F-FLY (IMPROVED)

F-fly is a very easy pattern, improved F-fly is just slightly more demanding for tying but still a great pattern. in this video i made different body, i like segmentation that biot body provides and i added a little of UV dubbing as a hot spot since fish can see UV spectrum.
usually this type of fly i use for slower parts of the river while in riffles i would use snowshoe patterns.

Thank you. I love F-fly, but i always try to add some spice to flies... After some time it gets boring to tie all same flies 😃😃

@@Oholisfliesandfishing I get bored after having made 3 flies in a row :-)...Met an American at river Glomma in Norway some years ago. He had not had any luck, where as I and a fishing friend had caught many graylings on the F-fly. Gave him 5-6 F-flies in different sizes and when I met him 3 hours later, he had caught 6 graylings and loved the fly :-)

What is the hook you use? And I missed how you prepare the biot. Do you cut it to make it thinner?

Hi, hook is some chinese brand... I take it here in factory and send to my country.
You are right about biot. I cut it lengthwoto make it more narrow. More easy to wrap

I am curious. Have you tried cdc”legs”tied in front of the wing? Looks like there is room and symmetry with the natural.love your instructions and explanations of know how.

Thanks... I do tie some cdc in a loop in front of the wing. Cdc is almost always good.... Amazing stuff

really beautiful but from my point of view the less material and wrapping thread you use the better it floats. That's why i prefer the original simple thread body except for the wing i like tied forward and flip back...i'm very found about what the English call needle fly; hard to see but very close to real insect' size .

Thanks. I never thought about less material-better buoyancy.... Makes sense sometimes. I use max 3 feathers. Although its maximum two almost 99% of the time. I tried folding back.... I do it still... But not on F fly.... Here i prefer to leave this small tag. But, its all up to us. What each of us like. No right or wrong as long as we enjoy it. 🍻🍻

@@Oholisfliesandfishing ok thanks in the battle for floating whatever the material we use water is always the winner the difference is between a fly wich after diving can float more or less again and another definitely not that's why i consider the way to tie with a great importance i love the patterns witch can be made very quick and easy level to tie and obviously effective by the fish

@@pat6888 water wins. Unless one uses foam.... Which i am not very fond of. Regarding flies that can swim over and over after fish, snowshoe is great. I prefer it in faster water. 🍺

You swing this on a floating line?

On occasion. But usually at the end of the drift. Almost always i would fish this dead drifted in the surface as any other dry fly.
Occasional twitch is also ok.
And as i said, end of the drift i can pull it under surface and swing it. If you release tension fly often pops back to surface....
