Been playing totem shaman quite a bit since the new set. I’m around diamond 2 at the moment and my experience is that is runs over any class that isn’t death knight (and sometimes demon Hunter). But the odds of queuing into someone who isn’t playing one of those classes for me right now is a 1 in 10 chance.
I mean this is the start of every expansion. Until the first balance patch aggro always does more early. The decks are often much more straightforward to build and play.
This deck is a lot of fun! I don't have Rotgill or The One-Amalgam Band at the moment, so I've been running Ragnaros and Command of Neptulon. (Just some things to provide, IMO, a somewhat similar board clear.)
I’d say neither is essential, but in some matchups Rotgill can be huge. Particularly against decks with single-target or incremental removal, like Warlock, DK, etc. The extra pressure he helps maintain against more controlling decks gives you better odds in those matchups. But not essential.
I have built a very similar deck but instead of stereo totem I used shadow suffusion since the board is almost always full it add more threat or annoyance to the oppo

I like that I built the exact same deck save for the cards I didn't have. Finally I can play Eys'or thanks to the core set.
always had a soft spot for totem decks, especially if they're meme. This one seem pretty competitive tho.
66% WR on hs replay for the top totem deck. Id say pretty good.

just started totem shaman without rotgill or 7 cost neutral legend and its went VERY well

The murloc that draws 3 murlocs is better than fool, no infusen needed.
Tutoring the Amalgams and Rotgill is really handy.
Tried this deck but cut Stereo Totem for shadow suffusion, thought it might work better seeing as the deck likes to go wide.

Frost dk would easily deal with it. Weapon on 1, New 3 mana frost dk card on 3, suddenly there’s no board and options are somewhat limited.
