As an Irish person I can confirm this.
The emerald isle is also a place in NC in the states

As a Brit, I've never, ever heard anyone say 'Chunnel'. We always say Channel Tunnel. British people take the Eurostar train through the Channel Tunnel to get to Paris, and the French do the same to get to London. The Eurostar also goes to Amsterdam. There are a few other stops in between, but most journeys are direct.
i think it might be americans hearing brits say channel and think they mean chunnel
Really? People do call it the chunnel. It's just a mix of English channel and tunnel
As an older American I always refer to the Channel Tunnel as The Chunnel, it was the nick-name given to it while it was under construction, and we've never stopped using it. Yes, Drew may be the only person to not be familiar with the Chunnel, it's very famous.
We call it an eurotunnel... but there was only one option, cause all the other ones have pretty good borders on land, when you can actually use cars...
we french just call it the eurostar
