Great video man. I put one in my old hunting rig. An 84 blazer. 4x4. The only issue I had was the carb. I had a brand new Quadrajet still in the the box from the early 80's. Had a bad dead spot off idle. I could put it on any one of my other engines. A 350 in an 85 4x4 and two different camaros one a 350 mild cam and one a 400 small block with a big cam. It ran perfectly on those and I tried 3 different holleys. 600 vac secondary. 750 vacuum secondary and a 750 double pumper. Every one I tried had a dead spot. I went with huge drilled out squirters on the 600 and got It drivable. But it still wasn't right. So I gave up and put a holley sniper on it. Runs perfect now. Did you have any problems like that with the carb ?
LSs are a different breed. You need to actually tune the carbs to get them to run the way you want to. Adjusting the idle mixture and speed screws isnt really going to cut it. LS engines flow a crazy amount of air a low rpm so light throttle lean spots are pretty common.
If it stumbles off idle its usually a timing issue and an accelerator pump issue which either one is an easy fix make the pump squirt more gas the stumble will go away .. it's a combination of the two tho usually timing and pump if your running an L.S on a carb then its using an msd box and you can tune it to have whatever initial timing you need and total timing etc dont be afraid to tinker w it most stock engines love timing quickly
@@squarebodyblake4464 they are both good engines and reliable, either choice will do well. The 383 has a more distinct and bad ass sound. The LS has better fuel economy even with a hot cam. I am doing an LS swap in my squarebody as well but will go with a 383 once I get more $$$

Whats power difference in a 5.3 LS and a stroker 383?
@@squarebodyblake4464 they are both good engines and reliable, either choice will do well. The 383 has a more distinct and bad ass sound. The LS has better fuel economy even with a hot cam. I am doing an LS swap in my squarebody as well but will go with a 383 once I get more $$$
383 unreliable garbage.
What brand intake and how much did it cost
Out of curiosity how would you troubleshoot any issues such as crank sensor without having an obd port?
@@squarebodyblake4464 right on, thank you for clarifying it. I didn’t know this engine was that basic. I would’ve thought there would’ve been more to it.
With a laptop through the msd
Brothers trucks sell a drop in fuel pump for EFI now that your tank does not have to be baffled
Who cares. EFI sucks.

I was commenting to the man who made the video, but I guess everyone has their own opinion
Hop back in that 5.0 with the top down and don’t let it bother you much vanilla ice
What was the name of the fuel pump you used ?
What’s you do to vent crank case pressure?
I have a 238-242 duration .600 .600 lift cam in a lq9, what selector on the msd box is best until I can hook a laptop to it? LS1HO? It's on truck right now but I only run on 93.
