- The Paramount Network's "Yellowstone" was some of the most-watched TV of 2021, and there's so much more to come. With one spin-off underway and another in the queue, "Yellowstone" is showing no signs of slowing down. Taylor Sheridan's Western drama is all about the owners of the largest ranch in Montana, the Duttons, and the people who make the ranch run, like Rip Wheeler, the ranch foreman. A rugged anti-hero type, Wheeler acts as an enforcer for John Dutton, the clan's patriarch, which means he gets into his share of trouble. This is the Rip scene that went too far on "Yellowstone."

How did you feel about this scene?
It was totally stupid and unnecessary
stfu and watch the show
exactly as per title says ... this is how i felt. Doesn't fit at all ... you don't stab someone and make peace with a new guitar ... c mon ... not even here.
I feel like these channels are trying to destroy what people like so we are forced to watch woke garbage and the logic that he wasn't going to report anything to the authorities is flawed. They said he could at any time he is in a pinch use his knowledge of the ranch. I have binged this show and it seems as if you idiots don't do research just come up with a narrative you want to push.
@@USMCasper exactly. People like this show and it doesn’t have the slightest hint of being woke so people try to trash it. Especially these popular hipster ass channels
Ohhh please this was one of the light moments of this epic show. Toughen up.

Everyone loves rip untill they encounter a real one in life 😂😂😂
Very true.
In real life if you encountered a RIP you would probably be forced to blast em.
@@pens8766 no bullshit 😂😂
Can't believe you try and sjw a tv show that people write a script for. Damn writers, they should be cancelled.
Shit try growing up with one as your oldest brother. I’d be lying if I said the first guy I ever stabbed wasn’t my oldest brother!! As a young man he was brutal.
In the 90s I worked fire and forestry in the rural west with loggers and cowboys and bikers and ex-cons. There were incredible fights sometimes. I was 19, and my first summer there I lifted weights nonstop to go from 170lbs to 220, because I was constantly ready to fight these kind of guys.
Later, on a different crew, I got the shit beat out of me so badly it changed my life…changed jobs, moved…etc. All because some new guy had to prove what a badass he was.
People from outside that kind of world might think it’s unrealistic, but the gnarly fights in this show and the dynamics involved reminded me a lot of my old life working in the woods with a bunch of maniacs.
Just my $0.02. 🤷♂️
Lord of the flies mentality...
so you are a whiner?? stop crying snowflake
Yes, I agree. If you haven't lived in such a blue-collar rural tough guy world before, you won't know how to relate to the tough guy rules. It is real. No better or worse than the white collar corporate world. I've lived in both and so far I think I prefer blue collar. Found a few more honest folks there.
Reminds me of working for the city once you get that name people come at you win some and sometimes you both lose.
you lifted weights for one summer and during that time you went from 170 to 220. What am i missing here?
Rip is a key and powerful presence on this show. There is not another character like him and he exudes strength, masculinity and the old west. His scenes are my favorite and without him this show would be much less.
1000%

Well said J&L. Reminds me of a lot of characters and people I know. Especially a fairly new character like Arthur Morgan. Rip is a badass

@@lindahandley5267 well that was one of the stupidest thing anyone has ever posted and you should feel bad about.
I loved it. Especially when Rip went behind the barn and had his moment. For me the blonde wrangler pitted 2 men against each other and she should be banned from the ranch.
whatever...Rip is the man!
She was banned from the ranch! Why is she back?I don't understand it!

Rip is the best bad ass of the decade. And has the heart of a teddy bear. Love him. Love the show. Sorry it's coming to the end.
The fact that Rip nearly broke down after punishing Lloyd says a lot.
The Beatdown was a message that nobody is above the rules, even somebody as respected as Lloyd
Literally nobody cares, everyone loves Rip and Yellowstone.
Loved the whole story arc. People either liked it or not. Many that didn't claim it was unnecessary and "didn't further the story or move it along". Yet it did. It didn't "move along" any storyline but... It established how far Rip would go as enforcer. It spotlighted how deep the love between Rip and Lloyd went with Rip telling Lloyd damn you for making me do this (paraphrased). I liked it because it showed life in a hard world. Lloyd to his credit took it like a man. I think even Walker learned a lesson from it. Part of Walker didn't believe how deep things were. He is a man, but has a child's side. He was given a chance and told to go away. he knew the score. He came back to the area and was spotted. Like a kid, he was testing his boundaries. Did they really mean it? Yes, Walker needs to grow up and is finding out he is in a grown up world. There is nothing I didn't like about the whole arc and how it played out.
I agree. Those that don.t, never will. Loyalty is an over used word, mostly by those who don.t really understand the concept.
It's a series you like or don't and I love it!!!

He broke Lloyd’s hand for his own good so that he wouldn’t continue fighting because Rip didn’t want the alternative if Lloyd continued fighting with Walker. He couldn’t bare to take his friend to the train station.
Well he should’ve broken it way sooner than that! Lloyd’s an old man and a respected hand and personal friend of Rip. I mean, it’s Lloyd, goddamnit!
No way! That’s a great way to put it. Didn’t think of that fact. Great point!
No, he broke his hand cause John told Rip to make an example out of him. Plus Lloyd almost killed Walker when he stabbed him in the heart over a girl. Lloyd should’ve been taken to the train station then.
@@dariog36thLloyd's been a loyal hand to Dutton since way before rip. He even gave rip his brand. So learn what you're talking about or stfu
@@basketcas3717 the brand doesn’t make you untouchable. John himself said “you don’t earn the brand, you live up to it”. And at that point Lloyd was getting sloppy. They killed guys with the brand before.
There is NO limit to what Rip can do, we'll love him regardless. The way he treats Beth gives him a pass in my book, he could unalive the Pope and I'd still root for him 😂😂😂
Good finally someone who gets it- he earned his position as alpha despite what the cucks saying about him that he is the kind of guy who beats on women, which he is not. Rip is an enforcer of rules that other men respect because they exist in a world where rules must be enforced
I understood 100% ........... this world needs more Yellowstone "loyalty, respect, honor " ......... demand it!
This is the scene that turned Walker around. Period. And enabled Walker and Lloyd to mend a few fences.
I liked it when Lloyd gave him another guitar.
@@geofreak75 I mean Lloyd had to give him the new guitar or continue to be ostracized by the rest of the Ranch hands. He didn't want that after being in charge under Rip after all that time.
HUGE Yellowstone fan. The scene crossed the line when he broke his hand. That simple.
Didn't cross the line necessarily...cause Rip broke down behind the barn afterwards
He broke his hand to keep him from fighting back so he didn't have to kill him
You'll never hear me complain about Rip. The man is an honorable, devoted, and loyal badass! His scenes are some of the very best in the entire series. It hurt him deeply to do what he did to Lloyd. But he had to drive his point home and as you could tell, Lloyd understood completely because he's also honorable, devoted and loyal.
I have a real problem with you calling this character honorable, loyal, or devoted. Firstly, I strongly suggest you look up the word honorable, you seem entirely confused on the definition, it is laughable to call him honorable, because this mans behavior is consistently deplorable, and those words are kind of mutually exclusive in this context. Secondly, where is this loyalty? I see nothing I would describe about his character as loyal, he is a living tool of John Dutton, a man who is loyal to no one say for his home the Dutton family ranch, which is a geographical location, even if it is the largest in the state, and it isn't alive. Loyalty is for the living, one cannot be loyal to the earth, wood, and steel no matter what they may constitute or be constructed into you cannot meaningfully be loyal to a thing. Now let me ask you to what or whom is he devoted to? Anything beyond a narrow personal circle of people who he is willing to break at a word from his master? You need better characters in your life, this person has no virtue other then a code, he has the unthinking loyalty of a dog who doesn't know his owner is an abusive monster, who makes him fight other dogs, and in that way he is no different from any other true believing fundamentalist who is willing to kill in the name of their idea of right. Furthermore, even if he was truly any those things John Dutton is a sociopathic murder who says things like "You can’t reason with evil, son. Evil wants what it wants and won’t stop until it has won or you kill it. To kill it is to be meaner than evil...that you can be meaner than evil and still love your family and still enjoy a sunrise.” hilarious in the context of this having been ancestral native land at one time. There is no meaner than evil, that is still just evil. So the Duttons are evil murders, as their parents were before them, and their children will likely be after them, and John Dutton once said "...your children would be better off without you" as he makes a man dig his own grave is both ironic and ridiculous. He is helping to perpetuate a cycle of violence and evil, he is dishonorable, and a waste of life.
@@siqck If you so dislike the show and the storyline , quit watching.

@@siqck it's not that deep, it's a TV show...
@@ironcatalystcs yeah it is actually. One can like this show and state what siqck does. Very interesting analysis quite frankly. Really made me think. I dont like RIP but I thought it was due to my jealousy of him. Hes a stud and could probably beat me up. I'm ashamed for being jealous of the man for such a trite reason. I'm now even more ashamed because my ego has led me to yearn an existence meaner than evil. Boy I have some demons
Rip can do no wrong. He's got your back when you do wrong.
Which makes him right you see😏❤❤❤
1. They worked out their issue
2. They learned that they better work their issues out in a way that doesn't involve Rip or John.
I feel bad for Rip. He had a horrible childhood and the first person he could trust just ended up using him and manipulating him into doing his bidding by making him believe he was a part of the family. Then his daughter screws him up even more until she eventually marries him, etc.
She was playing with him since she was a teenage girl.
Good call !
I was disappointed in that whole segment. Lloyd is no boy,58 years old and old enough to know blondie was using him, besides the huge age difference made it appear ridiculous. He carried that jealousy over her way too far.
Didn’t they have his 70th birthday party on there?
Being devoted to the ranch means Lloyd doesn’t get to feel the touch of a woman very often, if at all. It makes sense that, on the rare occasion it does happen, it would make him a little crazy. Every man has had a woman who made him act totally out of character. They can make us do things that we can’t even explain ourselves. A woman can make a man forget who he is.
@@texasswade8453…..Best example of that; O.J. Simpson killing his wife Nicole! That p***y made him go crazy when he saw her & that young man talking to one another, O.J. knew what was going to happen next between Nicole & Ron Goldman when they went back to her place! What happened that night just tells us that some men do stupid, crazy things when it comes to p***y & O.J. proved it that night!
He still has to obey the rules, rip did not take pleasure in his duty as enforcer and his back story shows his heart was made hard by his boss
It all boils down to one thing. Don't break the rules and you'll be good. Sure people will question the violence but that's what they signed up for. Rip is the most loyal guy to those rules and the ranch. Not his fault if someone breaks it
@Orcaluv26 do explain
It was settled with the fight, but Rip still continues on. He's a sociopath. Lloyd should've told him F off to being the best man.
Rip is such a real leader. I can imagine Rip beating the guy narrating this until he begs to be branded.
I'd love to see that 💯👌🏾
Yeah. I'm glad rip is a fictional character because I've been a bit hard on him recently. I can be pretty badass on a keyboard but I have to admit that I'd hate to have to fight him.
You don't fight the alpha
I hated seeing that scene, but at the same time, I think Rip was pissed off and felt personally betrayed that his basically right hand man would break the rules Rip enforces with an iron fist (no pun intended). Its one thing for the new guys to act out but he's been there long enough to know how things work, don't make the OGs look foolish.
He knew he had to make this guy back down, or the alternative would have been the train station.
It's not hard to understand at all. They both had to be adequately punished for what they did. Rules have to be enforced.
And examples have to be made.
I think Rip is full of inner turmoil he needs to admit to his inner emotions 😂😂
Let’s be honest. There’s nothing Rip could do that we wouldn’t forgive him for.
Taking bullets makes it hard to hate him for anything
Not true. If he ever hits a woman all bets are off. And don't say it's not possible because if there's one thing Yellowstone has shown us it's that *anything* is possible.
Oh come on!!! How silly
@@SoulShines4Music that’s the most ridiculous statement ever made. There’s literally zero chance they would have him hit a women. Are we even watching the same show?
@@SoulShines4Music Rip would never hit a woman! I haven’t seen him do it that I can recall and a man like him would never do it !!
It's quite simple:
Option A:
Lloyd is the last man standing and Rip smashing his hand is already the example that should be made. And it's easier for Rip to "steer" the example and carry it out himself on his friend than to watch what Mr Dutton does to Lloyd.
Option B:
By Rip smashing Lloyd's hand, Lloyd is unable to continue fighting and Lloyd and Walker walk out of the ring together.
In this way, Rip skilfully avoids having to make an example.
But breaking Lloyd's hand really went to far
Best show on TV right now. Rip rocks!

First time viewer, yellowstone is a damn good series
If you all don’t understand a thing, maybe you shouldn’t talk about it. This scene absolutely moved the story forward and shows another aspect of life on that ranch.
"No fighting.... You don't touch a branded man" pretty simple. Loyd let his emotions get the best of him. He also forgot what is best for the ranch.
This show shows what REAL loyalty is stuff like this still takes place in the real world, we are just smart enough not to film it.
Walker is a fan favorite, they should feature him more.
I cried for the scenes from this episode. I was hurt for Loyd.
It’s to bad that it isn’t going forward anymore
Way back in the 1900's (1989-1993) if we got into a fight at school and got caught by a coach, we were put on the mat in the locker room and allowed to finish the fight under the supervision of the coaches. It is not a far stretch to believe that they would do this.
Yep that's how we did it at my school as well.
A d someone. Could get killed. After all nobody has ever died from a black eye.
I just realised Dutton and Rip are playing hide the sausage with each other 😅
The only thing that went too far is a WOKE BS in America. This series is the best thing that happened in years. Live with it.
Went too far? Nah not close. Anyone that says they wouldn't want a RIP in their life is lying. The man is unquestionably loyal and completely trustworthy.
Dude this was a Disney moment compared to all the other stuff that’s been done.
Like making Walker an accessory to a murder. That’s was one of the most despicable things he did.
Rip is a soldier, he undertook his orders as much as it made him sick to do it, but order must be maintained and John knew it. Lloyd is also a soldier and he knows the rules after 30 years of it - including being a lethal enforcer of them, he also knew Rip was effectively his commander. They showed each other a great deal of respect given the situation so there was absolutely nothing personal about it. John made an example of the last man standing even though it was one of his oldest & most loyal men - so there was no winner in the situation no matter who you are or where you finished up. Whilst it was cold & brutal for everyone it was a lesson in leadership, if you fight each other there won't be someone left to have your back when the time comes and it will come. Divided we fall....
He is not a soldier. He's an enslaved ranch hand.
@@look4keith How do you even know that? At one point he was an orphan in a horrible situation taken in by John Dutton. Also, BTW, John gave his okay for Rip to marry his daughter Beth, effectively becoming his son-in-law. Doesn't sound like an enslaved ranch hand to me. Rip is fiercely loyal to John because of their history. Just look at Jimi. He may have been an enslaved ranch hand who John only wanted to see succeed.
@ejand2ks plus john even calls him a son and gave him the cabin hes 1 of the family id say john truly loves rip deep down as much as his other 2 children and in some cases as hes admitted is the only person john can trust and rely on 100% and i think in turn john would also do anything to protect rip in the episode where rip killed the bear john believed him so knew the evidence must of been taken john believes rip no matter what the situation i even think if it came down to his blood family and rip he would believe rip because he knows even his family lie to him but rip never does
Rip loves smashing heads; 0 Guilt
Oh no, RIP digging up his mother was by far the scene that went over the top.
Lloyd already knew how fighting was handled
The hardest scenes for me to watch is how Rip treated the 14 year old kid when he first came. Almost quit watching the show.
Me too, but figured it would be taking a better turn, and it did
Its insane how off you guys are about this. There have been many cases in history of leaders doing this to make a point and for people to learn from it. Clearly looper is among the shallow viewers
agreed many examples like this throughout history, didn't bother me at all to see this. What bothered me was when Lloyd took Fred to the train station, yeah he was a bully but he could have been taught a lesson a bit less harsh
Looper is wrong again. Got to keep the status quo.
Well, this kind of thing is a facet of the very heart of "toxic masculinity" and its the kind of thing where, if you have to explain it to the other person, you already know they won't understand it.
Rip beating Loyd was the ultimate show of Rips existence and that was that John Dutton and the Ranch took priority over any friendship no matter how strong that friendship was . It only solidified Rips priorities to everyone .
Oh please. If you’ve been watching a show in it’s entirety you would notice Lloyd and Rip have a deep bond. It was obvious to me that it hurt them both deeply to have to fight each other.. Rip and Lloyd are the two strongest cowboys on the ranch other than John himself. So he had to use them to make an example for the others, especially considering the way they are always drinking whiskey and playing poker into the wee hours of the night, it would be easy for them to get in fights over stupid stuff all the time if there wasn’t some sense of order maintained.
Still cant' believe Rip is Red from Tears of the Sun and one of Will''s friends from Good Will Hunting. Great work in both roles.
Let’s put it this way. If you are working with a bunch of people and there are no managers or Human Resources, you have to take care of issues on the job site. So in an exaggerated scenario where murders and crimes are taking place, when one guy starts fighting with another guy, you let them deal with their shit. But to ensure that it doesn’t happen again? How can someone do that? By beating the pride out of the winner. Fights all end in everyone getting their ass kicked, so fighting is way less likely to happen if there are no winners.
See ....YOU get it! ❤️
I reject your rationalization of Rip beating the H*ll out of Llyod. The fight was over; Llyod won; and they should all have gone about their business. There was no misbehavior by Lloyd to justify Rip taking him down and possibly crippling his one hand for life,
@@sonofizzy except that he broke the rule of no fighting, not to mention he’d stabbed what’s his name in the chest because he was caught up in his own feelings. Criminals don’t punish employees like a company would or like a construction crew would. If you have information that could take all of us down, and you go breaking rules and leading your choices with your emotions, you have to be dealt with. In the mob, Lloyd would have been killed. He felt happy to win, he was proud. And that would have led to more complications for the ranch down the road. So rip squashed it right there by beating the pride out of Lloyd and reminding him exactly what he’s a part of. If you’ve never been part of a criminal organization or if you can’t empathize with the situation, that’s okay. But rip did what needed to be done in my opinion.
@@fsttag1 So, you have been or are now currently a member of a criminal organization? By the way, your analogy falls flat. Yellowstone is a ranch, not a criminal organization. It does not make a living from crime where extreme discipline may be at times warranted to keep the membership from going to jail. And you greatly exaggerate the consequences of Lloyd not being beaten down and crippled by Rip; and underestimate Lloyd's loyalty to the ranch. Oh, yes, the fight which brought Rip to bear was an essentially sanctioned event.
If you are willing to be BRANDED and become a lifer at such a job … accept the rules and the chain of command. Simple, easy, and why Rip did his job as top Dog
Did not go to far, this is how men settle problems for years. Looper writer must be from the always got a trophy generation :P
I broke a friend's hand in high school (doing horseplay, more or less), and he had at least two surgeries to repair it. It seemed like a bruise at a time but ended up being more difficult to heal than a bad arm or leg break, as far as I could tell. I'm not a very nice man, but I wouldn't stomp someone's hand unless somehow I thought my own life was in danger.
The real problem with Yellowstone is the entire series. It's horrible, and well below what Taylor Sheridan is capable of doing.
The only thing I don't like about the show is the cringy portrayal of Kevin Costner as some kind of a fearless badass. He absolutely does not pull that off in any convincing way. Too bad.
I went toe to toe twice with a childhood friend. You never would've known the next day. Sometimes you just need to fight it out.
Same here
Some folks just need to get a backbone if their gonna watch this type of show.
Anybody could only hope to have a friend like Rip
Everyone loves a Rip in their life (friend, brother, uncle, father), and especially if you are their Beth.😂
No such thing as going too far when its comes to Rip!
We do not fight on this ranch!
Me: All they do is fight.
The best part of this show, is at times it just shows you life on a ranch. This fight is a great example of how we used to solve indifferences
I remember when my best friend and I had a falling out and our dads (they’re also best friends) took us out to the barn and said “solve it like men. Don’t come out til y’all are friends again” 😂💯💪🏼 26 years old and he’s still my best friend lol
Lloyd deserved more respect than that hour long beating. It was LLOYD after all!!! Give us a break Mr. Sheridan!
RIP is the son John Dutton should've had. I foresee Jamie's snapped neck in Rip's hands when he is told Beth's 'secret' that destroyed his fathering a child with her.
Did that ever happen?
This was as real and light as anything I’ve seen on TV
The point of the scene is a reminder to everyone that the loyalty to the ranch supersedes everything including personal relationships.... whatever reddit comment you mention at the end of the video is incorrect, if anything Rip/Lloyd and everyones relationship is stronger after that whole conflict.. BOOM! scene explained
You don't break the rules. You do your going to get RIPPED!!!
JUST like that!
We all know it ..
Why question the obvious..
It's a great show with some very hard truths..
Can't wait till season 5
Apparently, the narrator didn’t grow up in Montana.
The fights were all about pecking order. And that’s why Lloyd never fought back against Rip. Rip breaking Lloyd’s hand was a favor to Lloyd. Lloyd now has a known out, Lloyd a ranch hand pushing 60.
Rip is the “Fear” of the ranch. He enforces Johns will no matter what it is, even when it hurts him physically or emotionally. The first rule of the Yellowstone is “No Fighting”, and rip is the enforcer of that rule more than anything else, and he cannot be shown to have any favourites, the rule is the same for everyone, including Lloyd. If you’ve watched the show, when Rip has to step in, he is fast, extremely aggressive, and overly destructive, but it’s a very quick beat down, only lasting a few seconds. He does as much damage as he can in as short a time period as possible to remind everyone, and have a lasting consequence (ei. Black eye, busted hand, destroyed kitchen) that if you fight on the Yellowstone, Rip will come for you to even the score. Also, this scene showed, to me at least, that contrary to how he comes across, that Rip doesn’t actually like fighting, or any other form of hurting others, and instead does it out of necessity or because he was asked to, and not for his own pleasure. In my head, although it hasn’t been mentioned, I don’t think Rip would have asked John to be the ranch’s enforcer, and instead was asked to do it by John, and Rip accepted it. This arc showed layers to all three of them. Lloyd was shown that even after 30 years he can still be impulsive. Walker showed that he’s a bit of a child, but can bury the hatchet and forgive, and Rip was shown that although he may not show it, he feels bad when he has to hurt someone (lloyd more than others perhaps, but still feels something)
It was very sad when Rip beat up Lloyd. No matter the reason or backstory or circumstances.
The last time anyone fought and wouldn't stop, they were sent to the train station. Lloyd's hand was a small price to pay to avoid that step. John's order to make an exception to whomever won was a masterful way of ending the fight for good, reminding everyone that you don't fight marked men, reminding both fighters what the alternatives were, and stopping any gloating by whomever won the fight. It was pretty psychologically sound.
Do they even know it's Christmas? 🌲
Christmas has passed…we’re bringing in a new yr
You know they say "don't judge a book by its cover" This scene just shows you have to turn the page for the next scene. Books entitled "tough Love"
Corruption throws money at a issue, cowboys throw leather. Kudos to the make-up crew.
Who ever was narrating this was wrong. It was about family loyalty… once branded , you are family. And when things get out of hand, you “nip it in the bud” as Barney Fife said many times… it was not taken too far. Who ever posted this video is a big baby. 👶🍼
This entire series is all about taking things “too far” . If it’s not oversized nobody will watch it. This is not censored and diluted television as we see on the major networks… it’s about the dark sides of family and business relationships. The dark sides are not always pretty, but they can be pretty interesting..
Lloyd got that because he'd been warned to let it go and never did.
The real beef between Lloyd and Walker was when Walker got his guitar and started playing DON’T FEAR THE REAPER.
Lloyd said the song needed MORE COWBELL.
Walker said the song was fine the way it was and told Loyd to mind his own business.
Lloyd then DEMANDED MORE COWBELL.
Walker then yelled, ‘SHUT UP OLD MAN!”
That was more than Lloyd could take. And THAT’S when Lloyd stabbed Walker with a knife.
Later, when Lloyd presents Walker with a new guitar, there was an important part that was deleted. Walker was so honored by Lloyd’s gift, that he presented Lloyd with a COWBELL.
And that cowbell can be seen on an actual cow in a later episode.
So now you know.
Excellent critique!! I can't believe how serious people take themselves over a television show.
I got that part
Rip is one of my favorites on the show
Rip could be my bar manager any time.👍☺️
Everyone still loves Rip
The fact that this show goes too is what makes it so great. Enough of the PC blah invading all walks of life. It’s a show. And the fact that it’s rugged and raw is it’s very essence. It has to be. I hope season 5 is even more violent and more harsh.
Oh please, toughen up, this is how problems should be solved today. Let 2 guys beat the hell out of one another and then it’s over and everyone moves on. Not like today’s problem solving PC crap
Love RIP, the barrel girl should've been banned from the ranch
This scene wasn't too far. It was HUGE character building for Rip and it killed Rip to do it.
I just want to say that this is my opinion but I think alot of people don’t understand the cowboy justice because they have never lived that life. There aren’t many true cowboys left in this world but the ones that still do exist are to be respected. Most people think all a cowboy does is ride a horse or pitch hay into a stall. It’s way more dangerous than that. These cowboys put their lives on the line every day. One cow or horse can easily weigh up to 2000 lbs. imaging trying to corral an entire herd of 2000 lbs of pi**ed off! So, to make sure they go home at night they work with other cowboys. And in that situation you have to trust those guys. They have you life in their hands as much as theirs is in mine. That’s why it’s important to get it out of their system. Cowboy relationships are built on trust and respect. If you don’t have one or the other, no cowboy will willingly ride with you!
I love Rip! His character is essential to the series growth.
NOt me I cannot stand him. Hope he gets his ass kicked at some point. Arrogant SOB
Exactly
Cowboy life ain't easy. If they wanted easy they would dance ballet
It didn't pan out. It fizzled into nothing and now rip asked lloyd to be his best man.
You either need to watch the show again or need to get a real friend.
RIP asked lloyd AFTER the corral fight scene? Boy I have to rewatch
Just watch the show and enjoy it. Don't over-think it.
Rip never goes too far
Rip is the man . He is a mix between a boxer a boxing coach and the loyalty of a lion. He fears none and doesn’t need to talk to much to get his point across . I’m glad after Miami he got out of jail and joined a ranch
In reality Rip did what he had to do in order to be seen as “The Boss”. Had he showed favoritism at that particular moment, there is a pretty good chance bad feelings could’ve developed with the other ranch hands and Rip.
I call bullshit about this dude's opinion.
It was needed. Had to prove a point to everyone else. Period, John told Rip what to do and he had to do it
Love Yellowstone-the constant narration, not so much.
If this really happens we have a crap load of less bad people.
If that was true, no one on the show would be bad. They're all murderers (except maybe two people on the show).
Looper has a problem with math. It doesn't take the integral f(x) by separation of parts to know that the Beth/Walker commutative properties had to be dealt with.
It got dealt with by Rip, and he didn't have to take Beth to the train station. He did have to take Walker there... and back. Walker was/is a good guy but had to learn
his non-steared boundaries on Yellowstone with the {Rip/Beth} Solution Set. Beth learned to no longer frak with the love Rip has towards her and her's toward Rip.
This is a awesome display of how things should be handled before RIP did it he told him he was doing it because he loved him. And he knows what he has to do. Tough love in a tough world. Creates real men and women.
Yep that fight w/Loyd was ridiculous. He’s an old man for Gods sake. My least favorite scenes in this show. One minute John says no fighting, the next he’s making them fight. It’s dumb.
Hey I've met a couple older men in my day (60+) that could mop the floor with the mustaches/beards of guys that made the mistake of underestimating them, guys young enough to be their sons nephews grandsons..
The scene was because he crossed the line. And they both understood the beatings so no hard feelings. If you don't get that then there's a character defect in you.
I’m not too thrilled on seeing an older man, who deserved respect, getting the tar beat out of him. For any reason. Could scrap the whole thing in my opinion.
The narrator saying Lloyd was punished for doing what he was told to do (fight Walker in the pit) is way off. Lloyd was punished for breaking the no fighting rule not only once but twice within a short period of time. The thought process was that the loser of the fight in the pit was punished enough and the winner may have been beat up , they technically won the fight , but there’s no room for pride or celebration in this scenario for winning that fight … so the winner had to be humiliated and humbled as well to understand the rules are the rules and they are not meant to be broken. Also, it wasn’t some insane act for John to make those two fight , it’s what has to happen sometimes between two guys to get their anger out and move forward instead of letting the anger eat at them for weeks/months/years. As you saw in later scenes it worked out nicely as Lloyd bought Walker a guitar and from what we see in the series they seem to be on good terms now, something that probably wouldn’t have happened unless they fought it out.
When you’ll live together in a bunker your house and you’re doing a job like that Joanne, you have to know that the other guy has your back that can’t be animosity between two guys or a stirs up a pot of crap and somebody to get killed doing their job
I have a feeling Looper doesn't know much about the real world. Yellowstone is the real world, except a nicer and cleaner version of it.
Something tells me the narrator hasn't spent a lot of time managing cowboys on a ranch...
I viewed it as John making sure Rip knew not to take action without approval. John made Rip pound Lloyd, Rip's best friend, for Rip having brought Walker back without orders. A power play to ensure Rip knows who the real boss is. Lloyd got beat, but Rip was the one suffering.
