Speed queen tc5 is the last good washer in the us that washes like the old machines do. Its prob the transmission that makes it noisy but at least you know it works. And it uses water and no lid lock because it has a tub break.😊 Unfortunately i live in uk so stuck with front loaders, but if i lived in us i would either get this or find a used whirlpool direct drive or vintage maytag.
I also literally watched hours of "water filling a washing machine & clothes agitating" videos to educate myself on what's out there in the washing machine world. BIG NO on the impeller/locking lid models. We decided on the Speed Queen TC5. I was so in love with my old simple Sears Kenmore washer before it finally died, and the TC5 with its similar features was the best replacement I could find and well worth it! Since it's a little pricier, you won't find them at the big box stores, Our salesperson also told us to just forget about the "economy cycle" option & don't ever use it. it's only on there to satisfy a government regulation. All it does is throw out 3 quick splashes of water for the whole load. The TC5 totally gets our seal of approval!
I've got this TC5 washer in my basement and a Whirlpool front load set on my main floor. The TC5 is good for special use cases (towels, really dirty clothes, etc.) but it uses nearly 50 gallons of water with the extra rinse selected vs 13 gallons with the same settings on the front load. Being on city water and sewer it would be an additional $200 a year in water cost alone, not including the energy cost to heat the water, if I used it exclusively (5x a week average). I've never had an out of balance problem with the TC5 like I have the the front loader but the capacity of the TC5 isn't great for bed linens. The TC5 cost as much as a decent mainstream washer and dryer set. Sure, the TC5 will probably out last a mainstream set but with the cost to run being so much higher, it's probably a wash on any cost savings.
I plan on buying the TC5 / DC5 set (washer & dryer). I've watched all the TC5 videos on YT and this is the first time I've heard it vibrates too much. Are you sure yours is level? I would place a builders level on it to make sure. If need be you can adjust it via the legs under the bottom of the washer.
Hello, The washing machine was level at installation and I just checked it and it still is. To be clear, if you look at the washer itself, it isn't shaking. I believe that the power of it makes the trailer vibrate in the spin cycle. I'm betting if it was in a different structure it would be perfect. I love this washer. If you don't live in a mobile home you will probably be tickled pink. If you do, I would maybe talk to your salesman about it. The store we got ours from has burned down so we weren't able to follow up about the issue
@@Cryingoutinthewilderness Thank you for the quick response. I do live in a 1500 sq ft double wide. It's on a permanent foundation, so I don't think any vibration from the washing machine would be a problem. I'm replacing a Whirlpool Cabrio washer that only lasted 6 years!

I have heard there are some condos or buildings that have restrictions in getting this machines because they are so heavy. Please look into this.

See if you can trade it in for a TR5
