Great points, and it's exactly for the reasons you said. Eventually Chinese cars will take a decent chunk of both markets and it'll be up to the legacy brands to offer a compelling alternative. I cannot believe I just sat and watched an entire 1:24 minute video. A dirty Brits no less! Lol, I'm absolutely joking around. Very good video, you kept me glues, good job! I'm a new like and sub for sure. Towards the beginning there was a car off to the side, that you went passed without looking at, I would have loved to have a closer look at. Great video, and thank you so much for filming it. That Brittish politeness made me smile when you get frustrated for a split second, as the clueless person seemingly went out of their way to stay center frame, for a good 5 to 10 seconds about half way through. Haha, thanks very much. I'll be honest, I find it amazing 600k people watched this video too given the length of it, I wasn't expecting it to do so well, it was just an idea. But very happy you enjoyed it and thank you for the like and sub and comment, all very much appreciated. Regarding the car, been trying to work out which one you were talking about. I saw a black Neta S right at the beginning (guessing not that) and then a blue Zeekr 001 (maybe that one?) or the NIO EP9 which I didn't mention but wasn't dark blue. Be curious to know which one.
Those Merc's at around 52 minutes. They remind me of the old conversion vans from the 80's and 90's we "the US" used to have all over the place. There would be big Dodge, or Ford vans, tricked out with a bunch of wood, and lighting. Curtains on the windows, mini fridges, that sort of thing. They'd usually have funky stripes, and odd shapes, on the extierior, along with some body work. There were also trucks, usually Chevy silverado's that got the same treatment. You always knew them by the body kits, and deep dish 5 spoke wheels. I actually owned a GMC S15 conversion truck. Black to blue fade metallic paint, and lots of wood overlay on the inside. I got it becasue it was rare to see a compact truck get that treatment. Those Mercedes vans took me back to that era. They're clearly influenced some by that old trend.
Then you said Merc wasn't there. Whatever those things at 52 minutes are. I just thought they'd changed badging in the conversion, but I gues I was totally wrong about the brand in the first place. Oh well, other than the brand, my comments are still valid.
No, you're right, they were all Mercs (most of them anyway) in that section, but they weren't there as an official Mercedes stand, they were some kind of customising company. Sure they're a treat to travel in, though a bit ostentatious for my liking. Actually saw one for real a few weeks back which was a surprise.
Chinese manufacturers have designed some very attractive cars and colors. I love that beautiful rose color, although I would’ve chosen a rose color interior or another nice contrast other than red 19:30
Yeah, the G9 and ES8 are both lookers. G9 is a really good car too, we'll see about ES8 when it comes out. MG 7 looks great, not an EV, but should be pretty cool. We'll see if we can get hold of one.
Haha, crazy right? There's over 70 (maybe even 80 now) car brands in China currently and pretty much all have either started to go electric or announced that they will. Expect that number to thin out over the next 5 years as competition is brutal but competition breeds better products.
I’d like the new Nio ES8 in the US. Some of those mini vans would do really well here. It’s a shame that Mercedes and Lexus don’t have one in their line-up.
I think the ES8 will get there eventually and it should attract a good audience if consumers aren't afraid of buying Chinese. If they try it they'll be impressed because NIOs are really good cars. As for the minivans, Lexus do have one called the LM, and it sells for a very high price here in China, but I think it's reserved to just China and Japan, maybe Korea too I guess.
I really enjoyed this. I use to spend a lot of time in China. Good memories and good people! I visited the Canton fair regularly and toured many factories. I think it could be curtain's for European and Japanese auto makers. I'm surprised that Europe, especially Germany, is not trying to protect itself.
Glad you enjoyed it Eamonn. The EU 2035 combustion ban is seen as a bit of a self-attack but honestly, it might be the kick up the backside Europe needs to finally take China seriously. They'll only fall behind on EV tech if left to their own devices.
Germany can certainly try but the backlash is gonna be severe. BMW, Mercedes, Audi n VW sell more cars in China than in the US n in Germany itself! They made around 30% ~ 40% of their global profits from China.
@@teohck7630cheers, I think that Europe must keep it's auto manufacturers in business for security reasons. If there's a war they might need the factories. It's early day's I guess.
@@InsideChinaAutowhat you captured through your phone I designed all those automobiles . I am the designer of all of them. Little more descriptive about them could have been more better and some of them you didn’t capture well. Good time spent while capturing the Automobiles. 🙌🏼

Haha, my apologies, I didn't go into detail because it's not so new, even if it is eye-catching. I'll ask Geely if they'll lend me a glammed up one to review.
I'd have to see the inside of the Jidu and maybe a more attractive colour to fully compare, but I'd put it ahead of the 01 as I like sedans. ET5 is great, as is the Seal. Would like a side by side with all of them.
i got an 11 years old chinese 125 cc moped. still good running engine. i only replace clutch to it after 11 years. thats why i then again bought a chinese bike that is stock upgraded. it was like 2024 125 cc big 4 bikes becomes a poor cheap parts if you seen my chinese bike that is half the price of a big 4 brand but the parts are premium than japanese 125 cc bikes.
Sounds like you love your bike. Chinese got pretty decent at motorbikes because they made more of them, it's only in recent years their cars took off and only really because they went electric.
@@InsideChinaAuto i still love it because the material they use 11 years ago still works fine and its aluminum mags still works fine. if you want to see what i chinese bike i bought 3 years ago, here it is! still works fine until now. ruclips.net/video/PqgNFh3AhMo/видео.html
Battery swap technology. Best place to look would be on NIO's website, NIO.com. They have the biggest network of that currently and they're quite proud of it so you'll find plenty of content about it. It's impressive, the only question is how necessary it will be when faster charging comes along. Time will tell.
I was watching your panda car video then this, I’m surprised to see how many car brands in China. I won’t call Chinese stuff cheap anymore but more like “affordable”. iPhone is made in China, we can see the quality is there and Chinese seem to have more options to choose from.
Oh yeah, the market is crazy here, more than 80 homegrown brands actually making cars in China and more coming all the time. Honestly, China has both now, affordable and luxury, and while they're still mastering luxury in some cases, some have achieved it. There's almost nothing they can't do here now.
The Chinese EV offers is so huge, you can choose whatever you want, the pricey you can get, etc. Hope they would arrive to EUROPE. Because here we lack off EV with good prices, and technology.
It's a bit of a beast isn't it? Probably fairly heavy but 750km range isn't such a huge amount now for many of these cars. A good 120kWh battery should achieve it, or more if it's the Qilin in the Zeekr 001.
Great question. In China bigger cities, plates are limited and often issued under a lottery system. Green plates aren't limited and are much easier to get. City policies differ but usually green plates are for electrified vehicles, so including hybrids. In Shanghai this year they are changing this to just full electric vehicles I believe.
Thousands of Chinese car manufacturers are in the survival mode now, years later, only best of the best could survive years later. So I think once they go international markets after the hell mode survival game, they’ll be invincible.
In truth, there's between 80 and 90 Chinese brands actually making cars today. Two, WM and Enovate, have announced they're on life support already this year, neither were at this show or any I went to last year. There'll be a couple more before the year is done, but also some new ones like Xiaomi and Yangwang. It's a curious, dynamic market, but it will definitely shuffle out over the next few years and some are much better placed than others. Even NIO and XPeng aren't safe yet.
You know very well about China EV industry. Back to 2008,there do have thousands of brands there, after years of competition, only like hundreds of them still exist today. But I’m sure only a few would survive in the near future.
@jieliu8088 Definitely. I remember brands like ThunderPower at the auto show in about 2017 and they went nowhere. Last year I did an A-Z of the brands today on Twitter. Thinking I should make a video of it.
Looks like China is leading the charge in EV development and new design language. All the new generation china made EV cars are making the Likes of Toyota, Luxus Honda and Audi look so last gen.
They're doing some great stuff and starting to develop their own design language now, which is great. Still plenty of running in the race though, let's see which ones survive the next 5-10 years.
This was fascinating. I think I understand recent BMW styling when I see some of the styling themes on Chinese cars, still doesn't make it right though, does it? On the other hand it makes me understand less why the Japanese are effectively committing suicide with their leisurely adoption of EVs. Great video, I'll look out for more.
Truly impressive for a country that was not visible in auto industry 25 years ago. However, if you have seen one, you have seen them all, including Koreans and others. Germans still have some edge in design and technology. I have just bought a 20 years old sporty car, from era when cars were cars and needed a driver to DRIVE it, to safeguard from tsunami of plastic autonomous blobs, controlled by... Who Knows?
I'll always love and probably prefer old cars for their character, but there are some wonderful new cars out there for people who don't care so much about the experience.
😂 to be honest, I surrendered myself twice sub 15 minutes, it just simply too much cars and make my brain hurt 😂, lots of bold and daring designs and some have beautiful interior color trims. The rest can be only told by time.
Can you please tell me how the EV manufacturing in China is doing with planning for the next Carrington event? I used to be all on board with EV (bought Tesla stock on the IPO, and currently own two Toyota hybrids), but now am very concerned that nobody seems to be interested in talking about an eventuality. The Earth has cycles, but we’ve set ourselves up for huge vulnerabilities with pursuing an electric world without any protection from these regular cycles of the sun. Thoughts? Thanks 😊
I'll be honest, I had to research that. Highly doubt anyone has thought about that, here or abroad. If it happens, I'll be cranking up my old Mini and enjoying a little cruise around while the roads are empty.
Suggesting everyone has a 50 year old gasoline car? Integrated circuits began appearing in cars in the 70s and would all be vulnerable. Even coils would suffer so you might need a diesel. Don't catastrophise so much. Most cars can survive a lightning strike. And not all cars are plugged in perpetually. If I am wrong you can send me a letter 😂😂

Thanks for the feedback. You're right though, the speakers on the stands are really way too loud when they do a presentation, almost becomes inaudible by virtue of being too loud.
Indeed. They were a smart move to get the industry up to speed and help western brands sell a hell of a lot of cars over the last few years. Though some haven't benefitted from JVs but are using a lot of talent from developed brands.
I think the Chinese are gonna be aggressive on self charging cars. They understand friction heat can be used in electricity generation. They have battery supply chains. I'm getting indication they're going to work it out..
For now a good bunch of them will but the expansion is coming, and quickly. Europe is getting a lot already, South America get a lot of the SUV stuff from brands like GAC and Haval I believe, but yeah, these guys really know how to make and design cars now.
Hello, dear video author, now Shanghai Auto Show is also coming as scheduled. Are you interested in going to the Shanghai Auto Show to visit and make a video?
Likely it won't come out with level 4 now, I've heard more level 3, but Baidu actually have level 4 totally unmanned taxis operating in several cities in China now under licence, so the tech is there.
MG, wow, I had no idea they were still alive! My grandfather used to race bug eyed sprites and MGB's! Very cool and interesting. Very cool to see the logo on modern cars. Special.
Yeah, they were saved/resurrected by Chinese brand SAIC and now make some decent if cheap EVs and a few others. Great to hear your grandad used to race the MGBs.
I lots of Australians started using Chinese car on the road, it is because they are more affordable since the car pricing had been sky-rocketing high. people in general will trade in their car before 160K on the mileage to keep their trade in value. At the end of the day, you only need a car to get you safe from point A to point B. For your everyday needs and Weekend getaway. Not for a bloody car racing on the highway for speeding fine and losing your driving license. For the reality that I will never buy Ford, Audi and Lamborghini and paying an overprice car parts replacement and servicing. So I will be interested for what Chinese brands can offers to the working class people. To treat working class people to enjoy a premium drving seat with the high end technology. But not for the bloody spoiled rich people for a change!
Well, the rich will always get rich somehow, and even in China where the prices are crazy low at the minute, brands like Geely are still getting double-digit profit margins. But the factories of Chinese brands are increasingly automated (I've seen this with my own eyes) and they're just better at developing and trusting their digital modelling. The others need to catch up fast. The Chinese will come in successfully at the cheaper end first and steadily develop a decent reputation in premium, enough to pull sales from the legacy brands.
Extended range electric vehicle. It means the power is delivered by motors via electricity from the battery, but EREVs also have an engine that can only charge the battery, so if the battery runs out, there's still chance to charge it by running the engine. The engine cannot drive the wheels though, only charge the battery. It does mean you're always carrying an engine round whether you use it or not, but gives the benefit of electric power (fast, smooth torque, no gears) with the comfort of knowing you can still have power even if there's no charging stations around as the engine can top up the battery (fuel is still easier to find than charging stations in remote areas).
China auto technology is incredibly amazing. Great show 👍❤️🇨🇳

China is definitely at least 100 years ahead in technology in car industry. Impressive looking cars. Sad the US won't see any of those vehicles.
Haha, maybe not quite 100 but in some areas they're at risk of taking a decisive lead, it's true.
🤣
Chinese manufacturers have designed some very attractive cars and colors. I love that beautiful rose color, although I would’ve chosen a rose color interior or another nice contrast other than red 19:30
Yeah, I like red in the right car but inside a rose pink, maybe a bit much.
Interesting.. the world media is not showing this
Haha, exactly. That's what we exist for 😉
Love seeing these, my favourites are Xpeng G9 and Nio ES8, liked the MG 7??
Yeah, the G9 and ES8 are both lookers. G9 is a really good car too, we'll see about ES8 when it comes out. MG 7 looks great, not an EV, but should be pretty cool. We'll see if we can get hold of one.
Meanwhile we are very happy with only one EV brand in US, it is our duty to make one person very rich. Who needs all so many choices?
Haha, crazy right? There's over 70 (maybe even 80 now) car brands in China currently and pretty much all have either started to go electric or announced that they will. Expect that number to thin out over the next 5 years as competition is brutal but competition breeds better products.
@@InsideChinaAuto and they say that right wing capitalism is the one that build variety and competition.
@@morganangel340 Haha. True. Don't be fooled though, there's plenty of capitalism here.
One EV brand in the US? Where you been bruh. They all making EVs now.
@@ja-kaz The US needs to mobilise and scale fast. Would love to check out the others there.
Very impressive indeed. Never heard of many ot these brands.
Over 80 car brands in China that actually make real cars daily, and some weren't at the show. It's a crazy market.
Will never hear also this are fancy toys for 1000kms😂 n dead
These car from the future, great video thank you
You're welcome. Lots of cool cars at this show.
@@InsideChinaAuto thank you
I’d like the new Nio ES8 in the US.
You can purchase directly from China and see if it can be air shipped to the Us
Vinfast claim their make the most advances EV in the industry 😂, they must live under the rock.
Very much so. From what I've heard, they have a long way to go but they're spending tonnes on marketing.
Thankyou for covering up the automobile show.
No problem at all. Hope your enjoyed it as much as I did.
@@InsideChinaAutowhat you captured through your phone I designed all those automobiles . I am the designer of all of them. Little more descriptive about them could have been more better and some of them you didn’t capture well. Good time spent while capturing the Automobiles. 🙌🏼
Love this video.. Great cars on display..Hope to see more videos like this, auto show.. And maybe you can look at each car with more time and make the video into 2 or 3 parts..
Really appreciate the positive feedback. I do have a few short videos of several of these cars. Will upload them.
Great video, thank you
Cheers Reginald. Glad you enjoyed it.
I love zeekr, Hope I can buy it soon in Japan.
Me too. Big fan of the brand and their cars.
Great video. Thank you.
Thanks very much. Really appreciate the feedback.
Thank you for the report. I can feel you are tired at the end, it is a lot of cars to review. However, I wish you didn't skip the female-targeted car with the gorgeous pink color at 47:51.😅 I believe it's called ICON.
Haha, my apologies, I didn't go into detail because it's not so new, even if it is eye-catching. I'll ask Geely if they'll lend me a glammed up one to review.
maybe you are talking about ORA
1. Nio ET5
2. Robo 01
3. Robo 02
Now i understand why they are the number 1 car exporter in the world.
Helps having about 100 brands to choose from (not all exported of course).
You mentioned Batteey slot technology. Please elaborate by providing a link.
Battery swap technology. Best place to look would be on NIO's website, NIO.com. They have the biggest network of that currently and they're quite proud of it so you'll find plenty of content about it. It's impressive, the only question is how necessary it will be when faster charging comes along. Time will tell.
Choosing the car here is the most challenged job 😂
I know. So many you could have.
Astonishing, Well done, Thank you very much.
Glad you enjoyed it. Now check out the Shanghai one.
The EV market here is like nothing else and right now is ridiculous value too.
How can I order from USA?
Best option is find yourself a good importer, they'll know what's possible and what's not. It sure won't be easy.
Holy cow the HYCAN V09 750+ km per charge that's impressive I wonder the weight of that car.
It's a bit of a beast isn't it? Probably fairly heavy but 750km range isn't such a huge amount now for many of these cars. A good 120kWh battery should achieve it, or more if it's the Qilin in the Zeekr 001.
great video
Cheers. Glad you liked it.
It’s unbelievable the Chinese car industry is amazing. Once they arrive in Europe the old wood traditional cars will cry hard 😉
It's such a dynamic space at the minute, so much going on.
I’m dead, Too many beautiful cars my brain can’t process fast enough!
I know your feeling.
@@InsideChinaAuto we’re the same in this
These chinese know how to make future proof cars with a beatiful shapes ❤
That they do.
How do green plates work in china? Is it like a HOV lane? Just curious..
Canadian from west coast
Great question. In China bigger cities, plates are limited and often issued under a lottery system. Green plates aren't limited and are much easier to get. City policies differ but usually green plates are for electrified vehicles, so including hybrids. In Shanghai this year they are changing this to just full electric vehicles I believe.
Thank you for this video.
You're very welcome. Thank you for the feedback.
MG7 👍
Does look good. Shame it won't be electric though.
The Chinese are going to own the car world
Own is a strong word, could be true, but no doubt they'll be a massive part of motoring in future.
Speechless
We in the west live on the borrowed time
Certainly looks that way.
@clemathieu JT 中国已经停止对电动汽车的补贴了,

Why thank you very much.
Wow the cars look amazing.
What the hell are the US automakers doing? zeeker 09, Lynk & co 03 lots of others
They do. No doubt the US, and Europe to a lesser extent, have been caught on their heels but they're starting to mobilise now.
Looks like China is leading the charge in EV development and new design language. All the new generation china made EV cars are making the Likes of Toyota, Luxus Honda and Audi look so last gen.
They're doing some great stuff and starting to develop their own design language now, which is great. Still plenty of running in the race though, let's see which ones survive the next 5-10 years.
you are the best as viewer concerns. thank you
Thank you very much. I'm flattered.
17:07 Wow, it's amazing!
Which one do you like, the banana car or the crazy MPV?
LIGHTNING CAT seems to be called GRAND CAT in Thailand and NEXT CAT in The West.
Love the weird name differences in each market.
I like BYD but I did not see the seagull which supposedly will be available for $ 9,000.
Yup, Seagull wasn't revealed when the show was on, it came after, but we'll try and get one to review.
It'll be out in April.
1:03:46 little kid is he lost did they find him.
He was later arrested for stealing a Lambo off the stand and hooning it in the car park.
can we order some of the nice auto to canada?
Try a good importer, they might be able to get hold of some for you.
Glad you liked it Tim. Shanghai Auto Show is just around the corner! Lots to come there.
Thank you 👍👍👍👍
You're welcome.
What's the currency of pricing tags
RMB, it's the Chinese currency.

It would. Could be a great mini MPV
Its like im looking at real life cyberpunk 2077 cars.
Haha, you do get that feeling with some of them. I like the SAR Mecha, reminds me of something you might find on GTA 3.
Dear, sleep tight. It will be all right 😊
Suggesting everyone has a 50 year old gasoline car? Integrated circuits began appearing in cars in the 70s and would all be vulnerable. Even coils would suffer so you might need a diesel. Don't catastrophise so much. Most cars can survive a lightning strike. And not all cars are plugged in perpetually. If I am wrong you can send me a letter 😂😂
Futuristic design open my mind, incredible chinese

Thanks for the feedback. It's a bit rough and ready and my gimbal had a bit of shake at points but the goal was a quick and dirty (1 hour 30 minutes) run through to give a peek where many can't look right now. You're right though, the speakers on the stands are really way too loud when they do a presentation, almost becomes inaudible by virtue of being too loud.
The fruition of "Joint Ventures" in China.
Certainly don't see anybody else trying as hard as they are to achieve dominance in this area.
Are the seat ejectors,in case of fire
Take your seat belt off and aim for the nearest tree.
Very interesting, actually many quite good looking cars - but I suppose most of them will only be sold in China.
For now a good bunch of them will but the expansion is coming, and quickly. Europe is getting a lot already, South America get a lot of the SUV stuff from brands like GAC and Haval I believe, but yeah, these guys really know how to make and design cars now.
C'MON. Only 33,000 more views to reach a million.

I like the retro interiors of the era cars but they need more sleek exteriors.
I'm just surprised how dusty they were. I'd expect them to be kept in top condition.
The iM LS7 is my weakness, just wait until you check out the interior 😩
Haha, it's a mad interior. Cool car, though I'm not sure I like the looks. I prefer the L7.
The jidu robo 2 looks seriously sexy... Promising level 4 autonomy probably means Vaporware though
Likely it won't come out with level 4 now, I've heard more level 3, but Baidu actually have level 4 totally unmanned taxis operating in several cities in China now under licence, so the tech is there.
I also appreciate how you're honest about the similarities to cars from the US like the tank being like a mix of bronco and jeep.
1:13:41 Y repeat it again, Aston Martin Is the great influencer design
Not sure I see it in the Buick but certainly in the IM models, especially at the rear. That Buick concept is incredibly beautiful.
Can’t wait for Zeekr X. If not mistaken , launching in April at the Shanghai show?
Yeah, I'm looking forward to it too. Highly likely it'll be a Shanghai launch, yes.
Big seller in Australia with the SUV,s
They are selling loads here in the UK.

You're welcome. And you're right, the blue Chevy was pretty cool.

Some good stuff, eh?
It seems that in China rarely MPV are with 8 seats
Correct, they're 7 max. Second row is nearly always a pair of captain's chairs.
What is EREV?
Extended range electric vehicle. It means the power is delivered by motors via electricity from the battery, but EREVs also have an engine that can only charge the battery, so if the battery runs out, there's still chance to charge it by running the engine. The engine cannot drive the wheels though, only charge the battery. It does mean you're always carrying an engine round whether you use it or not, but gives the benefit of electric power (fast, smooth torque, no gears) with the comfort of knowing you can still have power even if there's no charging stations around as the engine can top up the battery (fuel is still easier to find than charging stations in remote areas).
@@InsideChinaAuto I think the American model Chevy Volt is like that.
