YES! There's one guy named PS that did it. But he gets flakey and removes the videos every now and again. You single handedly helped me get my car back up and running (over 5k miles no issues). You're way better at explaining than he is. So, if my transmission ever takes the piss again, I'll come back to this video and consider manual swapping :3. I hear they're practically bullet proof once you swap them over to manual. M'kay!
im stoked always thought about doing this but only ever seen one other person do it on youtube. If im being honest the series of videos they did was all over the place and not exactly a user friendly video in the way of actually being helpful on how to do it for yourself.
Very Good !! I'm eagerly looking forward to the series of videos. I had an early 1989 SHO that I believe had the MTX75 transmission. That did shift poorly. I have a 2012 Focus with the manual. Although it has only 60K and on the original clutch, those are Boston traffic miles and roads. I can't wait to learn more !!
I built an unequal length header for mine and installed it, then I uploaded several videos on how it sounded. I only wish it was manual to take some videos of how it sounds running through the gears. I'll be tuned into EVERY one of these videos, man! Epic!
My wife has a 2013 Ford Escape Titanium, with the 2.5L Ecoboost, and we recently had incidents where I put it into drive, it started moving in first gear, then when it was supposed to go into second gear, it acted like it was in neutral for a few seconds, then suddenly the clutch slammed in so hard, it felt like we were rear ended. Nobody seems to want to touch the transmission, because nobody seems to know anything about them. I had to watch tons of video's to just find out where the transmission oil goes into it. There is no transmission dipstick I don't think, because I can't even fit my hand into the space above it. It's hidden so well. I would love to see any video's with information about this transmission.
I currently possess one of the problem focuses. 2016 Focus SE Sedan 2.0 with the DPS6 DCT. I’ve been searching for a solution to reduce how often i have to have my clutch pack replaced but no luck. Mine is actually getting repaired now. This option to switch it to the manual MTX-75 is most likely going to happen in the future because I can’t keep having to spend tons of money on this repair.
I wanted to eventually swap ours for a manual since I already know its gonna start having issues again. I'm guessing this is my sign. Got it at 35k miles and it has been nothing but issues since. After spending so much money on the thing, maybe it would finally feel like I got my money's worth. Its just shy of 100k miles so plenty of life left.
Anyone here has experience with a dual-clutch transmission (2016 Fiesta) that was working fine and then after a jump start wasn’t? That’s my current scenario. The vehicle was working normally and then as I went to jump start it after a week+ of non-use it jerked and through a fit as it started. Ever since then it revs to high RPMs before shifting and the transmission fault light is nearly always on. It’s dropped about ten miles/gal in fuel efficiency too. But it’s been weeks now in this mode. It also doesn’t seem to shift in to 6th gear anymore.
Smallest other car with a DSG is the VW Golf. Don't know why Ford chose to put one in an economy car. But the Volkswagen group's version appears to be the exact opposite of Ford's for reliability and how it works.
I too harbor that wish to keep and never change my manual Focus... but I live in the North East. Rust will claim a wonderful Focus sooner rather than later.
@BigBensCarsAndCycles Yes, my fiesta has an intermittent p0806 that happens and can't find anything wrong with the wiring harness, and the clutch, clutch forks, and shift motors are all brand new. Simple dtc code won't erase it. I usually have to use forscan to force reboot the tcm then it works and shift fine for a while. I have done all the touch point and adaptive learn and it always passes it, Even when has the code present. But if the code is present and try to drive it won't shift right. But, like I said if I force reboot the tcm then it works fine. The tcm has been replaced before, do you think this tcm is malfunctioning too?
If the US fiesta has the 1.6 Ti-vct engine then is similar to the EU focus , i just did a manual swap on my 2012 ford focus 1.6 Ti , there are some parts that are different on the 1.6 , online info on this is basically non existent , it took me 3 months of searching , trial and error , and i finally have a working focus , i still have 2 things that i have to fix , wiring from reverse sensor to ecu , and wiring from clutch pedal to ecu . ECU in Europe is made by Continental and there is little info on this ,no pinout , no schematics . I did all the mechanic work and all the programing by my self . If you need any info i can help
😂 i had a feeling that was gonna be the fix. if my focus was a stick it would be great. i miss my st 😞 dumb drunk hit it on the shoulder when i stopped to help a biker that got hit.
@BigBensCarsAndCycles loved the st except for the internal slave cylinder leaking at 140k the clutch disc looked brand new but i replaced everything being it was soaked in brake fluid and the car got hit at 145k 🤦♂️ hopefully the 5 speed you are swapping has an external slave cylinder 👍
Am looking forward to these series. Bring it on!!

Dude!!! This is freaking awesome! I will definitely do this to mine if I have issues!!! Cheers!
I'm excited! Can't wait to get the car!

If your's is a power shift you can simulate manual trans by putting it in "manual" mode. Sport mode also works to get more revs out of it.
Looking forward to seeing you do this, Ben!

@dylanrodriguez7274 might be cheaper than you think too. If you do it yourself. You can sell your freshly fixed dps6 and cover most of the cost
Definitely subscribing for this!
Going to be a great resource. I was thinking about doing it but I wanted a comprehensive parts and software update list.
I'll have a video for that! And you can use Focccus to program the auto pcm to a manual pcm
I've never deiven stick but i know that, for reliability, it's the way to go. I'll be watching this closely.
@SageWarriorX thanks. I'll have the first video out later this week or early next about everything you need to buy
Ben
This will be Very Interesting !!
I'm so disappointed that Ford stopped selling the Focus in the states. Fortunately they still sell them oversea.
@@robertl2227 hopefully we get them back one day. The new ones look great

Absolutely! You've still got 900k left in that engine 👍
Also If possible another video idea for ya is I've seen again 1 other channel do it but not well is a rear drum to disc brake conversion.
@@aka_king1001 awesome idea! The focus I'm getting has drums, so that's something I can do!
@@BigBensCarsAndCycles that would be awesome
There's really not much reason for rear discs. Drums get better gas mileage because there are no brakes rubbing all the time.

VW's DSG is a great unit if serviced properly. Even if neglected, they can run a long long time.
Don’t you need a different wiring harness and ECM?
@@gcposeidon0800 not necessarily. I'll show in the later videos the options
Awesome 👍
i wish my focus was a manual! i'd probably never change that car.

@Ben, I saw someone on YT who would buy a Ford Focus with DCT issue. Was that U or do U know who?
@@gilbrook wasn't me. You can sell yours on fb for what they'd offer I'm sure
@ Thanx Ben.
Would it be similar for a fiesta?
@Fuzzylumpkins02 yes, but there will be some differences you'll have to research on.
