#MarineCorps Maj. Michael L. Reynolds, a combat artist with II Marine Expeditionary Force (II MEF), draws a battle scene from a display of the Battle of Tarawa in Camp Lejeune, NC, Dec. 18.
Reynolds drew the art piece to commemorate the heroic actions of Marines who fought in the Battle of Tarawa and the Combat Artists who preserve history.

What about the guy drawing the Terminal Lance comics?
Max Uriate is the artist and has likely been one of the most prolific comic illustrators during the GWOT-era. Even aside from comics however, he’s and incredibly talented artist.
This Is How We Remember and Never Forget Our United States Marine Corps History and Heritage Because " Once A Marine, Always Faithful, Always Forward, Semper Fidelis, Spiritus Invictus, Always A United States Marine ."
400 military actions against other countries since 1776 shows the U.S. military is a genocide force, not a freedom force..
Go read a book, Drone of Legion..
I haven’t even started yet..
✨🤗✨
There’s no bravery like Corpsmen, photographers and artists who go into battle without firearms. Semper Fi!
we actually get fireaarms in the program as we are also active duty Marines! that said , now that I'm a civilian I will have to rely on the Marines to protect me :d
@@inkstickart I knew in WWII, even though they were Marines, Army and what not, they only went in with cameras. Good to here that’s changed. Semper Fi do or die! Ooh Rah!
@@gongfinger ya! every branch is a little different! Marines historically had Marines sharing Marines stories where as other services brought in civilians. But now we also help fill the gap as civilian and veteran artists along side our uniformed counterparts. Either the acception of some historical paintings, the work in the Marine corps art collection has to be from events that the artist witnessed, which is what makes us a bit more unique still! All great though and all important to preserving history! :) Semper Fi!
Marine first, artist second.
@@FortyMikeMikeArt finally someone else on RUclips. We can tackle these comments together lol
In every war ever fought throughout World history. There has always been artists and soldiers who turned to art to help them deal with the emotions and traumas that war leaves on their bodies.
The vivid and bright colors of Greek, and Roman Triremes whose faces were painted onto the bows of their ships, and the symbol upon the sails to show who they were. To the life size fly that was painted upon a Spartan Shield, that when up close, turned into a Mighty Lion. To the brightly colored banners and streamers that bared the family’s Coat of Arms that adorned a Knight’s Shield or Armor. And in 20th century in WWII the nose art that adorned the Bombers and Fighters that distinguished who they were to their friends and to their enemies.
Even in the Ukraine, within some of the first images and videos that came out, in one video, shows a trench which had faces carved into the walls. And then eventually we see the artist behind those faces working away with his tools while in camo and his rifle hanging behind him by its strap.
There will always be art in the battlefield.
Is there something like this in the Army?
Yes.
I want to apply as an artist, but I want to make sure I can depict the war crimes accurately. Any tips?
Draw what you see from your own experiences.

"I am the POGest" XD
I am indeed not a grunt, but have met some incredible folks throughout my two decades of service. I hope my art helps illustrate and honor their heritage.
@@FortyMikeMikeArt Of course bro! Every MOS is equally important for a functioning corps... But grunts... MUST joke about it... It's the law, the regs XD
@@PanSaltzCaballeratos😂😂😂 🍻
There's an MOS I never thought about..lol
Officer side gets an FMOS designator, we are working on the enlisted but it’s not a primary job! Any MOS can be in the program :)

SEMPER FI !!!!
Semper Fidelis
Is there a "Combat Artist of the Marine Corps"?
Kind of. The title is ‘Marine Corps Artist in Residence’ and they work at the National Museum of the Marine Corps in Quantico, Va to manage the program, artists, and collection.
Am I a bad person for seeing the words "marines" and "artists" and thinking about a certain stereotype?
No. But you should elaborate so long as it’s within community guidelines.
The main Marine Corps stereotype is that they're all crayon eaters AKA idiots.@@FortyMikeMikeArt
@@FortyMikeMikeArtprobably something about crayons
Oh, and here I thought it was going to be something original. 😂
Yes!!
Range Card Expert…
No freaking way Forty Mike Mike!! 🤙🏻😎

semper Fi! sorry am Late.
Thank you Sir for your service. All Marines are Amazing. 👍👍👍👍👍
Dang that’s sweet I never knew that
Is there a color vision requirement for this job?
No. You just have to convey your interpretation of your experiences. I specifically enjoy working in charcoal, as it removes an interpretation.
American Marines are My Heroes everytime Semper Fidelis!!!! usususususususus.....🙏❤🤍💙💯💪👍

My heroes. Thank you. KSDL, AZ
thank you for your service! semper fi 🇺🇸
Probably why the introduction of "The Pacific" series is the way it is.
I don’t think there’s a more poignant way that Hollywood has depicted the unique combination of art and history. It was certainly an inspiration for this piece.
