    Idk how you only have 3.5K subs with the quality of your videos you should have at least 2 million.

    great video man! got my sub. would it be possible to smelt galena in a furnace like this?

      I honestly haven’t the faintest idea. But if it’s not a de-oxidizing reaction, I would think not? You probably want to actually melt the ore in a crucible, whereas a bloomery furnace doesn’t quite liquify the iron particles.

    Another blacksmith who loves irish drinking songs? I knew this channel was awesome!

      Yep! Usually I get to go to Pennsic and spend a whole lot of time being a bard around camp fires and going to sessions with other musically inclined folks. So I’m dying to do more singing. Probably wouldn’t if I wasn’t worried about copyright and such.

    What’s the ratio of sand to clay that you use? Also is there a brand you would recommend for the clay?

    • @BennettTheSmith
      @BennettTheSmith  3 года назад +1

      Roughly even parts sand and clay if I recall correctly. I would recommend whatever is easiest to come by - I used “clay dig out of the ground that I did not attempt to separate the regular dirt from” brand clay, and that worked just fine!
      Definitely don’t make it fat at the bottom though, I burned way more charcoal than I should have because of that.

      To be fair, you weren't ever up on the mic, I boosted the gain a lot in some cases to make us audible. I've got some of refining the bloom on the gopro, its weird to figure out how to incorporate it sometimes. But yeah, gotta catch up in all the footage I've been taking. It'll show up.
