I’ve never been as calm as you when replacing those I’m assuming you cut out the video clips were you hammered that phuker on while cussing to get it started on the trailing arm
Awesome! Gonna bite the bullet and buy the tool for $90. I have watched so many other videos with people hammering and banging and trying to get it to work. For removal, it seems that a quick cut with the sawzall through the bushing is the primary method.
Here's the thing. I have a customer with a 1990 Civic wagon, and his bushings have a tapered ring and a tapered flange in the trailing arm. I guess the original design is keyed this way so it can't be put in facing the wrong way. You "may" be able to use a heavy press to overpower and straighten out the flange, but it will be a lot less work to just get the repair kit that reuses the ring and the cross bar, with only the replacement rubber or urethane being pressed in after cleaning up the metal.
Getting the old one out was easy. Putting the new one in, may be more difficult than you can expect. BTW, I took a sawzall, and I sliced the outer ring (after removing the center hunk and cross bar), until the ring was weakened in it's press fit arm. I was very careful NOT to cut into the trailing arm. The ring popped right out.
Yeah try doing this on a Midwest vehicle where everything is rusted to shit from road salt and all bolts need to be torched to break free and some still snap off then you spend hours drilling out broken bolts. Fuk this, I'll get a new car.

Very good depiction of the way a home mechanic actually has to do things. I loved it. Thanks for sharing

I like the creativity
On the eric the car guy video he said as long as it’s flat with the outside of the arm, it’s good to go
Nice tutorial, very professional. I hope next time you will make a video of power steering rack and pinion assy. Of the same car. Thanks!

thanks for your vid very helpful.
I find that breaking each bolt / nut by hand and then using air once they are free saves the heads.

What sign indicates a bad lower trailing arm bushing? Squeaky on bumps?
