    Hey James, great idea. One thing to mention, ya may consider using stainless bolts and nuts. A lot of other bolts can contain zinc and/or lead. Another addon for stove use could be a few coats of plasti dip on the handles. I agree with the commenter that stated about you and Dave Pearson could equip a platoon with second hand store made gear. TC and ATB, Cris.

    Thanks for another great video!! Pop rivets would be cheap and could be hammered flat and avoid most food particles on the inside of the pan.

    • @fookingsog
      @fookingsog 2 года назад +1

      That was my first thought too!!! Insert the rivet from the inside so the compression nub is on the outside...depending on the size of the rivet...3/16" or 1/4", you might not need a backing washer on the side where the hinge is if the rivet is snug in the hinge screw holes.

    That's a great idea. They do sell a frying pan in Walmart sporting goods for 6 bucks. It may have gone up in price now. I'll be honest with you. I have two of them I use in my kitchen just to put away easier. I'll have to try making one like you did they look pretty cool. What I like best is how respectful you are and that you pray before you eat. Which is how I was raised but I don't see anyone else doing it except you on here so I'm glad you have stayed true

    I’ve been using one of these cake pans as my frying pan for years, though I like your handle idea better. I added a 2nd pan to fit inverted on top of the first pan to create a Dutch oven. Make sure the 2 handles with the holes line up, then fit with a screw. This allows you to swivel the lid away to access the food and then swivel back in place. And you swivel the lid open to adjust the inside temperature. It’s also very useful in keeping the ashes from getting in the food.

    I see another option for handles on that particular pan... I notice those small squared side handles on the pan have a hole in each, so you could make a handle to hook into those as a hanging handle. Yes there's a balance issue there, but there are ways to make it so the handles won't let the pan tip when lifting it. I can think of 2 ways immediately as I type this. Anyway, the way you showed also good! I like that the handle can be folded against the pan to pack it away better.

    • @WayPointSurvival
      @WayPointSurvival  2 года назад

      The reason I didn't do that is they stick out too far and really interfere with the handles.

    Two change suggestions. Solid rivet from inside out and pot easier to clean. And last put just a bit more wire through hinge and bend to keep handles from slipping with heavier food.
