@@BourbonJunkies Found a bottle of Michters toasted barrel at a store here for 220. When I walked in and asked the Owner and showed him the app he was shocked and told me these bottles are going for 450 you know but still Honored the 220. Upped the price as soon as I left. Score!
It took my palette about 2-3 days to get used to the proof (assuming a warmup to barrel proofs). Still working on recognizing/identifying aromas and flavors.
I love that they went into a little skit about all the security they have for the hut, but then completely ignored the other half the question cause they were just enjoying doing that 😂
Good question guys. Havent watched it yet, as i like to watch with a glass 🥃 in hand, and its only 9am. imho, palate training for flavor perception in whiskey takes time and a access to a wider variety of experiences (bottles), but can be accelerated if you got $ and drink every day consistently or at least frequently. Have you guys ever lost your palate or ability to taste / enjoy whiskey? (E.g. by not drinking for an extended # of days, say when you are sick/ have a cold or just no access to the collection)
I went 9 days with whiskey not long ago and I don't think I lost anything. However, it's a skill and skills are only borrowed. Not doing it for a long time I think you'd for sure get rusty
@@BourbonJunkies every time i come back from a backpacking trip (dry) in the sierras, my palate is blown and it takes 3-4 days / sessions to be able to pick out the sweeter notes and complexity from all the oak tannins, which tend to just register as heat at first. Doesn’t happen to the same extreme when i sip scotch though...was wondering how common the experience is. Thanks for the entertaining content / reviews! U r turning junkiehood into utube gold!
Happy Halloween. We had a trick or treater who emptied our bowl of candy within a half hour of putting in out on the porch. Respect. I would love to see a video about discontinued releases that are missed or glad to see them gone. Appreciate your unpretentious approach to bourbon.
From my understanding, we also buy/collect things because it's about as rewarding as developing a skill/hobby without having to take the time and effort to develop a skill (which can sometimes take years). Not throwing shade, btw. It takes much less effort to walk into a store and pay over the odds for a rare bottle and post it on insta for a bunch of likes, than it is to learn a skill well enough to post it on your social for instance.
I have a bottle of 1792 that has lots of condensation inside the bottle. Anyone else ever had this issue? I have over 25 bottles almost at all times and never had this happen before.
Have you considered the possibility that the Angel’s bottle was sabotaged before it came into your possession? Who knows what else happened in that car once the bottle was popped...
Dan definitely needs to watch the HBO Real Sports episode on FIFA and how bat shit crazy corrupt it was and probably still is. I think the episode is called "Blazer: The Inside Story".
Great video. Did not know you guys were into cigars
Am I cheating when I use Drizly to hunt bottles?
Nah, use whatever works for ya

Team Sean 🥃
0:56 the most necessary edit I think I've ever seen. Ever.
That Pikesville Rye shirt is AWESOME!
The relationship/interaction/riffing and general f-ing around makes this the best whiskey channel. Keep up the excellent work!
Great video as usual guys.
“I’m here to win…MOTHERFUCKER.” 🤣😂😂😂🤣👍👍
Great show, guys, as always

Never caught one of your Q&As before - that was quite good. Thanks. Cheers :)

This was an excellent episode. Good questions, lads!
Cohiba Spectre is the one you're thinking about that's around 100$
Yea that thing was wild
Maybe this was answered in a different video but any reason why you guys are enjoy bourbon more than say scotch? Or what got you into bourbon?
Why do we hunt bottles? Because for most of our history we had to hunt and gather our own food, it’s embedded in us.
And I really like bourbon 😂
great content today - love the q&a format - finally got my hands on col taylor single barrel - it was good and I liked it =)

Sean - "There's a moat with four alligators."
Dan - "Mhm. We're talking about adding a sixth."
Guessing Dan didn't take his swordfish oil that day
I think he was between doses
Thank you, Alec, for keeping the chillenz fed! #FIRESEAN
I have paid out lots of cash for Octomore scotch and will continue to do so for me its that good. (:
So if I want to increase my chances of getting a birthday Bourbon I gotta start purchasing a shit load of shooters from my local liquor store....
It might take a few people doing it
Took me a couple of weeks, personally.
*palate*

Hedonic adaptation is what drives the collector in humans.
Bourbon to America = Crown to Canada = ...
Who tf is Valerie

Only 20k for a Pokemon card? Rookie numbers. Logic the rapper just bought a graded 1st Edition Charizard for 200k.
You mean PALATE? Palette is that white board you paint on
GARBAGE IN A BOTTLE 🤣
We need to raise some money to get the boomer a new phone case. Looks like it belongs to a mechanic and not the bourbon somm he is.
You paid a HUNDRED DOLLARS FOR A DREW ESTATE TRADEMARK THIEVING COHIBA? Ew.
We didn't, was a gift!
