💗a yes British pathe railway exhibition 1957 what a classic of a life time🇬🇧
Wonderful to see this footage! Often saw short films like this at the pictures before the main film!
I wish our trains still looked this good.
You're telling me. They're so unbelievably boring now. And uncomfortable too.
@@Ass_Burgers_Syndrome The new shiny Hitachi ones are unbelievably sterile and bland inside, and the seats are like those you find on the average local bus, even in first class.
Today's modern railway rolling stock can double up for transportion for cattle and cleaned with a hose pipe
Same here, our Hitachi built expresses are as uncomfortable as sitting on ironing boards. No buffet coaches anymore on long haul express journeys. Modern aesthetics has gone to pot!
Enjoy the ride.
No exaggeration to say that in comparison to today (😩), it was a completely different world.
The trains I grew up with:-)
Such a heartwarming clip of our great steam past !
Wonderful stuff!
You're a really useful railway.
You're a really useful engine.

The woman beckoning the steward with her finger……😳
All Aboard. All Aboard.
0:10 "setting new standards"- for reference, this time was around when the Japanese began working on the Shinkansen bullet train, to be unveiled in 1964 - 130 mph on overhead electric wires
0:16 in the 1950s they hadn’t invented the word “billions”
They had, it meant a million million.
Fabulous, i recently travelled to London from Liverpool lime Street on a virgin pendelino and it only took about 2 hour's and i don't recall it having a buffet car . Do they still exist ?
Very weird all those railways... What kind of these railway looks like American old fashion those railways?! 😟
Watching this in December 2022 as the country falls ever faster into terminal decline and our trains sit idle as drivers on 100k a year strike for higher pay....dear oh dear.....
That 100k salary ain't so great
when our currency is rapidly being
devalued to a point when it will
soon be on a par with Zimbabwe's
