Brilliant vids with great tips and tricks for a cracking lawn. I bought the Webb WEH12R off the back of your vids and sadly I've had nothing but trouble. Constantly locking up and just skidding and tearing chunks out of what was a fairly decent lawn. Webb haven't got a clue how their mowers work. I don't suppose anyone else has had the same issue and has found a remedy ? I tightened the chain, adjusted the blades, adjusted the height etc and it just seems to be locking up. (bought from new).
Hi Roger. Thanks for the comments! Sounds very frustrating. Seems that some of the new models are super troublesome as I have seen a few complaints May need to buy a new one so I can try it out and see if I get the same issues! Mine is an older model, and I have had a couple of issues, but managed to resolve them by adjustments. Hope you can get it sorted as, for the price, I love my mower!
@hippydudemaxx suspect the grass is too long to begin with. I had this issue with the longer grass. If the grass is too long then I cut with the rotary mower first to reduce height then look to with the reel after. Reel mowers are designed for removing small amounts of grass.
Looking good buddy. Makes me laugh when I hear people say you need a heavy mower to get great stripes. LOL As you know I also use a push mower and mine is a little heavier than your but not by much and we both manage to still get great strips. 😉
Hi Geoffrey. That's what I've been eying up. Are you selling a 16inch?. A few for sale online at the minute but my concern is the HOC starting from 13mm. I would like to be at a range from 20mm down to 5mm.
@@TheReelMowingMowingClub The certes go down to at least 3mm don't forget back in the day they were used for greens mowers, cricket, bowls and also Wimbledon
Front looking fantastic mate. Shame about those light lines again where you missed with the spreader, but a bit of iron along those lines should make them go. I prefer using liquid ferts etc because when using granular I always seem to not get even coverage in all areas, but I only use a hand spreader as my lawns are not large enough to require a push along wheeled one. Hope Hunter recovers quickly. And you will be wanting another holiday abroad after finishing your plans on the back garden, but I suppose your new plans now are not going to be as back breaking as what you intended originally by putting trenches in. About time we saw how your Mum and Dads reno is lokking now😉🥳🥳
Thanks Mark. I have a hand shaker spreader from ICL that I'll use to apply a little more to the area. I'll get with liquids in a couple of weeks. Need to order more! Hunter back in the vets today. Hopefully they can discharge him but if it's opening up, he might need to be stitched up again. Mum and dad's is on the agenda. I need to find thr time!
@@TheReelMowingMowingClub yeah I understand mate, never enough hours in the day. Oh, I hope Hunter came out o.k. May be an idea to put one of those neck cones on him, to stop him trying to pull at the stitches. Spoil him rotten with treats for what he has been through👍🐶
Both sides in the front looking really nice Dan! Good job as always, amount of graft you put in to it mate👏 Now since you have two ,different' names on the front and they are both well established do you prefare one over another? Also if you know why am I getting ripple effect after using the webb? I have done 15 b4 with no probs, and I was getting waves on 20mm cut. Test blades b4 cut but it did it anyways. B4 cut lawn was on 30mm so only removed 3rd really. Confused and cant work out. Anyways its not about me 😂 glad your dogs OK and still enjoying your lawn.
Cheers Mush! One of the neighbours parents drove past saying "are you still mowing that lawn" 🤣🤣 course I was. The earlier process was a verticut! At the minute, I'm going Johnsons. I think it looks better at 20mm and 15mm versus the Barenbrug. However I would love to take the brug to the lowest it offers about 5mm, and see how it looks. But this means getting a new mower! The back will get the johnsons. I always thought the ripples were from the cutting blade not being enough, 5 on this(?) Versus the 10 that the greensmowers offer so you get more cuts per m. But Mark and Brian have told me (and some interweb searching) the reel to bedkife isn't set properly. A tweak recently has helped nut verticutting has also reduced it, lifting up grasses prior to cut
@@TheReelMowingMowingClub haha what they no about the lawn care, I am sure they appreciate when they see one like yours! Yeah cant go wrong with either really. I mixed J. Premier with MM50 but had a very small patch with just mm50 and I was well impressed with germination and the fine blade looks. The main reason I went with what I have over J. Premier was shade tolerance? If the charts to be believed it had 6 out of 9. Time will tell... I thought you could go down at least on 7mm on the Webb? I will message Mark about that thanks, see if he can make one video for me how to solve the mystery. I thought the same thing in the past with 5 blade one not being enough but I was cutting on 15mm in Spring and it was perfect. And also I can not get that crisp edging on stripes like you do🤔 it leaves some line over which is not that appealing but I am not asked much about that. Dan hibbert always cuts his at 20mm Bar extreme and is looking decent. Maybe if you kept both on same hight there would not be much difference in it apart from colour?? Have a good one Dan🙌
@mushy_GLX was just watching YardBrah on his latest vid. He was cutting his green with a Webb and has the same ribbing, and it's as clear as day! So unless we all have set it wrong, I think the cuts per m has an impact along with an incorrectly set blade. 13.5mm is the proposed lowest height stated by webb but I reckon a bit of engineering and fiddling will take it down lower .
Looking amazing. What's the height difference between the hayter and webb? My front lawn was looking great until after the heat wave. I had lots of disease in the shaded areas where it has gone brown. I just cut it with the hayter at 20mm as the cylinders seems to just be laying it down and not cutting it as short as it should. I'm thinking I have to mow it wit hthe hayter then maybe 1 mm less with the cylinders to remove the horrible finish it leaves. I'll be verticutting it this week. I should have done it a couple of weeks ago before all the disease.
Thanks man. It's mowed on setting 3, which is about 31mm if I recall then down to 20mm on the webb. The regular verticutting is a game changer for me. I struggled with the left to right cutting previously with the webb, with it moving and not staying straight but thinning out has made is much better! Also the diseased areas on mine have disappeared, however it's not as warm at night and the fert has really kicked in
Soil was poor. That's the reason why I added 8 tonnes of sand to the side lawn last year, 6 tonnes on the small lawn in April and plan to add 10 tonnes to the back as part of the full renno I've started
