    All the symptoms your experiencing with your mood, memory, hair, and skin could be from post surgery. At least it was for me. I'm 7 years post op and it's still a trial and error with things that work and don't work. You might find you need frequent medication adjustments until you find the right one for you. It takes time, it's not easy but remember you are strong 🦋💗💙💜

    My favourite is “Chicken Cacciatore”
    No specific proportions, you just add shredded chicken and chopped bite-sized veggies of your choice (I like different coloured bell peppers, onion, mushrooms, and zucchini) and cook it all on the stovetop in a whole jar of tomato sauce. I like to add lots of spice (chilli flakes and cayenne pepper) and it’s delicious! Reheats super well the next day too. It’s great either on pasta (with grated cheese on top!) or by itself.

    • @TesaJane
      @TesaJane 2 года назад

      I like to buy those precooked bbq chickens at the grocery store and shred that up and use that. I also like to cut the onion into “petals” so kind of bigger pieces. Makes for less chopping and kids can pick around veggies they don’t like. I didn’t like bell peppers until I had them really cooked down and spicy in this dish. Also if you want to add tomatoes they go well 😊

    I just happened to stumble across your videos today. I too am a sister in Christ, so maybe I was meant too.
    I was diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer in April of 2016 at the age of 45. My thyroid was removed in July 11 and then my treatment was Oct. 19. I have been watching your journey and all your feelings were the same as mine. I can tell you the first thing my endo told me was that this is NOT from lifestyle choices. Hoshi going undiagnosed or not treated properly can lead to thyroid cancer. Mine was undiagnosed. NO clue until confirmed through pathology.
    My report showed that It was papillary carcinoma.. it had traveled outside the thyroid. They had to scrap my esophagus... my surgery ended up being about 4.5 hours.... my husband was told tops 3. They removed 19 lymph nodes and cancer was found in three. I was told the radiation with ablation was strongly recommended.
    I can not tell you strongly enough to have the right endo. For me, not only is my thyroid meds keeping me alive but it is also acting a therapeutic, suppressing ANY tiny bits of thyroid cancer that there might be remaining. My endo keeps my tsh suppressed very low for this purpose.
    We are the DFW area of Texas and all my care has been done at UT SouthWestern in Dallas. I can not sing enough praises to God for leading me to my doctor who sent me to Dr. Holt with UTWS that did my removal. Dr. Holt did not do sutures... It was some type of glue and then I had a strip covering the incision until it was removed 6 weeks later. I then used Scar Away strips daily and kept the scar out of the sun for a full year. The Scar Away strips were amazing. I purchased the big one for c-section scars and cut it up so I could have multiple. It is reusable .. I would wash one out and let it dry and have another to cover the incision. I wore them for 18 hours a day, for a few months. You might try it if you have not heard of it.
    I cried while watching your video about treatment. I scared the hell out of me thinking of being alone during this time. Our boys were 10 and 8 when I was going through this. My husband moved out with them and our dog for 8 days. He stayed with this mom. I was lucky enough to keep the cat here. We locked her up in our bedroom and I fed her once a day... not staying in the room any longer than putting her food in the bowl and giving her fresh water. On the fourth day I was able to let her out to be out and about.. as long as she was NOT in my lap.
    That was emotionally the longest 8 days of my life.... we had a Great Dane.. we put him out back and my husband came EVERY DAY with our boys and fed him. I would talk to our boys through our front glass door and they would tell me about their day. I am a stay at home homeschooling mom... I had never been away from our boys before for that long.
    Have they discussed with you about the no iodine diet prior to treatment? There is a lot of good information online about that. The Thyrogen shots were not that bad either... We were shocked that our insurance covered the two injections completely... it is something that we prayed over a lot. We had a read that the costs of the shots (back in 2016) were all over the place.. some stated they paid over 1,000.. others said 3,000.. I remember on being upwards of 15k. We knew we would have help from my MIL should we need it... the man from the pharmacy that called to tell me must have though I was insane when I started crying on him. I totally get all your emotions. Our boys are not 16 and 14.. they heard me saying YES.. to the TV this morning.
    I will tell you .. I did not feel sick during treatment. What I was told was to DRINK, DRINK, DRINK... lots of water to flush out the radiation from your bladder. You also want to make sure you are going 2 regular as well.. to keep the colon emptied. For the first four days I was also told to shower at least 2 times a day. I did not sleep in our bed for the whole 8 days. I covered our living room recliner with a sheet and slept in it..... It just made me feel better being in the living room.. I lived with the TV on the whole time.
    I believe it was the 7th day when they did the full body scan... any place there was thyroid cancer would show, as the radiation pill would be pulled up into that area. They told me right after.. the radiation doc told me there was ONLY uptake in the thyroid bed... that was GREAT news as the cancer had migrated outside my thyroid. On the 8th day my husband came home with our boys.
    I have been seen twice a year by my endo.. if my thyroid meds are not keeping my tsh where he wants it, then he adjusts it and I get rechecked in two months... if it comes back okay at the 2 month mark then I don't give more blood for 6 months. Since I am 5 years out with no reoccurrence, I have gone to yearly visits with yearly sonograms of the neck. My next appointment is in June.
    Again.. I can't stress enough to find a caring, knowledgeable endo that knows LOTS about thyroid cancer. I did a search for are area and God led me to Dr. Z. Pray, pray, pray. God hears and leads if you let Him. If you ever want to chat on the phone.. I would be totally up for that. We can figure out a way to do it.
    I will be praying for you.. God makes a way.

      I forgot to add.. I an currently taking Levoxyl 150 mcg.. I take 1 pill on Sat. and Sun.. and then Monday through Friday I take 1 and a half... yes my endo is that specific. I been blessed to have no issues around the thyroid meds. My hair thinned after surgery.. I believe it was due more to the, being put under, than anything else. It took about four years before it was back to being CLOSE to normal. I still having shedding at times.. going through a phase right now. Something else I pray about. God cares about all our concerns.... even our hair.

    PLEASE stop what you are doing to your body, especially around your daughters. Hearing a mother be critical of her weight and body in general can destroy a little girl’s self esteem later down the road. I would know. My sister would know. It’s toxic. Show your daughters you loving and embracing a new you. You are the same to them no matter what. But they will remember that there is something awful about ‘back fat’ or ‘creases’ if they see/hear this kind of talk. You instil self-worth in them. But you can also instil self hatred.

      At the same time, though, if you notice sudden changes to your body (whether it's how you look or how you feel, it's worth mentioning to your doctor. Low levels of thyroid stimulating hormone can cause weight gain - you may just need a higher dose of levothyroxine.

    I've followed you for a long time. I know this is harsh, but you need to hear it. We are entitled in this country! We have the best medical care and treatments that so many people can't get. When you make a decision to have multiple children you should always think... what if something happens to me.. Life is not promised. I chose to have one child because I know life can slap you in the face at any time! You chose to have the family you do, so appreciate it and remember you brought those children in the world even at your worst you have to put your self pity aside and raise them. You have started to complain more and more about little things your voice your family .. now your hair! I'm being hard because someone had to remind me when I was diagnosed that even though I'm bed ridden blind in one eye my hair has fallen out I'm in terrible pain I cant even talk because of the swelling of my brain. Stop obsessing about how you sound your alive!! I remember this is why I only had one child and he is my bestfriend. I am never angry and I'm so blessed to have my son and husband. Things can be a lot worse! Maybe get on some anxiety meds to help you be more positive. Because you gotta find the best in this situation. All those babies need you, you brought them in this world they depend on you, and when I hear you saying how frustrated and overwhelmed you are that makes no sense.. didn't it ever cross your mind that life isn't promised health isn't promised. You got to stop being so negative it will make things worse and your children need the mom they know!! Fight take your anger and fight this!

    Don't know who told you that thyroid cancer always comes back somewhere else but that's absolutely not true. The sooner you do the radiation, the better! Please, do it. Go ask more widely and you'll find so many people who are now 15 or 25 years away from their diagnosis and had zero recurrences. Once it's starting to spread, that's when it gets trickier but even then at the lymph nodes stage, radiation has amazing chances to do the job for good. Risks are far greater if you don't do it. It's a slow spreading cancer (in most cases), so one needs to use it as an advantage and tackle it when the chances are high to cure it.

    • @CaroleBouchard1
      @CaroleBouchard1 2 года назад

      @@LucyABE84 Those groups tend to focus on all that goes wrong (I know first hand) so it’s worth looking at overall statistics. It’s def not « always » coming back, there are loads of cases where it never did. People who get cured rarely go back unfortunately into those groups to say they’re fine every year. Better for the mindset to focus on that! I got my thyroid out, got zero complications and the micro suspicious stuff got all taken out. I’m in the lucky ones with nothing more to do, I know… But I was ready to do radiation (and those groups were freaking me out with all the scary stories and the suffering) if needed as my docs put me in front of the overall stats and they’re good. Those groups are amazing support but sometimes it’s also good to take a step back. Hope all will turn good for you too!

    Will they do a nuclear scan? If it’s less than 10% thyroid tissue you won’t even need radiation. It’s 1 pill and done. They will follow your labs every 3-4 months . If your thyroglobulin antibodies rise you could have thyroid cancer somewhere else, but they will know quickly. I had labs every 4 months and a chest x-ray every year and my cancer never came back. Your thyroid effects everything. I gained 5 lbs because they adjusted my meds down. You will feel better , hang in there. It takes awhile to get everything adjusted. I would take thyroid cancer over brain or ovarian cancer but that’s not saying much. It still sucks and it’s a lifetime thing, but once everything is adjusted correctly you won’t think about it every day. Maybe vitamin E oil would help your keloid or massage to break it up a bit. Hang in there!

    Girl, Thyroid is a reason for hair loss, there is a vitamin (Biotin) that you can take for regrowth. Also, the weight gain is crazy, before I was diagnosed with hashimotos I gained like 5-8 pounds in one day. I found cream makes me gain weight and eating bread makes me lose weight. It is strange. You're going to have to figure out what works for you. I started doing (YOGA) H.I.I.T High-Intensity Introvert Training, I shed 5 inches off my waist in under 3 weeks. Also, in my thyroid group, I have come across a more natural Synthroid called "TIROSINT" and ask your doctor about it. I haven't asked mine, but I have heard many people having great results with their symptoms and such.

    Anything with steroid..shots...pills..will cause weight gain. I had same issue when I had Leukemia. I was on oral steroid and I swelled up but it was a lot because I was on it non stop for a while. If you are getting shots/pills/creams with steroid it can totally cause the weight gain. The good thing though is it doesn't stay that way. It will come back off but do what you need now to fight this mess. Do the radiation girlie...if not for you do it for your kids and husband. 💝 You can do this but don't wait too long because the clock is ticking💪 Sutton will be fine with formula 👌

    Here is the other book....they are just so awesome but the first one in my other comment has more GF, so try that one first. Also keto can help with weight gain, but if it is hormonal ie thyroid related, the medication balancing will make the biggest difference. Kisses to you momma

    Hi Lucy, you can use a whistle to call the kids, just like football referees do.

      My voice has gained even more strength since this video was recorded. Or so it feels. No need for a whistle now at least.

    Cut yourself some slack! There’s been so much for you to come to terms with. Your poor body’s been through so much, give it a minute to find some new normality. Instead of highlighting the things that u see as -ve, celebrate how much ur body has tolerated & coped with all that’s been asked of it both physically & mentally. This will b a marathon not a sprint…sending u positivity from across the pond x
