I love Yuus character development, yes he starts as the anti social rival character that pushes everyone away and got e severe attitude problem, but it is quite understandable why. People complain he acts childish but for heavens sake, he is a child!!! So many compleatly miss the fact that his actual age is closer to Timothy than any of the other characters he is compared too. He is a kid that grew up with trauma to serve as a weapon without any right of choice so no wonder he is fucked up! I was not a fan of it to beginn with either, and I get why people do not like him, but the writing is sound. In contrast to Sasuke and who ever else falls into that trope, his writing and development are belivable, he grows up to be better and he confronts his errors. I love how he aknowlages both what Allen did for him, as well as how his own actions harmed Allen in return and tries to make it right despite all the bagage and conflicted feelings he still has not worked through. No miracle cure, no change of heart like a flipped switch, it makes sense.
I've always loved kanda and I agree but I also like sasukes character that both have different reasoning and their characters are very different but both of their characters are completely understandable in my opinion

Ok he made the stupid choice of going with orochimaru for power, it was the best option to aquire power in his eyes, made some sense but him switching from "I have to take revange on my brother to, seamlessly to I have to avange my brother is a bit ikky, still excusable but not great. He should need soe time to adjust there. Where every suspense of disbelife was shattered though was with " I have to avenge my brother, so I will destroy eveything he ever held dear, do the exact opposite of what he wants but no, after following that path for quite some time, having caused a lot of harm and tried so often to killl my "friends" no I want to be hokage?!" Where does that make any sense?! Redemption is one thing, but that was not redemption, he just randomly switches between very extrem positions with zero selfawareness and the last thing was just total bullshit in my eyes. What makes yuu work is, that his attitude problem and actions is directly linked to his trauma and well, he is a kid. His choices make sense in relation to eachother. He was not a very social character, but he mostly still acted in other peoples interest despite that and not wanting to, making it understandable, why people see good in him. He did not went on a killerspree against them, so there is way less to forgive, making his change of heart so much more belivable. Sasuke on the other hand . . .some of his problems would make sense given his trauma, but overall? He lost everyone he loved so he activly tries to kill his found family to compensate that?! Him switching aliances like others change underwear and expect people to change their view of him just as fast? He tried to erradicate Konoha, than changed his mind and expected people to see him as the guy to protect it and them as if it would make sense for him ti be a leader they would want . . . that makes no sense and is not logical explainable as he saw his clan killed . . . Do not get me wrong, I am not trying to tell you you cant or should not like him, just explaining, why I neither like him nor the writing behind him. Different oppinions and all, both are valid. I am simply frustraited . . . the author very much usesd Sasuke as a dramamaschine, as those typ of characters are often used, and threw every bit of logical and emotional contenuty out of the window for it. I do not like randomly create drama, just for the sake of drama and with how he was framed, we where still supposed to see him as "cool" like what he did was an admirabe thing . . . Yuu too was written to create conflict, but the conflict he creats is way more proportionaly sensical and leads to growth and several sides. It is very clearly framed as he is wrong and not cool when he pulls bullshit and he shows remorse over the ham he caused, he showes gratitude towords those who belive in him nevermind and tries to do better in turn, it is not just drama for dramas sake, his choices make sense.
@@SingingSealRiana I get it I get frustrated when people hate characters just because of what they are and dont really think of why they made those choices or even what choices they were given i understand the annoyance people feel but it still frustrates me
@@isabellastens3078 Well, both fill the same role and play into the same stereotyp: "the antisocial cool guy and rival who does not belive in friendship, sees others as hindrances to his goal and does not ply nice, but the attitude is rooted in ast trauma" Both are there to challenge the mcs optimistic and compassion focused world views, work as a foil for them and cause conflict. In both caes why they struggle and do not form connections like the rest makes sense given their past. The differences are how they are handled and that Sasukes moral compass switched diraction in what ever would cause the most drama at the time . . . .

I read the manga and watched the anime and I can confess in dgray man and hallow kanda is one of my favs
