  • An intro to how the Stradella bass system works. Intimidated at first, it's a lot simpler once put into context. It's a pretty cool system that makes a lot of sense.

    Thanks to Necz0r from Wikipedia for the Stradella bass chart.

    There's a terrific chaotic energy going on here, but it's still more informative than half the stuff I was running into prior.

    Thank you for adding the actual notes and intervals etc by means of a chart. This is the first video after watching dozens that has made it clear as to what values and intervals are. This has now explained it to me. Thanks so very much 👌🌌🌠

    omg, you are awsome!!!! I've been searching for a tutorial like this for quite a while and you explained it perfectly! I used to play synthesizer so that part was the only thing I didn't understood. Now I'm playing Dirty old town, my first song on accordion, and thanx to you, I can also play bass/chords. Thank you so very much!

      Glad it works for you. I always was frustrated with the other channels, even though they're way better accordionists than me ;-P

    Thanks, I understand finally. I just picked up an accordion at an estate sale and I couldn't figure it out. It has a 12x4 bass but the first 4 rows are the same as your bass. What a brilliant instrument!

    Of course there are 12 Bass Notes & 48 Chords (Major, Minor, 7th, & Diminished) in total because what the inventor did rather cleverly is to have all the buttons that play the same Note/Chord move together, this way it's easier to reach.

    As Joe Gancher writes - accordion bass goes UP in 5ths and DOWN in 4ths. Please teach well.

      Welcome aboard the accordion train! I recommend the stradella bass and going with a learner's size of a standard accordion... basically, what you see in this video

    I have a 48 bass piano accordion, I really want to play one particular song, but it requires 7th chords. Is it possible to bypass this by playing for example C E Bb simultaneously and get the same effect as C7. Is it feasible?

    • @jordanaccordion
      @jordanaccordion  9 лет назад +1

      John Contoso You can do it, but it takes practice. I have friends that were limited by an accordion without the 7ths row, and they simply practiced left-hand melodies/bass lines incorporating all of these notes (C E Bb as you noted, for example). It might sound cleaner that way than to press them all at the same time--might sound a little ugly depending on your model. Hope that helps.

    That tatty bass strap is probably a consequence of wearing a watch on the left arm. Using 3/2 (for bass/chord) is a waste of the 4th finger. 4/3 is much more logical, for instance, for alternating Root and 5th bass.

      @@clawmansegele1988 are you being facetious ... my question is coming form someone that has no clue about music.. but I do enjoy it and I do hear when its not right. but I don't know witch base not to play and when... do you understand the question. for someone musically inclined it might be so obvious but for mi it is incomprehensible

    Piano side is easy (maybe because I used to play the piano 15years ago, though I hated it as it never offered anything I want to hear), stradella side is hard
    Its even harder when you move the bellows and your left hand completly looses a sense of direction

    • @jordanaccordion
      @jordanaccordion  Год назад

      Yup, three things at once. The piano side is super easy, especially if you have an intuitive sense of tone (which grows with time, anyway)
      The stradella, on the other hand, eventually becomes intuitive as a feel-thing, not as a hear-thing. You have to really practice it.
