- Hi everyone, welcome back.
in today's episode i cover a little more on the triumph 2000 restoration, i bit the bullet and have removed the spindle to inspect the taper bearings & reach the last bearing in the head stock.
i have included a little shot of the bearing codes and manual diagram to help you lot get your parts list together.

Brilliant video. I think you have done the right thing changing the bearings. I am doing that on my Harrison mill. Then you will know it is right.
Thanks for posting these videos. You’ve done an impressive job of pulling the headstock apart. I know it’s a lot of work to film and edit the process, but I’ve subscribed to your channel in hopes that you document the reassembling of this machine. I happen to have acquired a Triumph 2000 (called the Clausing-Colchester 15” here in the US) earlier this year, and am in the process of cleaning it up and evaluating. It’s similar in age to your lathe, and a very nice machine which I’m thrilled to put back in service. Best of luck with your rebuild!
Thanks for subscribing , I have been gathering up all the required bearings to rebuild my machine & have recently purchased a parts washer to help with the cleaning of all gear train & shifting mechanism. I intend to get the next installment released in the next two months. So bare with me :) I've had a few other projects going on at the same time so finding time to get setup and film is sometimes tight
Any new videos with the headstock rebuild ?
Brilliant video. Can you help me with a question. My clutch shaft( where the v-belt pulley is mounted) has a 5-10mm play when changing the spindle direction, from forward to back ward.
Is this correct with this play or has something to be adjusted.
... in my experience, BOTH main bearings should be replaced ... they look quite worn out and would be smart to do them now ...
@@oldskeptic1513 when tearing down the spindle, I did check for any measurable movement in the lateral float/ rotation of the bearings & they proved to be in good condition. If I could find a supplier that could offer a replacement pair I would snap them 😎 thank you for your advice I'll keep my eyes open but the plan is to get this beauty back together this winter ❄️
