I don't know if you read comments from a video this old, but you are the Best teacher. I have watched loads of videos, but nobody else explained how to put the needle exactly where I want it. Thank you a million times. I have learned more from you in a couple of months and I am incredibly grateful. I will keep watching if you keep putting them out. And I always look for opportunities to Pay It Forward!
I learned a lot especially how your holding leather and you position your guide across from foot instead of in front. I was taught by an upholsterer to always keep my hands back to guide. I now realize why the leather moves side to side. Thanks for sharing!
Sweet! A Cobra tutorial and production tutorial in one. One of Al's best qualities is his vocabulary. I've never heard him use the word "thingy". Thank you for your generosity.
HI Al! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with lowly beginners like me. Giving your thoughts in this way sheds light onto what seems to be such an arduous learning experience. Instead of fighting my way through the process I can simply follow your lead. Thanks for being so generous with your knowledge and experience. Also, I'm using a Cobra class 26 sewing machine. Can my machine sew thick projects like the guitar belt strip in this video. Please let me know. God Bless you
What type of leather do you prefer to use. You mentioned marks not being a concern for you due to the pressure of the presser foot. Thank you for the video.
I always say your shop your rules, your designs, your quality control. With my experience it's easier to use materials that don't get marked by the sewing process than to remove marks from sewing. So veg tan and the nature of it accepting marking isn't the first choice of materials in my workroom.
I’m a old goat 73 just getting into leather work. Could you tell me type of leather and where to purchase for making good quality belts. I don’t won’t to be known as the person who makes inferior belts. I know you don’t use veg tan the only other choice locally is Water Buffalo. I live in Oklahoma and will pick up my class 4 with EPS next Tuesday. Also do you use the same size bobbin thread as top thread? I appreciate the knowledge you share with us. Pay it forward.
I would check out Springfield leather, or Maker's leather. There's also sav- mor leather in downtown Los Angeles. And yes I do use the same size thread in the top and the bottom.
@@pauleyedwin6056 That's almost like asking me what we want for dinner. Choices like that vary from maker to maker. You're going to have to find what works for you and your customer.

Thank you Al, I always gain from your videos.
Excellent video. Training us to think methodically in advance. Well done and much appreciated.
Thank you for doing this step by step video. It is very helpful.
Thanks. As a hobby leather crafter, I don't sew every day so it's great to have videos like this to refer to.

I probably won't be taking up sewing or leather work anytime soon (as amazing as it is) 😎 but this lesson is fascinating Mr. Al.

The max thread size on the class 26 is 207 . The maximum thickness would be 7/16 of an inch thick. It should handle a guitar strap with no problem.
@@albaneforleather thanks Al

@@albaneforleatherThanks Al, it’s rough being a newbie without a mentor.
