In a demonstration of greed, SouMu-Hybe wanted to take ownership of the name away from the girls, which was rejected 18 times in court, with Sowon, Yerin, Eunha, Yuju, SinB and Umji now being legal owners of the GFRIEND brand and their own stage names. The B-sides of GFRIEND's discography are true gems.
Despite what people say, the girls never considered themselves disbanded (they said as much on a few occasions), so it’s no surprise how they performed here as if they were never apart. Also yes, you missed Navillera in your previous reaction, but it’s the only title track you missed. Lastly, it was later revealed that both Yuju and Sowon were down with a cold during this killing voice recording (they probably passed it to each other), so there’s a bit more nasal sound and strain in their voices.
I hate it when Buddies say that Fingertip didn't perform that good. The album had 100k pre orders and it was still in the top 5 of all Korean Music Charts, it did "worse" than Navillera and Rough but not bad haha it's even their 7th most listened song on Melon lol
Their sudden contract termination by soumu was a massive betrayal. the girls were never informed about it, they found out about the news through media article that morning. The girls never consider GFRIEND as a disbanded group. there's so many instances where the girls broke down when gfriend was mentioned during their interview. Sowon, the leader said that she never stop taking vocal lesson and practicing so that she can always be ready at any time when Gfriend are able to make a comeback. Yuju got really emotional when trainees from survival show SCHOOL performed rough. soumu applied 17 trademarks for gfriend after the sudden termination of contract but all 17 application were rejected. they worked their ass off to bring soumu from basement studio to owning their own building. Yuju damaged her vocal because soumu can't afford to hire a vocal trainer for her and she had to belt high notes non-stop during practices and performances. Yuju now singing with a different vocal techniques to protect her vocal. the girls were massively BETRAYED by soumu and buddy will never forget that.
