this was a beautiful documentary. I think it is important for us, the secular and even non-catholic world, to listen closely to the wisdom of these sisters. We all can learn much, incorporate their wisdom and advise into our secular lives and grow in faith. and hopefully make this a better world.....one day at a time...one person at a time. God bless all of us.

What a wonderful way of life. The world teaches us to borrow money we dont have to buy things we don’t need to impress people we don’t like. That is our purpose in the secular world. I was not made for this world and feel like my soul is always longing for Jesus Christ

Dear Sisters and nuns all over the world, bless you for your life of prayer and service to God. Yes there are/were bad people in the church but there are thousands of brothers and sisters doing wonderful things. Those bad people are attracted to the church for all the wrong reasons, just like the secular world. These genuine ladies shine with the love of Christ.

What an industrious, lovely, happy group of women. Women that contribute to secular society by producing goods and the good of our hearts and souls by prayer. What a shame the majority of the comments are just disagreement. I have great respect for these women. They are strong in body and mind and heart. I may enjoy a week there but not to ever leave would be too much. Bless the ladies who pray for our souls. What joy these sisters radiate! Think Knot, these hearty souls for Christ have a belief deep inside that it is NOT a sacrifice to do what they do. As most of us are suited to secular life, these women are preparing to do the same with Christ as the Holy Bridegroom. May we all find reverence in our chosen vocation!

if you are young enough and feel a genuine desire for God, then go ahead, try it. They will always be open to any vocation, and sincere hearts. They would probably ask if you have any serious commitments in the world, such as elderly parents who might need you but if not, then go ahead, make an appointment, talk to them. It's sad that modern society does not fully comprehend the value of the contemplative life. I'm a Buddhust nun, but I think we have alot in common. Our order is also mostly older women, most describe because there is no support from the secular world or much infrastructure.

Well I was Brought here from a Sad Story of Child Sexual Abuse in the Church and I Find My self Warmed and Nourished by These Holy Happy and Holistic People.
God Bless them and Help them earn revenue to keep that Sanctuary Safe and Secure.
I know it might be intrusive but really it would be great for them and the world if they could do a Series about how They live a 24 hours a Day, Rather like Big Brother , Holy Sister ? It would do very well and a few of us Lapsed Faithful could get something we need as well .

Derek Stynes the scandals of this age in the Church are many and grave. Nonetheless, God's grace shines upon us, especially through those whose lives are wrapped around the heart of the Church.

@@toddstevens6608 It is hard to know if living communally deprives people of personal privacy and development. By the time people are immersed in this kind of communal isolation for a while, they experience many emotional deprivations. They adjust to this lack without realizing the richness of emotional development they have missed when so many aspects of life remain latent. Experience matures us. That is how God made us. The plaster statues are symbols of possibly frozen emotional developmental states.

This is a truly beautiful documentation. And the Sisters incredibly beautiful in spirit and being. Over the years, I have enjoyed watching this piece countless times. However, I notice this time (Sept. 13, 2021) that there are many audio gaps and audio-visual mismatches throughout the playback. Why is this? It badly affects the viewing of it.

Beautiful and inspiring documentary! The cinematography is stunning. Thank you. As these are Cistercian Sisters, would they be of the Strict Observance (OCSO) or of the Common Observance? Not sure if that distinction applies to Cistercian women's communities! I don't think they are of the Strict Observance or they would be called Trappistines. If anyone can shed some light an answer to on my question, it would be appreciated. Thank you from Baltimore, MD, USA

Unlike some other monastic orders, these Cistercian sister do not take a"vow of silence". There are however rules they follow to maintain what they call an "atmosphere of silence".

Ask many Irish girls who encountered nuns either through education or enforced labour in laundries and they won't have such a rosy eyed view. Many young women were forced into the convents by their religious mad parents under the guise of a 'vocation' and in reality had no business being around young children or the vulnerable in society.
