I will request to have him removed as the administrator or take them to court. it is not going to cost much. I have my place in Cartagena and is looking for another spot in Barranquilla. They will try to play you if they feel that they can manipulate the satiation.
Definitely a stand alone in a gated community. A stand alone house outside of that is dangerous even for the locals. Better to have that extra layer of protection especially when you’re traveling .

The police? that is a civil matter. the police will not do anything. they will never take you to court. speak to other owners and the board. If you had not taken it down I would have helped you with this issue.

Now to be fair the US is way worst in that sense, to build anything in your property not only does it cost 10 times more but you have to ask for a ton of permits and adhere to the materials, dimensions, etc they want thats even if they let you do it. and if we talk about discrimination you can find that everywhere it is more about each individual than a country as a whole I am american citizenship I have no accent yet have been told I shluld go back to my country, sell drugs, being asked if I'm part of a cartel, etc . thats the reality of living abroad my friend I can assure you that would happen to you everywhere in the world.

I don't think this is about discrimination, is jealousy, and at the end of the day the law wouldn't never done nothing about it. as long you have everything legal and pay ur property taxes nothing else wouldn't happened. Colombia has worse problem to resolve than listen to a jealous idiot. I have a small apt building all rentals and my neighbors around me always threading me with cops and attorneys and you know what I said to them? Go head and do what you have to do that I do my part. now no one complains about it. they try me but they didn't got nothin from me. Good luck brother.
