I wish they didn't make so many films that portray sharks as evil enemies... they are in fact quite sentient creatures, vital to ocean health and as capable of bonding with people as any other animal.
I wholeheartedly agree you on all that as the negative influence Jaws had in the general perception of Sharks was huge. On the other hand, where things can (and have been done differently to a degree) is on some Shark documentaries (at least ones that weren't cut criminally short) the teams have started taking care to attempt at capturing footage of the animals on a more natural state rather than having a more fenzied and more aggressive triggered by using chum and etc. They are inquisitve creatures and as such are bound to be curious when something or someone enters their "backyard". Humans just so happen to be way too squishy and fragile to withstand some of the shark's "investigative tools"

There’s only a single species of shark that is capable of even attempting to get into the seine. It’s the bull shark, the only shark capable of surviving in fresh water. No shark would even go up the seine as it is as the river is not exactly the cleanest. Also Paris is really inland from the mouth of the river and no shark is recorded to be that inland from the river’s mouth. The Seine is not exactly on any fishery list as nobody ever fishes it and not many prey type fish exist in those waters.

There's a movie called "As above, so below" which is about the catacombs under France. Pretty good horror movie if you've not seen it.

Fun fact: we know that porpoises used to swim upstream through the Seine because they were a priced delicacy for the monarchy, so much so that they drew them away. Cetaceans haven't ventured much into european fresh waters since.

Doesn't make sense to put a swimming challenge in the Seine when swimming in the river has been banned for like 100 years.
The timing is crazy because they are on a race-against-time to make it swimmable again in time for the Olympics thanks to a 1.7B project...

Yes, because of how polluted the river has been for the past century. That is one resilient shark like the one in that Maneater game.
Didn't I read somewhere that since Covid happened a lot of the waterways like rivers, canals, etc. had gotten a lot cleaner since The lockdown? Of course that was three years ago now and they could have polluted the hell out of it since then.

Some ingredients of a classic shark movie- sunny beach full of kids, daring adult who surf far from shores and becomes the first victim, a high tech science lab tracing the shark/ an old shark expert who predicts next location of the shark, protagonist coming back from retirement for the last time.
But this one looks very unique so very excited to see how this turns out 😁

Now this is something i look very much forward to watching. Bérénice Bejo is one gorgeous actress and cannot wait to see her in action taking on this shark. While not even wearing fins and diving gear in some shots so far in the trailer. Now that's hot. Well, to me that is. That being said, i don't think this films gonna live up to The Meg (2018) quality. But i'm gonna give it a shot, either way.
