As an ethnically mixed metal head, the songs speaks to me. Growing up I had an immediate attention to metal music and as I got older and learned more about my African American heritage, I fell in love with Negro Spiritual. This bands sound is somehow the thing my ears have been begging for since the first time I heard SOAD.

@@stevehughes8027 Robert Johnson was a famous blues musician, who had been well known in his area for being somewhere between mediocre and just bad. Out of nowhere he shows back up and starts playing amazing music. His song "Crossroads Blues" details how he went to the crossroads and did the Hoodoo ritual to sell his soul to the devil in exchange for the ability to play music. A lot of folks, based on his complete 180 in talent, believe he was telling the truth in his song.

Great blending of genres and experimentation from artists like this keep music alive in my view.

The devil in the song has nothing to do with God or Christianity. I guess you didn't understand who is the devil in the song. Listen to the sound of chains in the song. Maybe then you can understand what they meant by the devil.

This song is phenomenal. This song to me, as I say this in a nice way, comes off like an old slave song, one that they’d sing with words instead of instruments. This song is one of the most strongest songs I’ve ever heard as Z&A fully understands that words are as strong as actions, like blood used as ink to describe pain, as the devil is easily manipulative, as Mother Nature as it’s put is his playground.

I can’t help it but I love his voice and the music. I was sharing this song with friends and they asked me what this song means and I said I thought it was him warning that the devil will fool anyone he has many names and will act kind but be weary of the stranger that holds all the answers. Now Learning that this was in fact a song praising the devil and that is really making me feel confused. How can something so beautiful be praising the devil?!? Good song though

Well, think of it from the slaves perspective- you have been taken from your home, enslaved, tortured, destroyed, all by men who see themselves as righteous- as men of "god". What do you think they'd think of that god? And what reason would they have to believe that the demon who strikes fear into the heart of these "righteous" men is anything but good and kind?

I was lucky enough to see the band in Wellington, New Zealand. The band had had their equipment delayed in Australia, so they borrowed a couple of guitars and the drum kit of the support band. The performance was outstanding. I recorded 'Devil If Fine', you can see the performance on my page.
