Romania has a miniature of the Eiffel Tower somewhere in the south of the country too. And the engineer Gustave Eiffel (the person that designed the tower) has also influenced the architecture of our country. For example he built a bridge named after him over the Prut river (at the border between Romania and Moldova, and in addition the Grand Hotel Traian in the city of Iași (which is located in the north east of Romania).

@19:20 "Everywhere else in Europe they'll call it metro" - Not true: In Germany and Austria, where they have very extensive networks, it's called U-Bahn (from Untergrundbahn), which is a literal translation of underground (rail). In Sweden it's known with a T from tunnelbana (tunnel rail). In other words, the idea of the "metro" is not as extended as one might think.

The word Metro or Metropolitan actually came from London, not Paris. The Metropolitan Railway in London (now the Metropolitan Line) predates the Paris Metro. Most people will say it was the first underground railway in the world. It is certainly the oldest, but the Liverpool and Manchester Railway was the first - it now takes a different route into Liverpool not via that tunnel.
"Subway" comes from the Glasgow District Subway which some people say is the second oldest in the world, however it isn't even the second oldest in Glasgow.

The Americans and the Canadians have a lot of stop signs because they have the 3 way and four way stops. Whilst in Europe you have one simple rule: right priority over left. And this rule does not really exist in North America, so they resort to the First in first out rule with their stop signs. I earned a lot of confused glares when I stoped on a parking lot to let a lady coming from the right into my road (I was in the left), because I learned driving by the European rule.
Quebec for example uses Stop signs with the marking "Arret" and you can easily see Anglophone areas in francophone Quebec when they put up regular stop signs, like in Dorval, at the Rue Queen Mary in Montreal and in Westmount.

I would have thought you also would visit the Statue of Liberty at Pont de Grenelle, since that is actually the model the bigger Statue of Liberty in NYC is based on. Also I would have thought you might introduce people to the Batobus, a ferry on the Seine which is public transport. So you have a cruise and public transport to some of the bigger touristic places at the same time. And as last: I would also highlight the Tour Montparnasse, where you can have a view over the city of Paris for a low price as well, but without the waiting times at for example the Tour de Eiffel.

Depends what you consider, many districts of Prague are not very walkable, biking in Prague (did some in May) turned out being still as hard as many years ago... Though I recognize food and prices have been great in Prague. I think you should visit Paris again maybe with a bike, they made so many improvements on the pedestrians and bike side in Paris, it's pretty crazy.... in comparison Prague is still way too car centered.

@@cheeseparis1 Yeah but if you don't want to use 4k yourself it's fine, that's the second part of this carbon footprint math. For the rest 4k videos are free for everyone on RUclips, I don't use them most often but for some kind of content and some screens, 4k changes everything. For the rest I think that they probably had a much much higher footprint in the video by driving a petrol car accross Europe (instead of taking the train) than if they posted the video in 4k.

I don't know if it's still a thing or not, but you used to be able to get a better pass for the metro. They sell a cheaper one to locals and will also sell it to anyone, but you need a passport sized photo with you to buy one. It's been several years, so I don't know if you can still do this. They didn't have smartphones or apps the last time I was there 😉

I was in Paris 2 weeks ago. It stinks everywhere, it's super duper crowded like you showed and more, a lot of trash, no feeling of French style, no good looking people, everywhere everything was blocked by ugly fences, even directly under Eiffel tower!, palaces sorrounded by plywoods, exits from metro - very badly described, one line had couple endings, train didn't stop where it supposed to, expensive tickets, people pretend they don't know English... very very disappointed, avoid this place, put the last on your trip visits. You won't regret.

I have to disagree with Janek on Prague being a big city. It is not. Usually you can reach any point in Prague within 15 to 20 minutes. Or in reverse, even during rush hour, you can drive from Malostranska or Smetanovo nabrezi (which is pretty much the city centre) to the edge of the city near Divoka Sarka in well under 20 minutes. Try doing that in a 'big city'. Again, Prague is not a big city, even though the Prague metro area has 1.3 million people, this city lacks the grand boulevards (no, magistrala is not a grand boulevard) and grand squares or roundabouts (no vitezne namesti is not a grand roundabout) you see in places like Brussels, Budapest, Warsaw... or indeed Paris or London. Prague, for some reason, feels small, it does not feel like one of Europes great population centers. It is very very majestic and beautiful though, 'big' it ain't

10:15 WTF is that croissant? The person who sold you that should be in jail for this heresy. A croissant has nothing in it or with it. The only acceptable exception is almonds. Nothing else. If it has something like cream or anything else, then it's not a croissant, with chocolate it'a a pain au chocolat (chocolatine pour nos amis du sud), with apples it's a chausson aux pommes, with grapes it's pain au raisin etc.
12:02 I've been in Prague for 5 months (just came back...) and yes there are way more people in Paris than in Prague in the metro
15:55 these sellers are illegals. They are selling without permits or paying taxes. Don't encourage them to do this business and help us clean our city from this mess
17:43 that's absolutely illegal and dangerous! It is causing a lot of problems and accidents. As a cyclist myself, I put my bike to block the other cyclists to cross on the red light. This problem is plaguing the city since covid and is polarizing the debate about bikes in Paris. Don't do that as a tourist, we already have too much of this in our own. BUT the small sign is legal so yes in some cases you can. But it's almost (99% of the cases it's going to the right and signaling a continuity of the cycling way without crossing another street)
19:17 at that time, multiple companies were creating the metro. The one that gave us the word was almost forgotten but the most famous one is probably the North-South line that gave us the 12 and 13 line. In every station that was created by this line (it was one but divided into 2 later) you can see a small pannel explaining the story behind this line. These station are the one I love the most because of the decorations around the name. IIRC it should be small ceramics panes ornated with waves (light blue, brown or green depending on the station but maybe other coulours)

      @@grossibp it's about the RER C?
It's a mess. There are multiple (too much) branches so if you want to go somewhere you have to take the good train. I'm almost never using it due to that.
RER and metro are quite different and serve a slighly different purpose. RER is more used by peoples going to or comming from outside Paris (for example to go to La Défense by RER A or to Versailles by RER C)
Btw "metro" in frech is masculine but a metro line is feminine so "the 12" (the metro line 12 is feminine: "la 12" or "la ligne 12). But RER is masculine and you say "le C" or "le RER C")
A letter always designate a RER or a "train de banlieue" (RER: circle, train: square) and a number is a metro line or a tram (trams always have a T in front of the number and are mostly if not totaly located outside of Paris)
