Jeffrey, I get this feeling too. I've been holding out for the main course watch, and to satiate that watch demon, I've been playing around with different straps on my daily wear watches. NATOs, FKM rubber, and bracelet swaps have lead to staying the path for the watches that I really, really want. Part of that is avoiding the impulse buys, and making sure that I'm not digging myself into a hole when making a purchase. Thanks for another insightful video!
- Kazoo was an alien on Flintstones. - Interesting , you read ebooks. I had you for a physical paper hardcopy guy. -One thing I noticed about observing anger. If you focus intently on the actual feeling you’re experiencing in a moment of anger it immediately weakens and quickly dissipates. Strangest thing.
I really dig the T-shirt McMahon! I suggest you creatively visualize the Planet Ocean or the Explorer II on your wrist 😎. BTW I don’t connect with GS but if I were to buy a Seiko it would be an SLA with the 8L movement. Best regards
You know a video is going to be good when McMahon begins it with a “…probably shouldn’t make [this/the] video”. We know you simply must, McMahon, because these videos are a public format of your inner rumination and machinations; a publicly available journal, if you wish. People like to call you crazy for making these videos, McMahon, but frankly, they are the manifestation of your “hon’ne”, of your “true sound”, to poach Japanese sociology phrases. Many of these watch RUclipsrs-and frankly, many materialism-related RUclipsrs-only show their “tatemae”, or “façade”, to others, and so we mock, oppress, shame or stigmatize those who express their hon’ne, because they remind us of our shadows. Your description of Stutz’s explanation on how to process shame reminds me of what Gabor Maté talked about on a podcast. If I can remember correctly, he explained that getting mad or showing rage for children is a natural sign that they are trying to establish their boundaries with others, and express what they find unacceptable. When adults oppress this rage in children, they are essentially disrespecting this boundary that a child is trying to set, and that conditions a child to not be able to set healthy boundaries in their future adulthood. I did not do justice to what he said, but essentially, anger and rage are natural emotions, and we need to be able to feel them, and process them.
You’ve made a impact in my life too . And I’m think you do this to a lot of people. I reduce my collection from 40 to 12 watches. Thanks Mcmahon . Greetings from Brazil
So interesting that I’ve been thinking similar thoughts today. You know that the second noble truth in Buddhism is that desire is the cause of suffering? This would imply that desire isn’t just a mild nuisance that we all have to manage but integral to all suffering. And just today it occurred to me to also call out to a higher power to resist desire and my choice was Rama. In Hinduism, Rama is a God famous for living an exemplary life and having conquered desire. Enjoyed your vid Jeff, thanks for sharing.
I got horribly angry when I got sloppy and started wearing my black sub at my desk everyday and I got deep scratches all along the bracelet after I turned down a $12 strap. Now I can’t look at it without a deep pit in my stomach knowing I’m an idiot because the case and bezel is still perfect
This is great-I have to get Stuz’s book, have only seen the movie made about him. Interesting technique for anger management. Seems related to the zen idea of getting beyond one’s ego. As I get older (I’m 66), I increasingly realize that most times I’m angry at someone it’s because of something stupid that I did myself, so it’s about disappearing the ego, which is easier said than done. My visualization of a guardian angel would be superman from the old TV series! Keep’m coming, McMahon…
Bro I am down to 1 watch the Seiko SUN 019 kinetic. I am 6'4. 355 pounds 51 years old and do not move enough for this thing. What you suggest for a automatic around 2500$ diver style huge. I am looking at the Marathon JSAR. I would like to wear this like 5 more years then upgrade. Like a watch every 5 years sound smart. I been watching you a long time. I love the longer videos. Do you take sponsorships? I sell custom knives!
Jeff this probably won't resonate with you but during my formative years i watched about 300 episodes of Naruto. it's an anime... appropriate i guess because i ended up collecting seikos like you. in times of extreme self control i like to picture myself like Naruto as the vessel for a great kaiju that lays deep in my unconscious behind a sealed cage. i know that if i break the seal i will unleash great chaos and destruction... i must control the beast or else the beast will control me
I can relate, i just bought another expensive watch, after swearing to myself i would not buy another one the last time i got an expensive watch, this hobby is definitely an addiction 😂 im going to seek help!!
I’ve got an omega SMP Rolex datejust moonswatch a few g shocks and an I watch Ultra. But I can’t stop thinking about the Hamilton Khaki navy scuba. Why?
Jeff, YOU are interesting enough. I think you should divert from watches. It’s overtaken your mind. You will justify it any way possible. I had it for 30 years and it’s just not healthy. Less than one percent of the world give a hoot about watches. I know where you’re at. Keep 2 and let it go. Everything, and I mean pretty much everything else is more important. I still hanker after watches every day. Now it takes me weeks, months and years to pull that trigger even just in my head, let alone physical. In the past it would take up 90% of my subconscious throughout the day.
But its a pleasure one. Why does it have to be necessarily malignant? Maybe there is some religious background in the root of it: suffer now, to enjoy infinite pleasure later, in some other life. I don't know.
Hey Jeff, watching your videos has unlocked a clearer thought process and created a better version of me. I just want to say thank you.
Awesome. Thanks.
This is the Channel that I need right now.
I’m loving these longer videos, McMahon!

Men, real men, must have a dragon to slay. Next watch for some, but always a dragon.

Loved this video Jeffrey, thanks for always putting out quality content for us fellow watch addicts 😂
Loving the Stutz references. Thought provoking discussion again, and certainly a good use of time.

Have you checked out the beefy Seiko SLA071? Or get the bigger Seiko SLA053. I see them for sale a lot barely used.

Can the demons be exorcized ? Idk

Is that an 62mas on your wrist my friend 😮 beautiful watch I've got the 297but might be interested in the the 147
I'm wearing the Seiko SLA055 on an OEM MM300 soft strap.
We're all slowly spiraling into the purest form of madness. Watches. Wrist watches. The horror.
I’ve got an omega SMP Rolex datejust moonswatch a few g shocks and an I watch Ultra. But I can’t stop thinking about the Hamilton Khaki navy scuba. Why?
Sounds reasonable to me. A low-profile mechanical piece is very handy.
@@yleexot I’m showing this to my wife. You’re at fault
It’s a great watch for $700. I prefer the blue myself.
Are you talking about the citizen hulk or Godzilla?
Godzilla though I love the Hulk as well.
$2000 a good price for the SLA055?
Yes, for sure.
What to do???? Get a G-Shock 9400 Range-MAN.!...of rotation.

Yes, it's a brain hijack.

Hmmm. I have no spiritual guardian or anything!
