I remembered that after seeing what happened in the Philippines, Vietnamese authorities forced all offices, schools and cinemas to be closed to prepare for the Haiyan storm. In the end, ironically, the day the storm was supposed to land, it was a freaking sunny day and people breathed in happiness. The scar of the Filipinos, no doubt, was huge, and I felt Vietnam was very lucky that time (Czech-Viet myself hahaha).
Me too. I live in the Philippines (specifically in Batangas Province in Luzon) too. It was signal/category no 2 when Haiyan (Yolanda) hit my hometown. Condolences to the dead in most parts of Leyte hit by Yolanda.
Me as well. I think negros oriental was in category 3 or 4 and was really grateful that the winds were not as strong as the winds in tacloban. Sending my deepest condolences to the families.
The lost of loved ones are devastating and my sympathy for the family but I'm a bit annoyingly mad to the fact that the father refused to evacuate AND let his children join him. As the head of the family you should be more responsible enough to know to prioritize the safety of the children. The father had siblings with him, that's more than enough people to help secure the house if he was worried. The children were their future. Now all of them are gone because of one misjudged act. A harsh lesson but I had hoped no life would be sacrificed in return.
Correction: Haiyan DID NOT trigger flash floods (these are caused instead by thunderstorms) but caused storm surge flooding, which is the main culprit behind the thousands of lives lost.
