    Many, many thanks for yet another excellent tutorial. It was particularly useful to see what a ramp fill looks like before glazing.
    If you are looking for ideas for a tutorial, I would certainly be interested in the repair of translucent porcelain; specifically in areas where the light can be seen passing through the repair.

    Very interesting to see. Thank you for sharing this, it's a great example and really does a great job of delivering the message of why porcelain is known among potters to be "temperamental." "Sprung" is a new term for me and yet I do know it to be a characteristic of porcelain and clays that shrink alot and unevenly, when fired.
    Sprung is the perfect term!

    Hi Martin! Can you explain why you sometimes spray Cold Glaze before painting and sometimes paint first and then spray with glaze? Thanks for the informative video!

      When I spray cold glaze before painting, it is because I need it to help the paint stick to the glossy object. also it can be used to fill the tiniest of imperfections in the surface to make it smoother.

    Have you ever tried flecovit glass paper? Pretty amazing non abrasive. You can apply as much pressure and it will not leave a single scratch unlike a file. Do yourself a favor and order some online.

    With all that Masking Tape How do know we're to add Adgesive and how do avoid the Rubber sticking to the Glue.
    Or will they burn off or loosing in the Oven.

    • @marsgitar
      @marsgitar Год назад

      The adhesive will flow under the tape, following the crack. The tape and the rubber bands will stick with the glue but can be scraped off before it hardens completely. the oven is only 150 degrees, not hot enough to burn anything.

    Did you cold glaze the whole figurine or just around the cracks?

      Thanks for the compliment.
      Look in the description below the video in some of my postings for links to some of the products I use. TRS bond was my own formula, which I no longer use.

    Why you gaze it without the paint? what the purpose the several glaze on milliput without paint?

    • @marsgitar
      @marsgitar 2 месяца назад

      Because often the paint doesn't adhere well to the ceramic glaze. I give it tow or three coats of cold glaze, then sand it to give the paint something to stick to.

    When the video started, I thought you would fill the gap. Now that it’s squeezed together, why won’t it just spring again at some point, perhaps in a totally different spot because of the tension. I had the tank of a toilet “spring”. What a mess. Happened in the middle of the night.

    • @marsgitar
      @marsgitar Год назад +2

      The bonding agent (hxtal) will overpower the tension in the sprung part. It's not going to pop open again.
