🎼🎶🎶🎹 Although I love the songs that are on the Ray Stevens albums 'Nouveau Retro' and 'Slow Dance', one wonders if Ray has actually recorded "Rags to Riches" and is just waiting for the right album to put it on given that it wasn't included on either of the two previously mentioned albums which feature songs mostly from the same time period as "Rags to Riches". In some of his interviews around the time his 'Iconic Songs of the 20th Century' 4-CD box set was released (in 2021) I recall hearing him say that he recorded a whole lot of songs that could probably fill another 4-CD collection. 🤩🤩🤩🤩 ❤❤❤❤❤👍👍👍👍

Denis Solee and Buddy Skipper playing the saxophones.. Ray was influenced by a lot of recording artists from pop, country, as well as classic rhythm and blues. One of his influences was Ray Charles.. and although Ray Stevens never officially recorded "Hallelujah, I Love Her So" he did do a rendition of another song associated with Ray Charles, "What'd I Say". That one was in 2015. "One Mint Julep" was another... Ray Charles recorded it as a piano instrumental but Ray Stevens recorded the lyric version in 1978. Ray Stevens and Jeannie Seely eventually did record a duet together, the bouncy "Dance Tonight". You can find it on RUclips as well as online music sites.
