Nope it's the other way around. The new place is actually more American because it pushes away from traditional Italian restaurants. The traditional restaurants recipes are from Italians who migrated to America.
@visualizeflow8450 you cannot get Alfredo or claims casino in Italy that's Italian American. That's American invention. The pasta done at the new place is considered what you find in italy

What’s “new” is actually just what’s really really old, which is to make good, fresh food. The “old” place here is doing more of a classic American restaurant thing, like frozen, pre-made, not fresh etc. I expected the “old” place to do better, but what’s actually old school did end up doing better lol.

Calamari tentacles are better than the rings. They're crispier for one thing, but I also think the texture of the tentacle flesh is more interesting, with slightly more flavor.

At our local restaurant, they serve their calamari with a sliced & fried jalapeños and a roasted jalapeño ranch for dipping. Absolutely amazing!
