A good mnemonic for afferent and efferent neurons is: Afferent neurons Arrive to the CNS and Efferent neurons Exit the CNS
    Hope this helps!

I study using etymology because i wish to know how everything was named :D
The word "cerebrum" is the Latin word for "brain." The Romans used the same word to refer to the "skull" (which houses the brain) and the "head" (which houses the skull). ... The word "cerebrate", meaning "to use the mind or think", comes from the Latin "cerebrum."
mid 19th century: from Latin afferent- ‘bringing towards’, from the verb afferre, from ad- ‘to’ + ferre ‘bring’.
mid 19th century: from Latin efferent- ‘carrying out’, from the verb efferre, from ex- ‘out’ + ferre ‘carry’.
    Cranium
late Middle English: via medieval Latin from Greek kranion ‘skull’.
    Pons
late 17th century: from Latin, literally ‘bridge’, (in full) ‘bridge of Varolius’, named after C. Varoli (1543-75), Italian anatomist.
    Medulla
late Middle English (in the sense ‘bone marrow’): from Latin, ‘pith or marrow’.
late 19th century: from Greek neuron, special use of the literal sense ‘sinew, tendon’. See nerve.
late Middle English (also in the sense ‘tendon, sinew’): from Latin nervus ; related to Greek neuron ‘nerve’ (see neuron).
late Middle English: from French or medieval Latin tendo(n- ), translating Greek tenōn ‘sinew’, from teinein ‘to stretch’.
Old English sin(e)we ‘tendon’, of Germanic origin; related to Dutch zeen and German Sehne .
late Middle English: shortening of Old French espine, or from Latin spina ‘thorn, prickle, backbone’.

the way i remember the diff between afferent and efferent is by the definition of Effervesce.
When you look up the words definition on google it's this:
    Effervesce:
    ef·fer·vesce
    /ˌefərˈves/
    Learn to pronounce
    verb
    1.
(of a liquid) give off bubbles.
Sooo, efferent nerves effervesce action potentials away from the central nervous system
