i dont remember exactly what was said but here is the gist of it: S: "do you acknowledge?" A: "what?" S: "did i hit you?" A: "on the last touch? yeah" S: "so then you acknowledge that its my touch" A: "no. thats not how it works, sorry buddy"
queenstownswords it should have been handed to ref. That should have been the black card to end the bout. Especially being that he whipped off his mask and said something (I can only assume as hostile) before throwing. Overall this ari dude seems like a bit of a Dick
Dookieryan but you don't care that Teddy stayed up in his face after the touch? A black card for that would probably be the most overdramatic response by a ref I've ever seen in fencing.
ysteven93 yeah he shouldn’t have stayed in his face but does that warrant throwing an epee where he did? It was past his equipment and literally over to another strip. If there had been fencers on that one would that change your opinion?
Dookieryan yes that would change my opinion but there wasn’t anyone there so... you can’t just come up with hypotheticals to justify a black card. Is he allowed to take his mask off, turn away from his opponent and scream? But what if there was a baby behind him with really sensitive ears?
That's exactly why Ari was yelling so much: he (and many other people) find Teddy's style of disrupting a bout annoying and he's very successfully trying to be disruptive back
@@CyrusofChaos I got that impression. Honestly, good for Ari. If Teddy can't handle it, kinda his problem. I did not see any indication that Simmons was being overly aggressive or constantly coming into contact with Teddy. Him saying that he needs to watch the core core seems to be Teddy being a sore loser a bit, don't you think?
do you mean the yellow card? yeah i wasnt sure about that one either. and the refs ive talked to are split about 50/50 on that one with half saying yellow card for dangerous fencing action and half saying allow the one riposte
so my theory is that it started with the touch at 2:35 when teddy hit ari late after not feeling the first hit that he got. ari clearly didnt like that. as the bout went on and ari saw that teddy was getting a more and more tilted i think he kept acting that way to make sure he stayed tilted. it was definitely a wild bout
CyrusofChaos I'm not sure if you can get black carded for that type of blatant taunting of your opponent, but I would have seriously considered it had I been in that ref's shoes. Also, why did Ari receive a yellow card after the action @10:35 ?
CyrusofChaos Lol my bad. I corrected the time stamp. As for taunting, I note the constant screaming after every touch (sometimes directed at the opponent), as well as the way Ari jostled Teddy at the end of the bout.
ari did not get a yellow card for that interaction, teddy did, and it was for kneeing ari in the chest. i am planning on posting the replay of that particular touch and seeing what other people think of it. there is nothing illegal about what ari was doing and that type of gamesmanship is part of sports
This shit was brilliant.
who's this good lookin guy?
What were they discussing after the touch that got dropped due to the unplugged cord?

Even if the epee is broken right should not have thrown it 14:20.

Or spectators for that matter

The amount hostility was kind of funny
kind of? i was sitting there trying not to crack up
Oh I love Olympic season...the amount of grudge matches always make for entertainment 😂
Christian Nixon this was not from the Olympic season. But if you want to see a grudge match take a look at Simmons vs McDowald
why is ari in these situations bruh
wtf
Sherrill t-bagging at the beginning of the match hahhahahha
Ari needs to chill with the yelling and Sherrill is really trying to rulebook every other touch.

Wow that yellow (edit: not red) card at 10:50 is one of the worst calls I've ever seen.
do you mean the yellow card? yeah i wasnt sure about that one either. and the refs ive talked to are split about 50/50 on that one with half saying yellow card for dangerous fencing action and half saying allow the one riposte
... But the card for the guard to the mask by Teddy was 100% correct.
yep, totally. we are on the same page on that one
CyrusofChaos the yellow card (sorry, got the color wrong) for raising the leg was unwarranted.
CyrusofChaos little known fact in fencing. Blow with the guard to the mask is immediate yellow or red card, intentional OR NOT
...Do these two know each other? Or did they both just make a conscious effort to be jerks? 😛

CyrusofChaos alrighty. Looks like I need to go back and read my rulebook again.
