I love this interview. They should do more interviews with Broadway show stars. Jackie is such a gem and Amanda Jane is just adorable. I saw Amanda on the national tour back in January. She was amazing

Norah L jackie is from my childhood neighborhood in middletown CT i remember when we were in the 4th grade she performed peter pan "i wont grow up" in the talent show, and all us classmates didnt know she could sing. we were all speechless after she performed. I remember like it was yesterday lol. Then in middleschool all of us kids from our neighborhood would be in our own little group and dance together cause we knew each other and were comfortable. We danced to silk and shai probably 20 times as kids lmao!! We are all so proud of her....go knox boulevard!! Represent!

I love how the musical was written more with an idea that it is transformative, that anyone could apply it to their situation, or to any historical point. History repeats itself. That's part of why there was no reference to a date in time, specific political influences, figures or people. The host trying to push her own personal narrative on it is NOT what Wicked is about, more than it is self-identification. That's what makes great plays and musicals.
You can put it to Jews in Nazi Germany, to the current far left OR far right - both of which advocate massive government imposition on people, resistance movements to a LOT of things from left to right politics. People in resistances know they are in one, what they don't want to consider, is that other people are resisting them back. A resistance isn't self-contained. People who are "marching" for gun control today think they are in some great resistance. They aren't. They are just the same tools of the opposition as usual. People marching for gun freedoms think they are in some great resistance against government. They are, too, tools of the opposition. You can push it into the Sunni and Shiite battles. The Civil War. The Ottomans.
That's the genius of Wicked. And the push of "hey, it's totally relevant today, because of minorities and evil Trump" is absurd. It's a musical that bases itself along the same lines of centuries of great plays and musicals. Tragedy, infused with comedy, that is entirely relatable to any one person's situation.

Wicked the musical shows to me that as long as you hold on to humanity even when someone could be a totally different skin color, is something we need to help us accept the other person because of our current time. Please add wicked billboards to the city, I love the plot & the music because I can play a few of the songs on piano.

Beta blockers.. hmmm. interesting.. I know of somebody that uses it for the exact same reason as Mr Ashley. However, it is not usually prescribed (no, it is not an over the counter drug) because it may cause impotence( because it blocks the beta receptors). this side effect though is more common in younger males. Though it is mainly on managing the blood pressure and the heart rate. .. LOL I talk to much.. must be the Elphaba in me...

impotence isn't a huge concern for guys who are already on their way to being impotent due to their elevated BP and HR from their... extracurricular activities
