I always wanted to meet Sean, one of my goals was to cook for him, I'm a chef and wanted to let him know how he inspired me through all these years to cook and to play bass. I recorded my self playing Gordian Knot's Arsis cover. You'll be forever missed, Great One.
I met him one time. He was a quiet and seemingly nervous. I was at a Cynic concert in the early 1990s and he got locked out of the Aghora concert call and he couldn’t get back in. It was probably 3 or 4 in the afternoon. He was in the back gravel parking lot and we talked to him through the fence. It was just us (my friend and I) and him. White T-Shirt and jeans. I even think he was locked in the parking lot since there was a fence. I felt bad for him. He seemed really defeated about it. He may have struggled with self worth issues. Fast forward 30 years, COVID, the passing of his mother. Was just too much for him. So sad. He was a huge musical influence on so many people. His consistency, feel, tone. Everything was so perfect. I do know that he was really into pencil history. Maybe its more interesting than it sounds.
Sean is a huge inspiration to my playing, and so fortunate to have met him on the Focus tour in Detroit, and twice at Stick Enterprises, just months before he passed. Such a huge loss, and still can't believe he's not with us. R.I.P..
Rest in Peace. Wow, I've never seen a fretless in person but it does look great. Sean's bass parts are really unique in addition to the synth that they do in their songs.
they dont use any synths aside from the vocoder on the vocals, but they use alot of trippy guitar effects. like the droning sound in the intro to sentiment, its just highly processed guitar.
A true master in the realms of Motzart, Beethoven, Paganini.... Sean Malone, your name will always be amongst the greats.

Different class, thats how bass shpuld be played. I just wish there was more footage of him with Gordian Knot
