Solent Ships is operated from Town Quay, the Old Town quarter of Southampton, where the Mayflower departed 400 years ago.
Utilising various cameras our small crew are dedicated in providing a window onto our historic waterfront in the Solent region. The ‘Captain’ of our crew is a licenced drone pilot and day skipper, with an added passion for photography.
This channel has a large library of drone footage, documenting (with commentary) the various vessels that sail by one of the busiest Ports in the UK. At Solent Ships, you can also access 24 hour live streaming video of the day-to-day movements of all shapes and sizes of marine traffic, an ever-changing view that is enjoyed by cruise ship enthusiasts and water watchers worldwide.
The channel is expanding with new camera locations and with regular live commentary and millions of views a month, Solent Ships is the most interactive shipping-based channel on RUclips. Great video, Captain! The reason why she was moored out there was because she was too big to berth in Portsmouth. I thought it was also due to her being nuclear powered but it seems its just the fact she is ginormous!
I did think that size might be an issue shipmate.
Good video Captain.
Thanks shipmate
That carrier certainly is a Hornet’s nest 🐝🐝.Great video Captain
Good job I didn't get stunk shipmate shipmate.
Nice one Captain, at least you didn't get arrested 👍
Thanks shipmate. Slipped through the fingers of the aquatic police.

A floating Star Destroyer
That's a good description shipmate
Hopefully one day you can do a video of a uk aircraft carrier.
It's all about the timings shipmate.
Ford uses electromagnetic catapults...
Thanks shipmate, my info was bad.
@@SolentShips It's all good, and thank you for making the video, she's an awesome sight to behold.
@Solent Ships did u wear Lifejackets ?
I'm not sure we did shipmate.
@@SolentShips thats the 1st fing i noticed
340 meters long? ...3 football fields - one after the other along... Is that the biggest in the American Navy? Have there been any bigger than this one ?
PS. I was a kid when I visited Toulon port (in early 90's) and saw the French "Foch" from up close. Thought it was ENORMOUS. This one is apparently 40% bigger (in lenght) - in width seems at least double that size.
PS. Thanks for the video.
She is the current longest ship in the US navy at 1,106 ft long, the Enterprise is 1,122 ft long, but she was decommissioned in 2012.
@@lvthud Ok! Thank You for the clarification! Have a nice day & Best Regards! ;)
Steam catapults you say?
I think I was misinformed shipmate. Steam power to generate elextricy for eletromechanical catapults.
