thank you for your story, mr. McLaurin. May I ask your age? This happening 50 years ago, you must have been around for some time. Once again, thank you for your great advice and a little story to accompany it.
WOW! One - sincere apologies for taking so long to even acknowledge this fascinating story. And Two, again, wow. The irony being I actually work as a Paramedic, so am aware of the importance of time-critical situations, such as you describe. However, thankfully, hiking along the Pennine Way in the UK I am not aware of any Papuan Black snakes awaiting to snap at our legs - At least I hope not! But I absolutely take your point at First aid kits being easily accessible. Always amazed at the number of people that do not even carry first aid kits at all! A slip or a stumble can happen on the most local of dog walks! (But no I don't carry a first aid kit when I walk my dogs either!) Anyway Col, thanks for your fascinating story - and for watching my video. Once again sincere apologies for the delay in even acknowledging it - Just on occasions messages get posted that - slip through the net so to speak - and this one did. I got it two days ago, went for camping yesterday with it, jsut got home as I had to go to MRI scan but backpack is just giving me more and more trust in it. I loaded 18kg and it kept great, nothing loose, it feels great, no backpain although I didn't hike for years and I had a big steep hills yesterday to hike over. 5 miles hike but I would notice something already. Padding is just I like it, not too soft or firm and flexible. Adjusting it is easy as it can be. Everuthing is just so good I can't believe. My main concerne was a big zipp in front but it is sturdy af. Side pockets are great. Had a bigger sleeping bag and a mat and still has space in bottom compartment for a pillow and ultralight jacket. Pocket on a side I use for holding peperspray and one on a chest straps. I didn't have trekking poles but tent poles attached to designated place and kept them firm and not loose at all. I was testing big tent for a car travel so I mounted other part on a top and didn't throw me off balanve at all. Bottle pocket is something game changing, so so so easy to reach for bottlle, no shoulder cramps. 10/10 honestly, for that much money and what you got and how it performs
Fantastic - Thank you, that sounds as if it performed really well - So glad to hear that! Thank you for letting me know. Hope the MRI scan was ok - And may you have many new adventures! All the best - Adam

@@justgetoutthereguy IThanks for replying to my cmments! No, I don't really mind my age, but you do notice it. Good video, think I will go for this. Bottle holder reminds me of my ancient Pro-action hiking bag I used when I was in scouts. Did a good leg of walking with no hydration because I couldn’t reach the bottle, I thought I had dropped it, weren’t till I set up camp I found it!
Thank you for your well done review. I recently got the 70L version. Everything seems great just noticed there is a space area where my back doesn’t touch the backpack. Is this normal for telling backpacks? Just curious if that lack of support causes any back discomfort? Thank you.

I'm curious about the realistic main compartment height when the other pouches are full.....would you say a tent that packs to 18" long will fit well? The tent you showed packs to 16.5", and it seemed to have height to spare. Thanks in advance.
Hi, apologies for delayed reply. I have just measured space, and yes 18' should fit, however only just! Max height I would suggest - Will be cozy in there! Hope this helps - thanks for watching - Adam

err.... Just been & checked - not really - there are little cord loops on each zipper, I guess you could pop a small padlock through to secure zips, but not exactly Fort Knox...
Great video Adam. I down sized my 3 season setup not too long ago (you can see the system on a test walk on my channel), but have yet to test it out in anger due to my ankles flaring up on that walk, and I haven't been out since. Now sat with my ankle on a stool following key hole surgery on Wednesday. Not had a pint in a week (due to the meds) and gagging for a swift one. All the best.
there was still plenty of room to pack 2-3 sets of clothes as well right? Fleece pants/jackets etc Im in doubt if i should get the 50L or 70L version of this bag for 2-5 day trekkings. I think 50L should do fine
Decathlon is typically my plan one for gear. If I find something better elsewhere and an willing to spend more, I will, but often, they hit the sweet spot for me.
I think you've got yourself a bargain for £50 Mate. Looks very good and from the vid just the perfect size. Looking forward to seeing this one in action on a vid very soon. 👍
Hi Mark, yes really pleased with it, just hope it performs ok - loof fwd to finding out! See u still getting plenty of rides in! Must be super bike fit! So need to get back out on mine 🤔so much I need to do... So little time... 🙈 All the best mate and thanks - Adam 👍
Do you suggest this one instead of the classic mh-500? I prefer this one of the video at a first view, but I don't understand why it looks more complete and it cost less 🙄🙄😅 what I am missing?
TBH I am unable to comment, I do not know this MH 500 - although I have just looked it up - But at first glance I still see the full length zip access as a big selling point for for this particular sack - Thanks for watching - Adam
Does the Decathlon store have a sale like many stores just after Christmas. Quite fancy paying a visit to the store near me ... not that near really after 🎅 has given me some 💰
Hi thanks for watching, tbh not sure about sales, well worth checking out the website I guess - with everything going on - an online visit is probably the best option! Thanks for watching - Merry Christmas all the best - Adam 👍
I want a backpack for a 2-4 days hiking trips and I have the Salewa Denali II 2 tent(Pack Dimensions: 47 x 20 x 14cm). Osprey Talon 42L(69x 31x 27cm) is fine for me, but due to the cost I find that one as a very good option. But and the dimensions of Forclaz trek 100 50L, are 58 x 26 x 26 cm and I'm not sure that it will work for me. On the other hand Osprey's backpack is 6 liters smaller than this one, so Forclaz will meet me requirements. What is your advice?
Sorry for delay... Wow gonna be honest not sure, put it this way if it is a longer duration hike - sounds to me like you are gonna need max space, so possibly this 50L might not be sufficient. I have only used this for day or 1 nighters - anything more than that I would personally want bigger capacity! All the best thanks for watching - Adam 😀
That central zip makes me nervous. That thing faulters or gets caught mid trip, shits going everywhere & no "fail safe". I am intrigued of the easy fit system though but that zip has me hesitating. What are your thoughts on it?
Think I actually mention that on the video. Yes. Concerned me too, but used the bag a few times with no problems. But yes, if that zip gives out... foobar. But alas still think it's a good quality bag for the money - thanks for watching 👍
If it does, you can wrap some paracord tight around to hold everything in place. Has a 10 yr warrantee so I think zip failure would be refund or replace.
l am about to buy this or other model, Are there zips round the side to get into the main compartment as only see access to main compartment fromt eh central zip and the hole at the top
Well I have used it a few times and I am genuinely impressed with it! It does encourage me to pack slightly less - something I find very difficult! particularly as I like to film my adventures, I do have a bit of camera equipment, chargers etc to pack as well - But generally - very happy with the bag! Thanks again for watching - Adam
Looks just the ticket what I'm looking for as well , love decathlon as well, spend hours when I get to go to one, same deal with wife and ikea😄 there gear is great, good quality and good price. Hopefully it does you well.
Cheers for that, it's served me well so far, not been out as much as I would have wanted, but hey 2021 is gonna be better... 🙏 Thanks for watching and comments ATB Adam 👍
I still don't understand what to do with the orange things! You simply tuck them away? You seem to have adjusted them for a second there, but I couldn't understand it. Never had a backpack like this, and so this sort of adjustment is new to me :)
Seems to me there is still plenty of space! Come winter it will be full. Was not a light pack but value for money. Decathlon a good place for bargain hunting and beginners. Agree on the bikes.
Thanks - yes there is still plenty of room, just as well, didn't pack any spare clothing! Yes know there are lighter packs out there, but (weighed!) It up, and went for this one. Cannot wait to try it out. No doubt will post results 👍 Thanks for watching and comments - ATB Adam

Very thorough review, was great to watch you pack as I'm new to all of this so learnt about packing aswell as the bag. Think the womens version will be the one I get as my first backpack for no more than 2 or 3 nights at a time. Currently wondering if I will be able to carry this much weight 😄.
HI, i found this channel during searching for Forclaz Treck 100 Ruck sack review. Great content. May i ask, how height (cm/inch) you sir ? still thinking to get this 50l version or 70l version. thanks.
Hey man great review, thanks for putting it together. One question I'd have now that you probably used it even more is : how reliable is that main zipper in terms of durability? I never used a system like this before and am concerned it might eventually fail during a hike leaving the bag useless to old my stuff. Esp due to the fact it can also be zipped from the bottom up.
Fair question and a worry I have had, but just went with the risk. I clarify it is not a heavy duty zip, so it is a genuine concern that it might one day fail - consequently I just use the zipper carefully - and although I have not used it as much as I would have liked, up until now, I have had no problems. The design of the pack is just so appealing with the ease of access, I am willing to take that risk! Footnote. If on a long trip I would possibly ensure I had a belt or strap... (Just in case!) I hope this helps thanks for watching 👍 Adam
@@justgetoutthereguy thanks for your honest point of view and insights on the matter! I might just give it a try too considering the very reasonable price! :)

Tom really kind words, so gives me incentive to do more! Been ages since I have been able to produce a decent trip video - hopefully rectify that very soon. Really appreciate comments , all the best Tom - Adam 😀
Do you think the harness is not too narrow? I was thinking about a similar backpack (75-liter version) and it seemed to me that the shoulder straps narrow too quickly from the top.
Well personally I found it to be fine, but totally an individual thing, important you purchase what feels right for you. Good luck with your quest. Thanks for watching and commenting 😊 Adam
Hi Adam. Thanks for the helpful review. You tipped the scales for me and I'm going to order this bag to give it a shot. In your video you also mention a collapsable (& utterly brilliant) USB tent light. Which light is this?
Thanks Charlie, I hope you get on ok with the bag. Sadly the collapsible light I mention I do not believe is available anymore, I have just scouted Amazon & eBay with no luck - sorry! Thanks for watching 👍 Adam
Actually just found this on go outdoors very similar! www.gooutdoors.co.uk/15908582/hi-gear-collapsible-silicone-solar-lantern-15908582/?istCompanyId=c2ec8a5d-93c1-4850-a97a-f4d89d7c99c8&istFeedId=2755fba0-7dfe-46a9-bfd0-09b37aed8b93&istItemId=warpprpir&istBid=t&gclid=Cj0KCQjwutaCBhDfARIsAJHWnHuIThju31brHtl7xEt-k0S7d0TU0r4PawpEFcxgjHm3-XECii6sz-kaAupqEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds
This video really helped! Thanks alot man. What are your thoughts now after using this backpack? I'm concerned about the front access middle chain... Is it safe/strong?
Hey you are welcome! That has always been my concern, it is not a heavy duty 'zip' as we call them. But as long as you are careful, the times I have used this sack, up until now it has been ok. Thanks for watching 😀 Adam
I like the 70 litre one......but can't justify it at the moment. Superb value. Thats a nice little "review", thank you. The only slight concern I might have would be with that otherwise excellent back zip. It needs some sort of flap, and/or a tensioning strap across ??
@@Larrypint I have now bought a 70 litre version................looking really good, especially for the price. The back adjustment system seems absolutely superb
Just love your handle, mid life crisis is where I am at too ..looking forward to learning more from you..if there's is a way to connect I'd love to, I'm in India 🇮🇳
Great review. I am really interested in the Rook 50 for my first backpack, as osprey’s antigravity system seems really good. I wondered if you missed it when you moved away from your rook 65 or if it’s a bit of a gimmick? Ideally I would of liked a pack with a bit more features, like deep side pockets, a stuff pouch on the front of the bag etc, so just checking alternatives before I pull the trigger.
Hey thank you. I still use my Rook, just when the load dictates - & when I do I really appreciate the comfort and feel of the Osprey. The 50 would be a great choice - however I really do like this Track pack, for the ease of access & pockets etc - but guessing for longer more demanding hikes - the Rook deffo has it for comfort - guess it's down to the wallet really...! good luck with your choice - regards Adam 😀
How many days did you pack for? Because that food... that’s what I eat in half a day when hiking!!! I have a Decathlon backpack as well (among others). For the price I think there’s nothing wrong with them. It’s a shame sometimes how even grown ups who really should know better get brand washed and go for the name brand even if they know it’s snobbery. The one I have is perfect for traveling as it fits in the overhead compartment in aircraft cabins if you take the brain off. Well thought through for that... and I still did a few three nighters with it with about 45km a day. Wasn’t perfect for that but still better than some other packs that people drag around on the trail. The only thing I try to do nowadays is to find manufacturers who don’t exploit their workers. Not the ones in the retail stores, in the e-stores and not in the factories in the low labor cost markets. And even though Decathlon has moved into the right direction here quite a bit in the last few years, they are still far from fair and have little control over where what fabric or material is coming from. I’m willing to spend some more on a backpack now if a company can convincingly say they are trying to eliminate child labor and produce in countries where minimum safety standards are in place. Fjållråven or Patagonia are of course also trying to make a profit, and Wisport is only assembling in Europe - but it still gives me a better feeling. Good video!
Hi - Thank you so much for watching & taking the time for your comments and views. Yes, I am still really pleased with my pack, sadly due to the lockdown, I have been unable to use it as much as I would have liked. I respect your views on child labor, I confess I perhaps am ignorant of the knowledge of working conditions for a lot of the manufacturing sources of these companies, I like many other consumers, looking more at the price tags as opposed to the origins... Yes, I was a bit minimal on the food - however, the army rations did provide me with adequate sustenance for the one night out! Thanks again for watching - All the best - Adam

Thanks Andy, sorry to hear of your ankle problems - hope you have a quick recovery - Adam
there was still plenty of room to pack 2-3 sets of clothes as well right? Fleece pants/jackets etc
Im in doubt if i should get the 50L or 70L version of this bag for 2-5 day trekkings. I think 50L should do fine
Decathlon is typically my plan one for gear. If I find something better elsewhere and an willing to spend more, I will, but often, they hit the sweet spot for me.
Absolutely - I agree - I am like a kid in a sweet shop in there 🤣
@@justgetoutthereguyI too always love looking about in outdoor shops, especially if I find something small and nifty.
@@justgetoutthereguy would you recommend it for taller guys? What are your personal top backpacks?
This was excellent. Thank you for sharing. Just subscribed to your channel.
Very welcome! Thanks for watching 😀
Thank you for subscribing! Welcome along 🙂 All the best - Adam
Just the zip down the middle - thanks for watching hope you get on ok with it 🙂
Looks the biz 👌 all the best mate.
Thanks Glen - all the best to you too 👍
Can be fit inside a fresh & black 2P tent if i separate poles and fold tent clothes
Should be no problem at all - thanks for watching - Adam
Great video man. Keep up the good job
Thank you so much 😀
Good honest review let us know how it performs in real life. Denise☺
🙏 Thanks for watching and comments ATB Adam 👍
nice review .. how is that central zip holding up? .... would be very interested to here your thoughts 18-ish months on.
Absolutely, good idea - although sadly I haven't been out n about as much as I would have liked - but as yet, still solid 💪 thanks for watching 👍 Adam
Once you have the backpack on and tighten up the shoulder strap system does it stay locked or do you have to adjust it each time you put the bag on?
Sorry for delayed reply - you have probably already purchased - but yes once straps in place, remain in place! All the best 😄
First video of yours I’ve stumbled across. Subscribed : ) interested to see more of that little collapsible light if you have features it anywhere?

What do they mean by compatible with 2 7L 1/2 Moon storage bags? Where do those go if you buy them?
Hi Nathan soz for late reply - gotta be completely honest - I have absolutely no idea - where does it say that? 🤔
Very thorough review, was great to watch you pack as I'm new to all of this so learnt about packing aswell as the bag. Think the womens version will be the one I get as my first backpack for no more than 2 or 3 nights at a time. Currently wondering if I will be able to carry this much weight 😄.
Aww thank you so much Emily! Good luck, I am sure you will have an amazing time! Thanks for watching - Adam 😀

Amazing review! Thank you :)
Thanks Josh, very pleased with it 👍 thanks for watching
Looks good mate, love a bargain! Stay safe next week and on the pesky few night shifts between now and then!
Pesky nt shifts indeed - dread them, but with hiking & Wildcamping as incentive, will soon be done! Thanks Harvey, stay safe yaself - all the best Adam 😀
Aaand remember, the bigger the backpack, the more you carry. Its really, that simple.
Very true...
Nice review. I don't think I could trust that zip in the back, get to the top of a mountain and wonder why me pack feels so light :)
Yeh fair comment... Perhaps back up straps always be advisable 𝑗𝑢𝑠𝑡 in case! Thanks for watching and comments!
Another good video, i always enjoy viewing them especially the wales trip and various trails, Tissington etc I appreciate all the effort you put in to make them detailed and informative plus the filming is always brilliant, well done and good luck, Tom
Tom really kind words, so gives me incentive to do more! Been ages since I have been able to produce a decent trip video - hopefully rectify that very soon. Really appreciate comments , all the best Tom - Adam 😀
❤️
i think im getting this one :).thanks
Hope you enjoy it Mark - All the best - Adam 😃
I like a browse of Decathlon too! We'll see how that goes in a few days :) PS. dehydrated food weighs a lot less!
I know, but I am greedy and dehydrated food just doesn't satisfy imo! I like my food too much! Looking forward to it my friend, bring it on 👌🏻😉
Do you think the harness is not too narrow? I was thinking about a similar backpack (75-liter version) and it seemed to me that the shoulder straps narrow too quickly from the top.
Well personally I found it to be fine, but totally an individual thing, important you purchase what feels right for you. Good luck with your quest. Thanks for watching and commenting 😊 Adam
Good review

Still happy with it?
Are the metal bars removable and then wash it in machine?
The only downside here is the zipper in the front that hold the large area. Hope it last. Great Video!
Thank you so much 🤗😀
Does it fit as a carry on suitcase in the airplane? Thanks?
No, too big for carry on - thanks for watching 👍 Adam
@@justgetoutthereguy thanks!!
Is it still comfortable for taller guys? I am 188cm
This or a 50L Rook? thanks! :)
I like the 70 litre one......but can't justify it at the moment. Superb value. Thats a nice little "review", thank you. The only slight concern I might have would be with that otherwise excellent back zip. It needs some sort of flap, and/or a tensioning strap across ??
Opinion after 3 months? Have you used it?
@@Larrypint I have now bought a 70 litre version................looking really good, especially for the price. The back adjustment system seems absolutely superb
i wonder... where do you put the tent there?
Does it make noises when you hike? And, Does the flap on the top extendable?
No noises, and yes top flat expands with a bigger load - thanks for watching 😀
Just love your handle, mid life crisis is where I am at too
..looking forward to learning more from you..if there's is a way to connect I'd love to, I'm in India 🇮🇳
Thank you so much - Hope you enjoyed the video - best wishes from the UK ☺️
Is there too much difference between this model and the tour lite 40+10 from Deuter?
Start from 6:38
And miss my Rabbiting? No you are right, I do go on a bit! Thanks for watching anyway 👍
6 mins later am still waiting for him to talk about the bag
Terribly sorry, you could always click the timeline fwd... But thanks for watching anyway 👍
The only real issue I've had with this rucksack so far is the water holder.
sad it's only available in black.
Thanks for watching
And that's without using the top straps and barely using the side straps...Impressive, I guess most people carry a bag that's too big.
Yes fair comment, plenty of scope for more... Thanks for watching - Adam
