As someone who worked on a farm for the past 3 years with various rescue farm animals, this pack has me pumped as hell, though I would've swapped the domestic donkey for a fjord horse, which is a bias since 2 of the residents of the farm were rescue/retired fjords, a very mistreated stallion and a retired tour wagon mare. Either way, I don't think this is the last pack, yeah it's been 5 months this time since last big update, but that's probably because of the console stuff. I'll remain hopeful until Frontier comes out with a Farewell/Goodbye post or statement.
The norwegian fjord horses is among the most beautiful horses. I might be biased since I am norwegian . 😄 You are right tho. They should have been included.
@@linnea9017 It's also very calm in temper and easy to work with, I wasn't a horse fan when I started working/studying there, in fact I had a little equine fear, but I grew to love them and now I have a bias lol. Another animal that could have been included is the Shetland pony, or any other pony, but alas, I am very happy with this roster!
@@sampicano A lot of us don't want to use mods, especially if the game is still getting updated and content is getting released, a lot of people can't use mods, and many people only play Franchise mode, in which modded animals can't be used. The quality also isn't 100% the same, not to say that the modder's work is awful, a lot of it is good! But it just isn't Frontier quality (not counting the more outdated animal models in basegame) I'll buy whatever Frontier releases for Planet Zoo, I love them and I love the game, they give us quality stuff, unlike EA where they punch you in the stomach so you open your mouth then proceed to take a steaming hot shit in your mouth, and never bother to fix ANY issues with their Sims titles.
I'm surprised that so many people are upset with farm animals. Most zoos have at least some sort of domestic livestock section, and they should know that if they have ever been to a zoo. I'm actually surprised it took this long for us to get them to be honest. On alpacas, the vicuña and guanaco wouldn't make sense because they're the *wild* counterparts of llamas and alpacas, this pack is about domestic animals not wild ones.
I’m getting the impression that it’s less about the farm animals and more about the idea of this being the last dlc for the game. Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s awesome that they’re actually doing petting zoo stuff and I’m totally going to buy it, but this doesn’t feel like a final send off for Planet zoo, assuming that’s the case. Nothing has been confirmed that this is the end, but everyone is getting the impression that things are coming to a close for, yet there’s so much that could still be added. I get the feeling they’re not done yet personally, maybe they are and it’s just wishful thinking, but I wouldn’t feel happy knowing this theme for a dlc will be the last.
'Please release a farm animal pack' was something I saw ALL OVER the community so I'm shocked that this was divisive lol I thought this might be Frontier finally succumbing to keep PZ relevant.. not complaining though, love the chickens!
Requested on a lot of platforms and the overall consensus is they are happy about it. The official Forum however, the more active users are having their mental breakdown as usual. They think they speak for the entire community. Reddit, discord, social media is a lot more positive about it and most who dont like it, still think its a good addition to the game. But they are afraid its the last dlc, which could be. Pack looks good and introduces a new style in your game. I understand the need for certain animals but this one is really nice.
One of my local zoos has crops they can go and harvest for the animals. Another zoo has a deal with a local rancher, where the zoo gets longhorn calves until they're too big, and they can be returned to the ranch and the zoo gets a new calf.
I am totally down for this its gonna be so awesome!! I’ve wanted this pack for a while! I don’t think this is the final pack tho, doesn’t seem like something they would end on to me- but who knows.
This will bring the game to 11 domesticated animals. Personally people like me who dont like the animals in the pack. Clone animals are a good sign they are working on more unique animals for the last pack. I really feel like they are working on something bigger for the last dlc because that is something frontier always did for their previous games.
Me to my wife first thing this morning watching the trailer “it’s a f*cking chicken!” I’m super excited for this pack! Sure the animals are rather basic, but how many zoos do you go to that has an area like this for the little ones? These animals will be a ton of fun to build for, and the animal interactions are gonna be so exciting!
If nothing else, several of these seem like they'll also be good options for some wild animals. The Red Jungle Fowl is probably an easy one from the chickens as well.
I'm excited for this pack; I love farm animals! If people played Zoo Tycoon 2 and remember the "be the keeper" mode, this would be a great pack to introduce that into this game. You could go into the habitat as the keeper and put feed down and clean up the habitat. It was a good first-person view of the habitat and the animals. The idea of being able to create petting zoos is really exciting though!
Well, this was totally out of left *field* 🥁 I'm not * totally * sold on the chicken's look (guess I'll just have to get used to it), but this pack is perfect for me. Some of the breeds (Tamworth Pig, sheep) may be a bit specific to the UK, but overall it's a perfect little farm pack. Love the inclusion of scenery too! 7 animals and 60 scenery pieces is a great deal
The animals are great for modders to be able to work with. It'll be nice to FINALLY have chickens that cock-a-doodle-doo instead of scream like a peacock.
Once upon a time I would have been pissed about a domestic animal themed pack, but at this point the game has such a rich and diverse roster of animals that I am ready for this, ESPECIALLY because of the petting zoo mechanics which makes these animals waaaay more valuable than they would be otherwise. Guest interactivity is a pretty major new mechanic and that's exactly the sort of thing I am most interested in getting with Planet Zoo. I am personally not worried about this being the end of Planet Zoo support, I think we have more to come beyond this point.
I LOVE THE FARM ANIMALS! And hear me out. I think we could still get an aviary pack. This pack is introducing a whole new mechanic with the petting zoo stuff, so it would be possible for us to get another big pack that introduces another new mechanic. If this had been a regional one, like South America or something like that, I would say oh we won’t get petting zoos or aviaries. But…..it could be possible now.
I really like this new DLC, especially as someone who has worked in the farm/zoo/wildlife rehab field. People don't realise how much domestic animals help with dealing with wildlife. Got a buffalo, bison, rhino, etc calf thats been rejected? Cattle has been used many times in their rearing. Same with horses and przewalski, somali wild ass, some antelope and so forth. Goats are also famous for being emotional support aninals for the shyer and more anxious species along with dogs, dogs and cheetahs being the most well known example. Chickens, rabbits, pigs, goats, cows, etc can also all be used in various ways for feeding, giving a whole chicken is so much more enriching for an animal than a plain slab of meat. Apologies for the info dump, tldr; super excited to add a domestic section to my zoos

oh my god yes! Rabbits are SO common in petting zoo areas, much more than chickens I find... Oh and guinea pigs too of course. ... and doves, but maybe thats a German thing
@@Aedony We have chickens in my zoo. No rabbits, guinea pigs or doves here. A lot of sheep, a lot of goats, an ornery mini donkey, and a ham of a potbelly pig named Chorizo.
If this is the last dlc i'm really dissapointed, was really looking forward to possibly getting more aquatic animals, and this kinda feels like a cop put woth most of the animals just being clones/variants of existing ones; if theres still one or two dlcs left and theres hope for better animals later, i think this is a fun, passable little pack
I'm feeling pretty “eh” on the pack, don't hate it at all and will definitely use it, I just feel like some of the choices are a little weird. Personally, I'd switch the Alpine goat for a Nubian Dwarf goat, and the alpaca and donkey for a domestic duck and a rabbit breed.
I like most animals and petting zoo style... however wish they added ponies instead of alpacas with an area where kids can ride them... Also in all the goat species they went with alpine goat... wish it was something more interesting looking like african pygme goats. Wonder how other walkthrough animals will react to that much crowd in their exhibits. Every animal I tried so far became stressed sooner or later with the amount of people in there. Oh as this is pretty risque pack playerbase side they could throw in a duck species as well... I would love to hear them quacking around.
Personally I'd have swapped out the alpaca for a Shire horse/Shetland pony. It kinda feels a bit lazy with alpacas being so similar in looks to a llama which are already in a different pack. To me a barnyard pack should be just traditional farm animals like chickens, pigs, sheep etc. Smaller animal's like rabbits and guinea pigs would have been great too! They could have used the existing burrowing dynamic as well. Oh well, hopefully some decent mods pop up soon that are compatible with the latest update 😅
Can't say I'm *super* excited about this, the species I'm looking forward to the most are probably the chicken and the Highland cattle. But there's room for some really useful scenery items, and I really hope the new foliage pieces are good, because imo foliage is what Planet Zoo is lacking the most atm. (also please someone make a mouflon mod based on the sheep 🙏)
One of the best news I've heard about the game. Firstly, one of the long-awaited innovations for me was the addition of pets and the petting mechanic to the game. The inclusion of farm animals will bring a new dynamism and allow us to experience different scenarios. Also, many zoos have a section called a children's zoo, which includes a petting area. Being able to set up this feature in our own games is fantastic news.
I have mixed feelings. I really wanted a petting zoo pack and the scenery is amazing from what i can tell. The animals are a mixed bag for me, quite a few odd choices imo. Kinda wished they would have chosen different ones like the dwarf goat and kune kune to bring something from other places aswell since farms exist not only in NA and europe. Also missing a rabbit and duck in here. Anyway im happy that i dont have to use stand ins for petting zoos anymore
personally i think the "you love it or you hate it" part is down to where you are in the world. so many "love it" people are like "its essential to a zoo, all the zoos have it" while the "hate it" people are more like "wtf is this". personally im more in the "hate it" group. to me it is not essential, i dont know any zoo here around me that has a petting zoo area. and the zoo part in petting zoo doesnt make sense in my native language (dutch) as it translates literally to "childrens farm" (kinderboerderij) so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ it wouldnt be the first pack i skip on launch but pick up on a sale. i do find it odd that they would release an entire new mechanic (petting) to the basegame for only this pack, so i hope we get at least another one after this one.
I really think this is a great pack to get, a lot of building prices and a lot of animals is always a good thing, and I actually love the animal roster they're bringing, I love it
This barnyard pack is ok I think. I actually love how there’s alpacas as all zoos often have a farm section with llamas and alpacas. Although I did think that instead of the alpine goat it should be Pygmy goat and instead of the donkey. Some type of horse.
I honestly hoped for this pack for a few years so I'm actually glad ! But I would love to see birds. And fishes. Actually I would love entire games for those. And also a game where you grow different plants and mushrooms this would be so cool ! Anyway livestock is really cool too and I am excited but broke :(
I think they’re combining animal and scenery packs so the next one may be the final one. They did say in one of Frontier Unlocked episodes at least one more.

I'm really excited about this pack! Tho if it IS the last one, then yeah it is a bit disappointing but not because it's barn animals! I would have just preferred it to be more fleshed out with the Shetland pony, a turkey, a rabbit and I think a walk-through exhibit for the barn owl would have been great too. but regardless, I'm very happy with this! It wasn't what I expected at all (I was more so on the team of if this is the last one, I'm picturing a "greatest hits" animal pack) but it was what I needed!
I don't think this is the last pack per se, the previous packs of Planco were kinda a two-parter deal, so I feel like Planzo may see a two-parter deal too, who knows, maybe the last planet zoo pack is some shoe-in for some animal movie like planco had ghostbusters and the go-kart packs. I dunno. Also, petting zoos are a big thing, and looking at the screenshots, I haven't played planzo in a long while, but peeps interacting with animals and free-roaming habitats is quite new. Seems like a good pack, but not a 'End of Game' pack.
I LOVE IT!!!! yes i was hoping for aviaries but im still holding out that we will get one in December. I also feel the heavily wanted Latin America pack will come in July/August
I am super excited about this pack. I just wish that they would have given the Alpine goat better coloring. ( I raise them and they come in much prettier color variations than the ones in the game). Not as excited about the alpaca but I will overlook it due to the fact that they have HIGHLAND COWS!!!!

Im sure this isnt the last pack for two reasons; 1. This pack is so strange. Almost no one requested this compared to other animals 2. It isnt being marketed as ‘The final Pack’ ‘The End of Planet Zoo PC’ etc. I find it strange, that a large company wouldnt do this. Or at least have a clear indication that this is the last one

I had my own list of domestic animals I wanted, but I am very happy with the selection they chose. I don't think this is the last pack either since it is the same price as the other packs and Frontier usually ups the price and content for their last DLC (i.e. JWE1, PC)
Fair point but things change and pc and jwe got a less dlc or attention. Difficult to say but would not count on the same treatment for every game. Their formula 1 game was entirely different with almost no new features after release.

Iike the farm animal pack but they could have added a barn owl. They missed that one. At the end of the trailer they do show feathers ..... Hoping they are hinting at birds next and final pack that would make me the happiest.
I still love PZ and am so tired of the past at least two years predictions of its demise. I know content creators work extremely hard to create and edit videos. Some of you been predicting the end of PZ for over 2 yrs, yet this has not occurred. Honestly, I don’t understand it. I played, as did many, Zoo Tycoon 1 and 2 way past their sell by dates. It seems to me some of you gate PZ and are/have been wishing it to shut down for years. I don’t get it.
I am probably going to buy the pack just to support Frontier and get the scenery but I am not too excited on the animals (Except maybe the highland cows), especially if this is Planet Zoo's last pack. I am happy with the update however and hope support continues.

Really hope this isn’t the last pack, not a huge fan of the animals- although it’s looking better than I imagined for a petting zoo pack. The scenery is looking nice though There’s so many cool animals that could be added to the game still and we get farm animals…
I am ok with barnyard many zoos had petting zoos, and also they go with rarer, extensive breeds althouht I would prefer the Valais Blacknose Sheep and the Red mangalista pig. And where are the ducks? XD. I am really cuorious about the highland cow and the sceneries. May the chicken would also go well with pheasant and wild chicken mods too not just with Roasted Fingerling Potatoes. With the European pack (fallow deer, european badger, ) and the anniversay pack (red deer) and the eurasian pack (wild boar, mute swan), and the night pack (red fox, racoon)people can also build a village and forest fairytale or middle age style zoos with forest and village. Also I would love to see some chicken coop with chickens and may with peacocks too since sometimes peoples keep peacocks with chickens for decoration birds. For exhibit animal i also don't have much in mind may yes a barn owl waltrought habitat would have been cool, a house mouse, or may a barn attic like walkthrought exhibit with greater horseshoe bat exhibit.

Honestly its less that we have farm animals its more like why do we need them they seem so usless compared to other animals we could get

Love this!! This pack gave me an idea for a petting zoo area.
Personally I'd have swapped out the alpaca for a Shire horse/Shetland pony. It kinda feels a bit lazy with alpacas being so similar in looks to a llama which are already in a different pack. To me a barnyard pack should be just traditional farm animals like chickens, pigs, sheep etc. Smaller animal's like rabbits and guinea pigs would have been great too! They could have used the existing burrowing dynamic as well. Oh well, hopefully some decent mods pop up soon that are compatible with the latest update 😅
Can't say I'm *super* excited about this, the species I'm looking forward to the most are probably the chicken and the Highland cattle. But there's room for some really useful scenery items, and I really hope the new foliage pieces are good, because imo foliage is what Planet Zoo is lacking the most atm.
(also please someone make a mouflon mod based on the sheep 🙏)
Domestic animals are probably my favourites to include in my zoos for so this will be a must-have for me. Very excited for the new fences :D
One of the best news I've heard about the game. Firstly, one of the long-awaited innovations for me was the addition of pets and the petting mechanic to the game. The inclusion of farm animals will bring a new dynamism and allow us to experience different scenarios. Also, many zoos have a section called a children's zoo, which includes a petting area. Being able to set up this feature in our own games is fantastic news.

oh actually I'm really happy about this, I have a playground/cafe/gift shop area in my zoo and a petting zoo section would round it off perfectly!
finally they are adding Goats🐐🐐🐐🐐!!!!!! (also hopefully they make a variant of the goat wich is white)
I have mixed feelings.
I really wanted a petting zoo pack and the scenery is amazing from what i can tell.
The animals are a mixed bag for me, quite a few odd choices imo. Kinda wished they would have chosen different ones like the dwarf goat and kune kune to bring something from other places aswell since farms exist not only in NA and europe.
Also missing a rabbit and duck in here.
Anyway im happy that i dont have to use stand ins for petting zoos anymore

personally i think the "you love it or you hate it" part is down to where you are in the world. so many "love it" people are like "its essential to a zoo, all the zoos have it" while the "hate it" people are more like "wtf is this".
personally im more in the "hate it" group. to me it is not essential, i dont know any zoo here around me that has a petting zoo area. and the zoo part in petting zoo doesnt make sense in my native language (dutch) as it translates literally to "childrens farm" (kinderboerderij) so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
it wouldnt be the first pack i skip on launch but pick up on a sale. i do find it odd that they would release an entire new mechanic (petting) to the basegame for only this pack, so i hope we get at least another one after this one.

This barnyard pack is ok I think. I actually love how there’s alpacas as all zoos often have a farm section with llamas and alpacas. Although I did think that instead of the alpine goat it should be Pygmy goat and instead of the donkey. Some type of horse.
I mean the petting zoo is essential to any zoo so I get where they were going with it. I'll be interested to see where the mods go with this one
as a new zealander I though the scenery from the in game shots reminded me of home

I honestly hoped for this pack for a few years so I'm actually glad ! But I would love to see birds. And fishes. Actually I would love entire games for those. And also a game where you grow different plants and mushrooms this would be so cool ! Anyway livestock is really cool too and I am excited but broke :(

I think they’re combining animal and scenery packs so the next one may be the final one. They did say in one of Frontier Unlocked episodes at least one more.

I'm really excited about this pack! Tho if it IS the last one, then yeah it is a bit disappointing but not because it's barn animals! I would have just preferred it to be more fleshed out with the Shetland pony, a turkey, a rabbit and I think a walk-through exhibit for the barn owl would have been great too. but regardless, I'm very happy with this! It wasn't what I expected at all (I was more so on the team of if this is the last one, I'm picturing a "greatest hits" animal pack) but it was what I needed!
I don't think this is the last pack per se, the previous packs of Planco were kinda a two-parter deal, so I feel like Planzo may see a two-parter deal too, who knows, maybe the last planet zoo pack is some shoe-in for some animal movie like planco had ghostbusters and the go-kart packs. I dunno.
Also, petting zoos are a big thing, and looking at the screenshots, I haven't played planzo in a long while, but peeps interacting with animals and free-roaming habitats is quite new. Seems like a good pack, but not a 'End of Game' pack.
No joke Highland cows(Fluffy cows) are honestly my favorite animal

I am super excited about this pack. I just wish that they would have given the Alpine goat better coloring. ( I raise them and they come in much prettier color variations than the ones in the game). Not as excited about the alpaca but I will overlook it due to the fact that they have HIGHLAND COWS!!!!

Im sure this isnt the last pack for two reasons;
1. This pack is so strange. Almost no one requested this compared to other animals
2. It isnt being marketed as ‘The final Pack’ ‘The End of Planet Zoo PC’ etc. I find it strange, that a large company wouldnt do this. Or at least have a clear indication that this is the last one

I had my own list of domestic animals I wanted, but I am very happy with the selection they chose. I don't think this is the last pack either since it is the same price as the other packs and Frontier usually ups the price and content for their last DLC (i.e. JWE1, PC)
Fair point but things change and pc and jwe got a less dlc or attention. Difficult to say but would not count on the same treatment for every game. Their formula 1 game was entirely different with almost no new features after release.
I think they could have tried to get more diverse livestock and not 4 UK breeds and a European Breed.

I’m so excited for this one! I’m doing a John Ball Zoo recreation and tbh there couldn’t have been much more perfect animals added for a petting zoo area imo, at least for the project I’m on rn (like of alllll cows they chose Highland h*ck yeah)
The thing about domestics in zoos is, due to interactivity of the animals and people they tend to bring in the most money for zoos. Kids love it.
i’ll get any DLC they put out, if only for the new career map. i might be in the minority here but i love the career challenges those keep me busy for a long time 😂

I still love PZ and am so tired of the past at least two years predictions of its demise. I know content creators work extremely hard to create and edit videos. Some of you been predicting the end of PZ for over 2 yrs, yet this has not occurred. Honestly, I don’t understand it. I played, as did many, Zoo Tycoon 1 and 2 way past their sell by dates. It seems to me some of you gate PZ and are/have been wishing it to shut down for years. I don’t get it.

I am probably going to buy the pack just to support Frontier and get the scenery but I am not too excited on the animals (Except maybe the highland cows), especially if this is Planet Zoo's last pack. I am happy with the update however and hope support continues.

oh I'm BUYING THIS PACK it's always been a dream of mine to own an equine farm or what some call a horse ranch but they're so EXPENSIVE to own and BUY maybe someday my dream will come true just not right now

I am ok with barnyard many zoos had petting zoos, and also they go with rarer, extensive breeds althouht I would prefer the Valais Blacknose Sheep and the Red mangalista pig. And where are the ducks? XD. I am really cuorious about the highland cow and the sceneries. May the chicken would also go well with pheasant and wild chicken mods too not just with Roasted Fingerling Potatoes. With the European pack (fallow deer, european badger, ) and the anniversay pack (red deer) and the eurasian pack (wild boar, mute swan), and the night pack (red fox, racoon)people can also build a village and forest fairytale or middle age style zoos with forest and village. Also I would love to see some chicken coop with chickens and may with peacocks too since sometimes peoples keep peacocks with chickens for decoration birds. For exhibit animal i also don't have much in mind may yes a barn owl waltrought habitat would have been cool, a house mouse, or may a barn attic like walkthrought exhibit with greater horseshoe bat exhibit.
I'm upset you mentioned barn owl as an exhibit animal because I hadn't even thought about that before and now I really want that to happen.
