the process of finding the factors is called factoring. all numbers have factors for example 1, 2, 5and 10are factors of 10.it means they all divided 10. similarlly x+y is a factor of x*2+2xy+y*2 .we solve factorisation by various methods like taking common or making group and taking common. factorisation by splitting middle term is also very good method to factoring quadratic equations. all polynomial have factors . we can find the number of factor by their power also. for example if power of polynomial is 3 then 3 factors are possible.factorization is part of algebra .example 9ab +7b*2 = b(9a+7b) here we take common b so we can say it is a common method.
