Video's footage: Tails, Knuckles and Eggman managed to survive from Exetior for now. A few minutes later, they met in a strange foggy place, known as "Fatal Fog". Tails told both of Knuckles and Eggman about what he witnessed. Both of them were shocked about what they were told about. Then, Knuckles says that they need the Master Emerald in order to exorcise the demon. However, while all three of them were kept going forward, Exetior arrived there as well... tried to kill them no matter what it takes but the boys managed to survive for once again. Therefore, within Sonic's subconscious, Sonic kept running and suddenly saw a blue warp ring. He jumped into it and was teleported in Hidden Palace via his subconscious. Exetior said to Sonic that in order to crush down his spirit, he needs to absorb the energy of the Master Emerald but then... the unexpected happens. The more closer Sonic's friends got to the Master Emerald, the more hope and determination Sonic gained and then he quickly jumped to the Master Emerald, turned himself into the hyper form, also created a dark varation of his hyper form, known as Dark Hyper Sonic. And with it, both of the Dark side and the Hyper side were able to neutralize the Super form of Exetior by completely draining themselves (Dark Sonic and Hyper Sonic are just subconscious images of Sonic's feelings). Exetior was surprised that the hedgehog managed to neutralize his super form, on the other hand, he had no choice but to run to the "Destroyed Mind" area. Sonic was after him and then, both of them started to have a fight with each other till one of them goes out of strength. Luckily, Exetior was outmatched, lost the battle and then was erased by the beam of the Master Emerald while Sonic QUICKLY SURVIVED from it on time. Sonic fell down to the floor and then all of them realized that the demon was defeated.

Jaiz is a genius. The fight literally syncs with the amazing music, and it’s epic in the same time, fighting in a destroyed mind and reality at the same time, and then Sonic being fast running out of there and surviving. Even at the part where Knuckles begins the cleansing process with the Master Emerald and epically destroys Sonic.exe / Exeitor.

It looks like an actually good final boss battle. It has the build up, the music themes, while not original, were well chosen to fit the situation and the best ending is there to complete the package. Unfortunately the damage by the rest of the community has already been done and anything related to Sonic.exe will be remembered as yet another stain in the Sonic community. Such a shame.

As incredibly well done as this boss battle was, as well as the cutscene that comes before it, I do feel as if the ending was a little bit abrupt right after Sonic wakes up. Shouldn't there be a little bit of dialogue between the characters celebrating that they defeated the demon, and that Sonic lived? And maybe a brief conversation between Sonic and Eggman about how they've formed at least a little bit of mutual respect through that ordeal, and that they won't fight with each other at least for the rest of the day?

This is actually a really cool bossfight; Sonic.exe is canonically narcissistic and arrogant entity and a really sore loser (who would probably just quit roleplaying as sonic if actually defeated, kind of like a kid taking his football and going home) and its really cool watching this; its way better than the official sequel that just trys to make him "scarier"; having an incredibly difficult and high stakes boss fight (but achievable) makes for far more tension than just making him undefeatable.
They could have even worked it into cannon (such as the souls of his playthings conspiring to beat sonic.exe at his own game USS Callister style)
