Fastest Indian one of the best. Fav quote: “You live more in 5 minutes on a bike like this than some people live in a lifetime.” Cost me an hour of washing salt off the 99 Softail at the car wash in Wendover. It was worth it. Cool video.
I used a very similar quote when I was much younger/faster. That idea never comes to mind anymore now that I am no longer a Speed-Idiot....I wonder if that was the origin of the idea - SPEED?
I always take an umbrella with me on my rides. Instant shade when you need it. Wish I could have met y’all when I was on the TaT but was a week ahead of you guys.
This is very cool I have been out there many times living so close for so long. I had no idea that it got so quite I have never even thought of camping out there or just hanging out like that. Maybe next time I will bring a few beers with me. Thanks for the video I really enjoyed. 😃
That's awesome brother. I've only been there once and that was April of 1990. I'm going to have to make sure to see it again before I get too old to enjoy it. :)
The salt flats are definitely on my bucket list. Not just a visit, but ride out onto the wasteland and camp. Very cool. Thanks for sharing. I was going to mention The World's Fastest Indian but you beat me to it. I should watch that movie again. The 2023 TAT trip is still providing great content. It's Must See RUclips.
Another great video. Was wondering about Richard's camera. Some of his shots seem to be elevated. Does his go up and down on his mounting pole? Also loved the little pause you made after talking about the quietness of the flats. Just letting the camera pick up the sound of the wind. Brought back memories of my 2016 trip where I camped out on the salt flats. The silence was unnerving and that sound of the wind still rings in my brain. Enjoyed the bare facts of riding on the salt. I've had sand in my crack but never salt. 😂
A wise man once told me "It's called a dual sport, so we can take pavement or dirt." I also enjoy stretches of asphalt as it's a nice break from the dirt tracks. Much less stress too.
Great video. Loved the music. Reminds me of a thought/question I have had several times. Has or will the Moto Giant ever go international? Mexico? Asia? Thanks for posting and mocking the Harley guys.
Other countries? Only Canada, Mexico, Bahamas and California/Hawaii so far. Been talking about Mexico & S. America for awhile now, so that is coming up soon hopefully, and I love the idea of anything in Asia!
Don; Good video as usual!!! Never been to salt flats!!!!!!!! Did you wash your rides? Still looking forward to camp cookouts coming spring!!!!!!!!!!!! God Bless safe ridin rubber down
I want to change your mind about camping out there Jim? Pretty sure you are not gonna find anything close the this experience - just stay clear of the track, and the edges of the lake - the salt falls apart around the edges. And rinse the bike n trailer after - now, JUST GO!!
@@MotoGiant if I follow this year's plan, I would not be near it at all doing my 4 corners. If I decide to winter south of your border, it could be in the plans. Maybe 2025 if not?
It's not widely known that Bonneville Salt Flats is dying due to slurry mining for potash & industrial salt product. The salt crust was once feet thick but is now barely one inch at it's best location. You can see here where Joe Public has done doughnuts on it & broken through to the brine dirt. The Bureau of Land Mismanagement receives millions in mining lease rights to this public land & is not about to concede their greed is destroying a national monument. If you ever wanted to see racing at Bonneville, do it soon because the end is not far away.
There are SOOO many topics about Bonneville I wanted to cover, but I had limited time due to audience retention. I would like to have that discussion one day, as I agree with you. I would like to go further in depth, not only about all the current issues, but more about the history too. Good comment!

@@MotoGiantHence, why I sold the FZ6. I still love speed. But I’m content to meander on the remote Highways nowadays.
Never stop dreaming.

Great content Don!
Thanks Matt!

It was a slow day on the salt, sometimes it is entertaining just to watch people bustin ass on the salt, but always fun to sit inside The Construct!
Sure enjoyed this one, best in a while. Richard, that is one crazy laugh,, funny. Keep the adventure going!
First one makes me feel like it was made for me

Thanks Bruce! BTW - I am waiting for some good weather to cook up my first bag of bug nuggets...coming soon!
@@MotoGiant - Now I've got that annoying "Uncle Billy! He knows what's right for you!" jingle running in my head.

Less stress indeed! The only surprises I get on pavement are other vehicles :(
Agreed. Pavement is easy mode, minus the dummies with four wheels. @@MotoGiant
Another good one! I'm just getting into motocamping. You should do a video on your gear and how you pack it.

Another good one. I'd love to see the Salt Flats, but I don't think I would camp out there even though I don't need to stake anything down.

Seriously looking at the Baja for Christmas.@@MotoGiant
According to the Bonneville salt flats website you cannot camp on the flats, but only on the edges
You would be very foolish to camp anywhere near the track for sure

Southpark nailed it. Harley riders are a complete joke.
