For me it seems like an easy Liliana. Best card in the set + first pick = no decision :-) Even if I have Zimone on same level as Liliana (which I dont), I would prefer one colored card over gold card. Having two good black cards in one pack is only a minor tibreaker for me. Would you still take Zimone in retrospect?
@@JuKo-be5nx we are talking about p1p1 for which the games result is completely irrelevant. I dont see passing good black card as smart argument but as overthinking. You are still in control of what you are passing to your left (you could cut black) and only having one booster passed to you from a person, who took 5/3 flyer. Black is still one of the deeper colours.
I respect you leaning into the greed. It very frequently doesn't work out for me in this format....and I usually try to do it in Esper. That's probably why it doesn't work often though....highly contested color pairings
@@dafore_ bro, I am not talking about splashing colors, I talk about the card. You have zimone already, it is a fact. You can play zimone in UG colors, or you can splash it, but in any case you should built a creature deck just because zimone in every creature deck you can build. Even if you stay in UR colors and splash zimone, it should be UR creature deck without that flyer (he is garbage in creature deck). Yes, it is clear that in early picks you’re trying to find the way, but here are some unique situations like this, when the way is already defined, and this way called zimone. In other words - let’s imagine that you are picking spells. But u have stil one payof - that flyer - if u do not draw it, you are in bad position. By any means, creature deck without strong payoff (do not draw zimone for example) are streackly stronger than spells deck without payoffs.
@Polyakovlosha24 you don't need a creature deck for zimone. You are going to have creatures on board in UR or in any deck in this format. There are instants that make creatures in both blue and red. Also balmor's is still good with few spells. You are overthinking sinergy now. Just put zimone in your deck and make sure the rest of the deck works.
@@sliceyk3970 how does your mana base look like. What is your color fixing? You wanna aim for minimum 8 color sources on your lands/fixing cards for your main colors. This deck had 8-9 of each even for our 3rd color. There is math behind that.
This was also an outliner but bcs the consistancy was possible with so many dual lands. I do think minimizing splashes is super important. If you watched any of my other stuff i'm often on the conservative side with splashes.
What is the right card to take p1p1?

@@petrbrozekmtg did u even watch ? he went 7:0 and he picked the zimone coz 2 black rares so its smart to take the offcolored bomb
@@JuKo-be5nx I'd still take Liliana

At the highest level I think Zimone is correct because of signals.
At any normal random draft you can probably slam Liliana.

When I open 3 rares it's guaranteed that they're all unplayable, what a sick pack
Thanks as always for these. I think I would have taken Liliana. But it is very close

The point about there being a narrative and people juat avoiding a color completely is on point.
2:55 you have creature deck bomb and you taking splashing build around spells card?
It's pick 5. Blue red splash Zimone or abandoming green and Zimone are all viable options.
That early you care about positioning more than what you picked up already imo.

must be nice to go 3 colors and get all of them every game.. zimone every game.. when i try to do that i get all the same color land draws.

Dude, did you watch the draft and see the mana base? It had like 3 dual lands and 2 fetches. The green was as free as it can be in this format.
