Chucky is hiding in the store.
May the Schwarz be with you!
🤣🤣🤣
Okay, that girl at 4:40 looks so funny.😂
2:27 I thought that was F1 Race for the Famicom and I thought, "Wait a minute...that game never got an NES release." It's actually World Grand Prix for the SEGA Master System. Both games look very similar.
Lol I tought exactly the same
I like how the worker saw the little boy waiting to play the video game and just walked infront of dude with backpack ❤
That wouldn't fly in todays generation the guy on the game would disrespect the guy trying to take off the game. Funny how 15 years later grown men would be buying playstation 2 and no lil kids would. HAHA.
The NES footage is amazing. ♥
I'm about to punch RUclips for selectively declining to show me videos from this channel even though I'm subscribed to it.
🤣🤣🤣 Although that could have been my fault Mike.
My parents refused to by me an NES in early 1986, because they said I already had too many Game Consoles. So I did what any little kid would have done back then. I went and got a Paper Route, & bought it myself. I remember telling kids at School that i just got Nintendo and everyone called me a liar, because no one else I knew had it yet.
Fao Schwarz...by far the nicest of all the toy stores.
Yeah but Kiddie City was the best imo
1986 is the year i was born, Nintendo is what the kids played on TV in the 80s.
Ahh the gold old days when life was simple
I was 2 yrs old, but I’m loving the nostalgia & everything looks wholesome at this time. Now outside in the streets was a different story 😂😂
I had that Chutes and Ladders VCR game back in the day
Nintendo came out in 1986 so wow brand new for that holiday season
I was born in June of this year..
I miss those times.
My father took me here once in the 70s
This was amazing. I love watching these vintage videos they are like interesting and fun movies. I love that there were games and the Nintendo Entertainment System as displays reminds me when stores had these classic game consoles good times. I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and holiday. Cool video. ^_^
Lucky I found this channel
I'm glad you found it too 😊
Either someone was a genius to record this, or they have a real working time machine.
Neither. The footage on this channel is most likely found B-roll from local news stations. Think something like the quick little segment about last minute shopping that would pop up on the evening news a week before Christmas. The most fascinating thing is that it survived all of these years and has been preserved so well.
1:39
Raggedy Anne dolls looked creepy to me then and still now
This is the only footage that I ever have seen of saga master system on the shelves in a toy store.. Awesome footage
Oh, this one is a classic.
Where is Tom Hanks? 😂
What is the name of the song that’s playing over the speaker at the beginning? I heard it in the 1997 video, and I’m curious what it is because it sounds catchy.
Nowadays, I think the lady that walked in front of the other lady in front of that Games People Play section might have been called a name or had her hair pulled.
Never knew that there was a Candyland VCR game. That's awesome as hell seeing those old Nintendo kiosks in action

This is pretty crazy footage!
The NES would’ve only been a year old at this point (only in test markets LIKE FAO Schwartz in ‘85 before slowly going cross country in the next year), and I don’t think the NES was even super popular just yet at this point!
If you see the box at 1:45, you’ll even notice that the set’s not even called “The Deluxe Set”. This was just a basic set Nintendo released when the NES first launched just so that it came as a cool toy and not a video game system at first.
We’re basically seeing one of the most influential game consoles of all time right as it was dipping its toes in the North American market!
If you have any more NES launch footage (like FAO Schwartz in Christmas 1985), that’d be so cool to share!
I had to wait another year before I was allowed to buy the NES. LOL I was thirty and my wife didn't approve. But next year our son turned 3 and I got it anyway, "for him". Hahaha. This was the second wave for me. I did own the Atari in 82 before I had a wife to say no. Me and my son went on buying the lates consoles together to this very day.
Vampire robot based on descrption of this vid. Your no idiot we all make miatakes. If life was perfect and it wasnt about learning growing improving then i feel lt would be kinda boring😢
The video game of the dirt bikes racing!!🥹! I loved that game! You had to be careful going too fast because you would flip if you hit one of those obstacles in the road! I loved my Nintendo! I got it when it first came out for Christmas and mine had duck hunt with it. Thank you to the person who is posting all of these videos🙏👍🥹❤️, it makes me happy and a little sad too
Nice video,,but where are the cash registers??? I love seeing those too??????
Are we going to ignore the fact that there's a cartoon boy with a funny smiley face on tv at 4:33?
i was rocking these games by 89
I feel old and i miss these days.
I was one years old 😊😊😂
2:30 Older guy had no idea how to use the controller to play Pole Position😅 Did pretty good then. 3:50 Younger dude steps up n immediately starts racing like a pro😂
World Grand Prix...not Pole Position...:)
@@CaptFwiffo yep, that was the master system, never had it… never had Pole Position either🤪
Is that.... the real Anabelle doll? :O
Are you digitizing these yourself? The quality should be so much better. Is there anyway i can help?
Hey, It's me!
Where?
where?
Where?
Did anybody see the book and cassette set of "Mouse Tales (1972)" which featured the book itself being read aloud by none other than its deceased author/illustrator Arnold Lobel (creator of the "Frog and Toad" series)?
funny how that sales guy kicks the man off the system so the kid can try some games as if that kid is going to sell his parents the system he might of made a grave sales mistake because if i was the guy he kicked off and i wanted to buy the system i would let the manager know i was going to buy it at a different store
No action figures, bummer
crazy how people spend like $100 on an electric doll when kids just want a raggedy ann for $20
Classic!
Nintendo fever would not catch on for another year for some reason.
The well-dressed little kids would grow up to dress their own kids like little Punky Brewsters and cartoon characters.
Lol. Yeah i was still playing Intellivision and atari at this time.
Back when you bought a video game that was actually finished.
How much would that rack of NES black box games be worth today unopened???
Unfortunately don't see Stack Up or Donkey Kong Jr Math, those would be the ones that would make you rich. This footage is from no earlier than September 1986, but it looks like ROB had already been taken off the market by that point
@@TRJ2241987Rob continued for a little longer before being quietly discontinued. 1986 was the wide release of the NES in North America after being introduced in test markets the year before in certain cities.
i had the clue vcr game.
