Uruguay honored Mahatma Gandhi by issuing a postage stamp on his 150th birth anniversary in 2019. This gesture reflects Uruguay’s recognition of Gandhi’s global influence as a symbol of peace, non-violence, and human rights.

Culturally, Uruguay has a tradition of celebrating international figures who have made significant contributions to humanity. By honoring Gandhi, Uruguay not only pays tribute to his legacy but also reinforces its commitment to the principles he stood for.
