.. oh I forgot to ask, why does it switch off the engine when I stop at the stop sign or traffic lights.. lastly, I'd like to know why the speedometer goes on and off when I'm driving... I'd really appreciate your response, thank you.
It automatically shuts off the engine when the vehicle is at rest to cut fuel use and eliminate idle emissions. It then restarts the engine automatically when the driver lifts off the brake or presses the gas pedal.
When I drive in London with my 2013 CL500 at some point in traffic all the safety systems fail all together. After some driving and restarting the car, all the messages are gone, back to normal. One of the possible causes according to the manual is: -the radar sensor system is temporarily inoperative, e.g. due to electromagnetic radiation emitted by nearby TV or radio stations or other sources of electromagnetic radiation. Do you think this is due to the new 5G poles we have in London? It fails only in one specific area in London. Never when driving up the motorway away from the big city.....
This was GREAT today it’s been non stop raining in Houston tx. This message came up and turned off my car at the light. 😐 thought car was messing up. Glad I watched this and can now share with my mom what we just experienced. Love Mercedes for safety. 🥰
@@Nightbird. sure! I called a dealership and they said it’s a “safe” feature. If the car feels that there could be an accident coming up it will turn off. In my experience that could’ve been dangerous. Later my car kept doing it when I slowed down at lights then another dealership said yes the first answer was right but that the “extra” battery that the car has was now dying. I needed it replaced and possibly the power one too. Usually they go out at same time. He said you can use the car with the small one not functioning because that’s just for the sensors, pre safe options, eco ect. So he said to turn off the eco light to turn off all “extra”battery options from wanting to work and wouldn’t turn car off when I slowed down. That did do the trick for now until I get it replaced just have to be careful. Hope that helps. 😊
@@blessedbythebest1003 Thank you so much for the information! That is really important to know so that you don't panic and think the worst. I'm currently shopping for a 2017 S550 4MATIC (I don't like the changes they made in 2018) and I'm finding it hard to find a model that has all the safety features as many people saved a little money by not getting them..which really surprises me because safety is EVERYTHING to me to protect my family. I hope you get the battery replacement soon to keep you safe and hopefully that service is under warranty because the MB dealership charges too much for any type of service..which is why I use an independent MB mechanic to fix anything on my older S Class I have now. Take care and thanks again! 😉
If you find an independent MB mechanic the cost is much less than the dealership. All of these modern safety systems are expensive to fix but worth it when they save your life.
@@Nightbird. I am an independent MB shop. More and more systems are either TRP theft related parts which I cannot buy or will need programming which I not able to do. I wouldn't own an MB after about 2010 and never will. They used to make great cars and they were safer than the average statistic for their respective model year
@@bicylindrico I currently have a W126 which I love..but I need a newer S Class with the Pre-Safe Plus and Active Brake Assist features..because the area that I live in has a lot of bad drivers who will brake right in front of you and it's very hard to stop in time or notice this until it is too late. Even though I know you are right that it costs a lot of money to repair these vehicles..I feel I have no choice but to purchase one to protect my family..so I am currently shopping for a 2017 S Class. Pre-safe is a waste of time 😁if the system is so complicated that MB will send a German engineer to your dealership and take weeks to tell you nothing found,
Both of my GLSs have saved me in a couple of accidents!

On balance, your safety is more important than possible cost of repairs for the Pre Safe system.

stopped working after battery drained, need to pay extra money to reset, just because battery drained
won't buy German car again
